Most places I've been to the classes are usually great as long as you put in the work. The employees are great and the classes are too. Most of the staff are very friendly but the owner has the worst communication skills. He leaves out information and isn't clear. He's changed memberships without informing me prior which was I I left the first time. During this last 6 week challenge I asked about purchasing a myzone and he said ok and he needed a couple more people to order. The next week he said he was going to order some and I would be able to purchase. He never got back to me so I purchased my own directly from Myzone. When I asked hime for the club code he said it was for members only. What? Why didn't he say that when we discussed it TWICE. He NEVER once said it was for members only. I emailed him and texted him and asked him to call me so we can discuss which he never did. When I showed up at the studio to my first class after purchasing my belt he never said anything but instead of teaching the class properly he was on his phone and computer the whole time. Turns out he was deactivating my Myzone belt and did it more than once without saying a single word to me. If that's not unprofessional and sneaky I don't know what is. He is sneaky and lacks communication skills. This last go around will be my last and will not be returning just like many of his original members.

After several months of physical therapy and lacking any instruction for wellness and back care from my physical therapist, a friend of mine suggested I consult with Steve as I contemplated going back to the gym. Steve met with me and went over my goals and developed a very smart workout program that incrementally increased over time in response to my improvement. He helped me improve my core strength and helped me understand how to stretch and workout in ways that improved my back health and my overall health. From the start, I have enjoyed working with Steve and find him to be friendly, patient, and someone who develops a diverse range of workouts that have evolved over time in response to my improvements and also keep me interested in being in the gym. I also find he can put together very challenging but very fun workouts as well. It is a pleasure working with Steve and I am now in great physical shape and feel stronger and healthier - it is one of the best times of my life in terms of physical fitness and health. From what I observe in most trainers at my gym, I can see that Steve is much more attuned to what his clients are doing and very focused on them when they are working with him. He is always helpful and encouraging and has a good sense of when to push and when to step back. I was reluctant to work out with a trainer and only agreed to come due to a friends reference. Steve has always been great with me and helped me devise workouts for the gym, workouts for when a travel, and workout plans that allow me to swim and run in concert with weight training, stretching and aerobic activity. I think taking a trail workout is the best way to see if there is a good fit between you and a trainer. Steve offers these opportunities and I would highly recommend you give it a go and suspect you will chose to train with him. If you follow Steve's recommendations, you will find you achieve and exceed the goals you set for yourself. Good luck!

Then after he became an Assitant Fitness Manager at 24hr he thought better to start his own business then continue a slow corporate crawl and started PokkFItness. I'm proud to be member number 1. I gotta say if you want tough love from a gentle giant. Steve Pokk is gonna give it you ya. I've seen a couple friends do a boot camp with another place once... and it kind of seemed…read more.. formulaic and brutal. Not a fun experience at all. So I never joined... I was around the volleyball courts of Sunset Park one day and I saw RBBC... looked a little more like a challenging game show (I am a game show nerd so I walked over). Easily the best boot camp I have ever seen, and the first and only I'd want to be a part of. The classes are challenging, but aren't mindnumbing. You are actually engaged. Mike switches things up every class so the things you did on Monday aren't necessarily the things you'll do Tuesday. And (the gameshow part), there is a game at the end of every workout, which literally milks every last drop of competitiveness you have. Great classes, awesome instructor, and totally not monotonous. And the price was pretty solid too. Can't complain. (That and if I did, he'd probably make me do more burpees)

The class size was small enough that with three trainers they were able to give each participant enough attention to make sure we were each doing the exercise correctly. I am an athletic person to begin with but still found the class as challenging as i wanted it to be. The levels of athleticism varied widely but each person could do all exercises at their level and challenged each of us. The instructors were great! Really helpful, encouraging, and upbeat. The prices are too far on the expensive side for me but the trial session gave me some great ideas for exercises to do on my own. Would definitely sign up if i could!

First I have to start off by saying, I have had the worst experience with trainers in the past and…read morehave had to change gyms because I always felt pressured to continue the relationship. That being said, I am not saying all trainers at gyms like NYSC and Crunch are bad, but I decided to look elsewhere for a trainer...a place where if we did not get along, I could make a nice clean break with no hard feelings...plus I am running out of gyms to join and I really like 24 Hour Fitness. So I tried Method Fitness because it is right near my office here in the city and they train out of the Hilton Hotel on 6th Ave. I spoke to the owner about what my goals were and what type of problems I have had with trainers in the past and what I was looking for in a trainer and we scheduled a free hour session. Enter...my trainer...love him, he is absolutely perfect for my personality (think ADD on crack, me not him). He pushes me even when I am tired but listens to me if I am in real pain. He can tell the diff between real issues and me being lazy. He changes up our workout so I do not get bored and he is really invested in getting you healthy and not just showing up because it pays the bills. He wants clients who are committed and feels gratification in getting us to our goals. Oh and he isn't one of those fit freaks who harps on your diet, etc. He gives advice here and there but does not lecture me for binge drinking on the weekends as long as I put in the hours at the gym to offset said binge drinking. I have only trained with him so I cannot attest to the other trainers but I look around and see them with their clients. Some of them look good, others eh but it could also be the clients they are with and what they want. Hard to tell. For the most part though, the trainers are all really friendly and not creepy at all and seem to know what they are doing. It is just the matter of finding one that fits you and it may take a couple tries. The gym is not huge but it is not very crowded and there is never a wait for machines or equipment. Also you can work out at the gym whenever you want even if you are not meeting with your trainer that day. No extra charge. The people who work there are the best. Really friendly and helpful. I have been there since I think June and will be there as long as I have a job and my trainer is there. My advice is to just find a trainer here that you get along with. I have seen clients test out a few to find one that fits and it is that relaxed of an atmosphere that you do not feel uncomfortable doing that.
