I had recently moved to Tampa and was looking to get back into CrossFit after a 2 year hiatus. I tried several places in the area and finally settled on CrossFit Hyde Park. The space is big, the coaches are great--shoutout to Tori, Hailey and Hunter-- and the wods are always a good workout. This particular facility is part of Tampa Movement Lab, which offers a variety of other classes (Mobility, Endurance, etc) and is part of the unlimited membership. I also love that it's female-owned and run, which I've never encountered. Overall, if you're looking for a solid workout this is the place to go! read more

I have been here a few times - ended up not continuing on with the membership because CrossFit is just not my thing and I had some health issues pop up earlier in the year. That being said - I do not recommend going here if you're not in good shape and familiar with a barbell. I am in great shape and have used a barbell quite a bit - but I had to really ask the coaches for help constantly on my form- the workouts are definitely advanced ; they do provide modifications but I personally just did not like the fact that I really had to ask for help from the coaches versus feeling like they were walking around and supervising / providing hands on guidance. I can see how you could really hurt yourself if you were out of shape and just getting into working out. Again, I am pretty fit and I was very intimidated by this place. The space is very open and they have a lot of equipment - If you like CrossFit then you'll probably love it here but just wasn't my thing! read more

This CrossFit gym is HUGE! They have so much space and so many cool toys that any Crossfitter will be in heaven here. In addition to the regular workout area, there's a large olympic and power lifting section with good platforms, jerk boxes, and all the other stuff lifters need, an equally large gymnastics section, and a "fake" grass area for sled work. They have a ton of rowers, bikes, and even an upright rower. Everyone is super nice and the drop-in process is easy and only costs $20. It's about a 20 minute walk from DT Tampa, or a $7 rideshare. I am not a member of this gym, but I still feel the need to give a great review for my intro class. I have been looking for a new gym for a few weeks and Kyle from Cross Fit Hyde Park was by far the easiest trainer I contacted to communicate with. He set up my free intro class right away. CFHP gives you a free 1 on 1 intro class, or in my case 2 on 1 with my husband. Kyle was really thorough in explaining his philosophy and working with us on form. I think he has a great product with CFHP. They really seem to have built a community and most of the people I saw in the class leaving when I came in seemed to be really enjoying us. They were also a pretty fit bunch. My only negative for this place is the price. I can't justify $80 a month for 1 class per week, no matter how much I like the place and its not in the budget to go over $100 a month. If your workout budget is higher than mine you should really give this place a good look. For now I am going with a different box that has better pricing options, but if the prices are ever lowered I will join without a doubt! read more

A friend introduced me to CrossFit Hyde Park just over a year ago and I've been hooked ever since. All the coaches are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and all the members are welcoming. I went from hating going to a typical gym to looking forward to my daily workout and what the coaches had programmed for the day. What really sets CrossFit Hyde Park apart from a typical box is the inclusion of mobility and all the other classes they offer like Gymnastics, power lifting, yoga, and even have a nutritionist on site. After searching Tampa for a new box I've found it. The space is massive, equipment is top notch, and the coaches are there to coach athletes not just monitor the workouts. By athletes I mean complete beginners through competition ready members. This is a great gym! CFHP has great programming and a good atmosphere all around. The coaches are knowledgeable and professional and are always motivating. The gym organizes several get togethers a month w/many of them benefiting local charities. They participate in local competitions and the Warrior WODs. Had to cancel my membership due to an injury and because I needed to tighten up on my budget, but I recommend CFHP to anyone who is interested in trying Crossfit, or if they are looking to find a great place to workout in Tampa. read more

This CrossFit box is legit. I dropped in for a workout while traveling for work. I have very high standards that have been set by my current CrossFit box and I can tell you that CrossFit Hyde Park met every single one of them. It's a big facility with lots of open space and clean. Kat was the CF coach for the 6:30 class and she was super knowledgeable and personable. Some places just throw you into a workout with little to no warm up, but Kat was the exact opposite. It was a nice warm up to help prep for the workout. She corrected peoples form during the strength training which is what you want to see. And during the workout she kept us motivated! The drop in process is super easy and I was greeted immediately. You can tell that this box has a great vibe about them, and they are about building a community! When I am back in Tampa I will definitely come here again. Also, if you are at another gym, I highly suggest quitting it and coming here! read more

Crossfit Hyde Park is a hybrid facility which includes an personal training section called Primal Strength which is where I train every week with Michelle Richards. She is extremely knowledgeable and has helped my greatly with mobility and movement exercises designed for my tennis game. She is highly qualified and simplifies the physiological process involved in all kinds of movements. Highly recommended if you want something superior to the sweat and burn approach. read more
