dropped in for a workout at CF Lumberyard and it was an awesome experience! The coaches were super welcoming, knowledgeable, and provided great cues throughout the workout. The community was friendly and encouraging, making me feel right at home from the start. The facility was clean, well-equipped, and had everything needed for a great session. Whether you're a local or just visiting, I highly recommend dropping in for a class. I'll definitely be back.

I was in LA for my sons basketball tournament this weekend and needed to complete a CrossFit QF workout. I reached out to CrossFit Junkyard and Tyler got back to me right away. He extended a warm welcome with his email and invited me to join his gym the following day where their would be other athletes doing QF workout. Tyler and his wife Ashley couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. Tyler even spent time getting to know my husband. (Who was not working out) Their space is absolutely amazing and everyone we met was super nice and supportive. If you are ever in this area of LA you need to stop in. I want to thank Tyler and Ashley for such a warm welcome and comfortable environment!

Great personal coaching in a class atmosphere. Coached here are top notch and really care that all their athletes improve their strength, flexibly, mobility, without risking injury. Classes are kept at a manageable size with 2 coaches per 12-15 athletes, focusing on technique and safety. All skill levels will be able to participate from CROSSFIT regionals athlete to the novice athlete with the personal attention given by the coaches. The community is great and overall Great place to be! So happy to be part of this community!

This is the best community! We build each other up for personal successes. Coaches take their jobs seriously and know how to modify to individual needs.

I'm extremely happy that I signed up with CrossFit lumberyard, they have class times that fits everyone's schedule! The coaches here go above and beyond to help improve my fitness! Reid is such an awesome owner and puts in hard work to make sure everyone is getting a good workout in &makes everyone feel like lumberyard is a second home!

Post workout with my friend/Coach Bob, who dropped in on the Lumberyard Saturday AM workout.

Having now experienced FIT Brea, I'm definitely kicking myself for not trying this gym out sooner. I've only done their group fitness classes so far, which range from 8-12ish people in size, and I'm looking forward to trying out the personal training sessions when my schedule opens up! Here are a few ways that make FIT Brea a standout: COACHING: The coaches here are the whole package! 1. They all have stellar credentials, with many of them holding advance degrees and multiple certifications. In short, they know their stuff. 2. At the risk of sounding facetious, I just want to make the point that the FIT Brea coaches actually coach. It might sound like a no-brainer, but it hasn't always been my experience that coaches do much more beyond demo-ing the moves and saying "good job" or "keep going" every few minutes, especially in a group class setting. Here, the coaches constantly move throughout the room to offer individualized pointers on form, differentiated movements depending on individual strength and mobility, alternative movements for injuries, and encouragement and motivation to keep pushing so I can get better and better. 3. They are all super patient, encouraging, and welcoming! PROGRAMMING: The programming for the group classes are thoughtfully and methodically designed. From what I can tell so far, the workouts are structured in mesocycles with a progressive overload pattern. This is important because if we do the same thing over and over, our bodies will adapt and we will not make appreciable gains over time. With progressive overload, our bodies are constantly challenged so that we can keep increasing strength and improving hypertrophy. COMMUNITY: The FIT Brea community is so nice and helpful. I felt welcomed by the coaches and the other patrons from day one. Several people who recognized that I was new introduced themselves and helped me find and set up various equipment. Others even put my plates and dumbbells back during transitions. Just last week, the whole class broke out into spontaneous applause and cheer when I pushed out that last rep of bench press, haha! The mutually encouraging environment really underpins the whole vibe and experience here. It's a special thing. MANAGEMENT: One of the things that I didn't realize would make a difference in my overall gym experience is having direct access to management/owner. In my past gym experiences, the questions/concerns I had would typically have to go up a chain of command before I got a response. Since FIT Brea is owner-operated, the patrons can directly talk to Andrew, the owner, who is so nice and provides exceptional customer service. SPACE/EQUIPMEMENT: It's spacious, well-maintained, clean, and an overall pleasant environment to train in. CLASS OFFERINGS: I'm a busy mom who works full-time hours plus daily commute. I'm thankful that classes are offered as early as 5am and as late as 6:30pm so that I can get my training time in! If you are looking for a gym where you can optimize and maximize your fitness goals (whatever they are), look no further because FIT Brea is it! I'm a serial Yelp sleuther and almost never write reviews, but my experience thus far has so far exceeded my expectations that I felt compelled to share this gem of a place with others!

I'm down 10 pounds, getting toned, and my muscles are finally starting to show -- and this is coming from someone who had never done strength training before, let alone stepped into a gym in years! What I love most is that I don't have to think about the workouts at all. The trainers have everything planned, and every single day is different -- not one workout has ever been the same. They are constantly watching your form and correcting you, which makes a huge difference in feeling confident and avoiding injury, especially when you don't know what you're doing, like me. The community here is amazing. I've made great friends, and everyone genuinely cheers each other on. It's motivating and welcoming, no matter your fitness level. Honestly, I know for sure I would not have stuck with working out if it weren't for the coaches. They push you, teach you, and truly care about your progress. That said, there are a few ongoing issues. The biggest one is the temperature--it's consistently hot inside, to the point where it feels like the AC isn't working properly. It makes workouts uncomfortable, especially during busy times. There are also a handful of machines that have been broken and don't seem to get fixed quickly. It's not a huge amount, but enough to be noticeable when you're trying to follow a routine. Another issue is the environment at times. It can feel more like a hangout spot for younger kids (high school/junior high), and I've noticed people smoking in the locker room, which is a concern. I still come here and want to like it, but these are things that could really be improved. If management addressed the AC, stayed on top of equipment maintenance, and enforced gym rules better, it would make a big difference.

You get the group fitness atmosphere and motivation, which I love, but also the attention of personal training because the groups are small, and the coaches are very attentive. The group classes are at most 8 people, so it's never too crowded and there is plenty of equipment to go around. Plus you get inspiration and motivation from the people working out around you. The owner Edgar designs the workout programs to run for 4-6. So you will be doing the same exact exercises each week until the program changes. This gives you the ability to track your progress and make improvements throughout the program. This is very different compared to other group fitness class I've done, which change the workouts each week, and there isn't as much structure or emphasis on tracking your lifts. Funktional fitness is great for anyone wanting to improve their physical fitness. It's great for the beginner and for the advanced lifter. The coaches are very knowledgeable and patient, but they will also challenge you. They have helped me out so much with my form on my lifts and given me cues that have really stuck for me.
