I'm by no means a crossfitter…read more... But I went this past Saturday with a group that I workout with, and I didn't die. That's as good as it gets with me and crossfit. Cross fit is as mental as it is physical, and in Houston heat and humidity in the early morning, you need serious mental conviction to not die, and strength to pace yourself and stay focus. Out instructor was clear with directions, demonstrated everything, corrected form during each exercise, and had words of uplifting wisdom through out, which helped A LOT. I completed the day's workout and felt very rewarded with my accomplishments and the fact that I met his as well. I will go back and try again, definitely!

I am only in the area for the next three months & have been heavily thinking about & wanting to join the crossfit community for the last couple years. I found Spectra on Yelp searching for crossfit gyms in the area & the reviews were very positive and welcoming! I had an AMAZINGLY positive conversation with Donald (one of the coaches) while setting up my trial week of classes that solidified that this was the gym I wanted to get my crossfit journey started with and build my foundation! I attended my first class on Monday night & it was GREAT! The class size was intimate which allowed for specific tips & critiques from the coaches on technique making for a safe, effective workout. Donald was walking around helping & monitoring us all as well as giving constant encouragement & motivation! Everyone at the class was super nice & welcoming making me feel like I had been working out with them for months. If you're looking for a gym to get started with or if your just in town temporarily like me, Spectra Crossfit is definitely a great place to check out!

Tons of space and lots of machines. It is not a commercial big box gym, more niche. They have a nice boxing area in the back and a cute kids zone. The group workout room was a nice size. The only downfall is there is no stage for the instructor. We couldn't see them unless they milled around the room, which they did. We registered in advance and get notices about events happening at the gym.

Recently had a bad experience I was few minutes late and the general manager didn't let me in told…read moreme to wait for couple of minutes because it's dark in the spin room. And then told me you can't go inside until the entire spin session is over. She wasn't rude but not friendly. What management needs to take in consideration is there is traffic in the morning. Customers pay money for these classes it's not free. There are plenty of other gym options in the area with better customer service

Danica is great at motivating and encouraging the class without coming off as too aggressive for the early morning sessions. I have dropped into five boxes in the past few months. This is--by far--the best box I've stopped…read moreby yet. -Space There is so much space here! There are two big lifting rigs, a huge empty space for work outs, two great storage rooms, and even another room in the back I didn't get to explore. The box has four beautifully clean showers. The shop is huge and has a lot of great things to buy. -Cleanliness Everything is so clean and organized. Each weight is put away, each workout instrument has its own spot, and there is no danger of tripping or getting confused about where to go/where to find something. Every member that I saw wipes down everything they used, and everything was well-maintained. -Friendliness I'm not sure why someone on here said they didn't feel welcomed-- That was a huge plus for me here. I felt very welcomed. Members approached me and spoke to me and asked me about my history with Crossfit. The coach, Sharon, was so nice and welcoming and paid close attention to me during the WOD. I even got a shout of encouragement from a member I hadn't spoken to during the workout--everyone encouraged each other. The coach pushed me to work harder. This box gets five stars for cleanliness, spaciousness, and friendliness. And, honestly, the showers are a HUGE plus! They have a 12pm class, so you can run over during your lunch break and shower up before going back to work. The workout that I did was great too, though I've only been to one course at this gym.

When I inquired about the status of the women's sauna, the front desk representative proactively checked on it, which I appreciated. There are plenty of machines available now that the Missouri City location is open, making workouts more efficient and less crowded. I especially enjoy the recording room, the theatre, and the Shark Tank recovery room, which add unique value to the overall experience. The showers are decent, though they could benefit from more frequent cleaning and more consistent replenishment of body wash. The instructors are wonderful--especially Frieda. I truly cannot speak highly enough of her; she is knowledgeable, motivating, and a standout asset to the gym.
