I freakin' LOVE Orange Theory!! Of course, I'd seen a million of them for a long time now, but…read morenever had tried them out until a couple weeks ago. I hit a plateau doing home workouts, so I've been trying out other gyms/studios so I can keep the momentum up. OTF offered a free week trial on FB, so I signed up with my bf. We got a call a couple days later to set up the first workout day over the phone. They said they would put us down for a Friday 9am class, but since my bf didn't want to put a credit card down (required), they couldn't hold our spots if other members came in. Kinda a bummer, but I get it seeing as how busy they are and how they're at a smaller capacity due to COVID. We came in that Friday morning, but were not able to partake since the class filled up with members. They offered to schedule us for the following Monday class, and we put our credit card down to hold the spot. We came in the following Monday and were given loaner heart monitors. We were given a rundown as to how the classes and monitors work before the workout started. We were able to catch on and do pretty well throughout. Classes are a series of blocks that include: treadmills (with soft impact), weight floor, and water rowing machines. I wasn't sure if I would get bored of this, but after a week straight, I'd have to say my worry is unfounded. Each class is different from day-to-day, focusing on certain aspects (i.e. endurance, strength, power, etc.) Apparently there are a team of experts that design these classes to be as efficient as possible, and I'd have to agree with them. The results I see in only ONE WEEK is astounding compared to the month+ I've been working out at home, and for double the time. It seriously motivates me to be in these types of group workouts, especially when you can see your heart rate and you know where you want the target range to be. We ended up deciding to buy an 8-pack monthly each -- if you buy two in a household, you get $10 off the second membership. The 4-pack is currently $59 a month (not pictured). We also bought heart monitors because it's a $10 rental fee each time without owning your own. I got the armband monitor which is more expensive, but it feels better and registers much quicker than the chest monitor (my bf got that one -- it takes a little while to warm up). It is a little expensive, but the results are crazy fast if you push yourself, and it's a full body workout every time. OTF workouts are the perfect way to supplement my biking and home workouts (including yoga). I love all of the employees, coaches and energy here, and I love how you can go to any OTF location as a member. The app is also cool because it tracks your stats (including home workout / biking / etc.) and has home workout videos in it. It's super easy to book classes on it, but the morning classes book up fast. If you're able to make it through a week straight, you'll feel like you can do anything!

I love Orange Theory and the template as far as what the workout does for me. However, whether it's…read moreon the phone or in person, this location consistently has some of the rudest front desk people of all the OT's I've been too (and that just not coming from me, but other OT members I've talked to from my home location). After an experience I had today, I'll avoid this location from now on.

This place is the very definition of a hidden gem. I happened upon it while googling "cool gyms in Utah" a few months ago, hoping to find some sweet Black Friday deals. I had never heard of it before, but the Google reviews got me very excited. There were lots of remarks like "I can never move because I won't find a better gym than this." Now that I've been to The Training Room, I can't go back home to the East Coast unless they let me start a franchise there. For the base membership price (currently $110) you get unlimited access to the gym, which is fully equipped with everything you need for lifting, cardio, CrossFit style drills and so much more. It is so clean and never overcrowded! There are showers stocked with the relevant toiletries, including hair dryer (and diffuser!), cotton swabs, hair ties and bobby pins, etc. There is even towel service, so you don't have to bring your own with you and stuff a wet towel into your gym bag on the way out! In addition to that, the base membership gets you unlimited included childcare! I love that there's no additional fee for that. I'm not usually comfortable taking advantage of childcare anyway, as they are frequently overcrowded with babies, understaffed, and often don't look well cleaned. The childcare here is different. Just like the gym floor, it is never overflowing with people. The girls who work in there are so pleasant and mature. It's easy to see your babies if you want to, as the door is always open and there are even computers at the front desk showing camera footage of what's going on wherever babies are. They even do a "Movement Preschool" with structured activities and take-home crafts where they teach basic manners, colors and the alphabet! The BIGGEST sell for me on this membership is the fact that it comes with free, unlimited access to the on-site Sports Medicine services! You can make an appointment to go in and get a physical, sports massage, physical therapy for injuries, chiropractic adjustments, etc. It's the first gym I've seen to incorporate that and it is an absolute game changer. The fact that they give you access to those services plus everything else for only $110/mo is just bonkers. This is so long, but I could go on and on about this gym. Not only is it the bee's knees, it is also in fact the cat's pajamas. (Do people still say that?) Come join the club! Or don't, because IT IS MY PRECIOUS.
