Every detail was carefully attended to: they even hand-sanded the clear cedar fenceposts,(I had no idea that they went to those kinds of lengths), and the detailing on the on the custom lattice was simply above and beyond. This fence is built to stay gorgeous for a very long time. Other reasons we want to use these guys when we're ready for the next couple of landscape/deck projects: * Communication: Dan responds promptly to calls, texts, email. Onsite, Before the start of work, Dan explains exactly what to expect to happen, what the likely time-frame is, and all the contingencies to keep in mind. We always knew what to expect. I can't overstate how much peace of mind that gives you when you have a construction team working on your property. If there is any question about any details, Dan checks to make sure he's doing exactly what you want. (SO much better than someone taking a guess and just going with it!) He offers his well-informed opinion, which was quite helpful for some design decisions, and he also respects and carefully executes what you specify. At the end of the day/stage of installation, Dan recaps what was done, and what's next. Since every site and every project is different, this was incredibly valuable. We were completely informed about everything that happened. * Worksite / Organization: The guys were scrupulous about keeping the area looking perfectly tidy the entire time they worked. We had refinished our basement in 2008, then, unfortunately had water in the basement that did…read moredamage. I shopped around and got different opinions and widely different estimates. Excavators NW used a simple inexpensive fix and since then my basement has been dry. We had been quoted by others nearly 10 times what Excavators NW charged. Excavators NW had a much better understanding of the drainage and reasons for the flooding. Their repair included partial sewer drain replacement, French drain, and a sump pump, all of which were a lot less costly and made more sense for our 90-year-old Ballard home than what other companies proposed. I found out Excavators NW do a lot of work to keep houses dry since most of their business is lifting houses and putting in new basements. I knew nothing about the process but was curious and the owner was very accommodating in explaining how he keeps his customers basements forever dry. Super knowledgeable and super nice guy too. Highly recommended.

LaValley Backhoe did a great job replacing our side sewer from the house out to the street. We…read morestarted backing up summer of 2017 and did a CCTV of our line with a commercial plumber. Our sewer main had a few bellies at the joints and a collapsed concrete pipe at 60 ft. The collapse piece of concrete was stuck in the pipe and the CCTV was unable to go further. We were starting to back up often. We had gotten a few bids from other contractors and plumbers. Ted LaValley came out to give me an estimate the first week of December and I accepted a few days later. LaValley's team started excavation at 7am, had the new pipe layed and working by 11am and the landscape restored by 2pm. Almost 85' of pipe was replaced. I am satisfied with the work and look forward to 60+ years of not having to worry about my plumbing. Thanks!

After 2 years living in our Issaquah rambler, we were tired of our grubby back yard. With a very…read moresloping hillside slumping into it, the constant roll of rocks, and puddling of runoff made the space not very enjoyable. Our small deck, and a big dirt patch was also not a clean or functional space for us or our dog - so it was time for a change. Once we set our minds to investing in a renovation, I met with 7 (yes 7!) concrete, rockery, and paver providers to discuss the projected heat their ideas, and solicit quotes. A number of the providers were visionless, one was rude, and another was wildly expensive (twice as much as any of the others). Enter Jose and J Zamora Construction. While my initial vision for the space was admittedly to have a concrete patio, with a paver retaining wall - after meeting with Jose, my mind changed. In the most genuine and non-pressuring tone possible, he educated me about the benefits of using pavers (repairability, less cracking risk, better drainage, etc). That, combined with both his understanding of the challenges of my property, as well as his unique lense on a design for our space - made Jose a stand out. I also greatly appreciated that when I expressed specific wishes, he did not take offense when those ideas didn't align with his initial recommendation. When some providers acted put-off when I said "I don't want to take out this tree" (etc.), Jose took it in stride and offered solutions rather than trying to convince me that my preference was unreasonable. After viewing our property, he was prompt, kind, and fair in his quote to us. His documentation was thorough and clear. That, along with his truly aesthetically, and functionally minded vision for our space convinced me to completely pivot from "I'm doing concrete", to "let's go with pavers". After hiring Jose, he recommended products that suited our combined vision for my yard, was transparent about potential overages, and ultimately executed a project that is beyond my dreams for our difficult space. His crew of 6 busted their behinds for 4 solid days to crack it out. They were prompt, respectful of my property and neighbors; and thorough in their daily, and end of project cleanup. They even went above and beyond to carefully re-lay our dog's invisible fence line, which was displaced in the underground drainage portion of our project. Ultimately, we're left with the addition of nearly 1000 square feet to our livable space. An area that started as a grubby dirt patch has become a clean and stunning use of space. It flows with the natural landscape, and looks cohesive with our very mid century home. We have had neighbors (known to us and new introductions) stop by with their jaws on the floor - one even saying "you've made this yard the showpiece of the mountain". Once we paint the house - our sweet little rambler will be perfection - and we have Jose to thank for so much of our exterior transformation. Our project was a somewhat complicated one - our backyard has a decent slope and we needed terraces…read morethat would be structurally sound given that our soil is extremely sandy. We needed a patio level, a small garden level, a turf/grass level, and then one last small garden level due to the slope. To maximize space, we wanted the majority of these walls to be near vertical block walls. The work is practically flawless. My father-in-law has a background in construction and even he was awe-inspired by the finished product. I cannot fathom anyone impugning the quality of Tim's work. To top it off, our neighbor's rockery was going to be disturbed by our work, and Tim (with permission from the neighbor) was actually able to help keep some soil erosion from their property at bay as a bonus and make their corner look much nicer. I will say that there was one issue we ran into - due to the odd way in which our side sewer was laid (it's an old house and replacing the entire side sewer would've been prohibitively expensive), we were forced to make non-trivial changes to our initial plan that resulted in some wasted work that Tim had to undo. This caused the project to go over budget and over time. Ultimately, we were able to work out a change order that both of us could agree was fair. The fact that he went long on time didn't particularly bother me - he's essentially a one man crew (with some help from laborers) and does not cut corners. While that may seem odd, the fact of the matter is that he is extraordinarily experienced and I've hired contractors in the past with larger crews that got the work done quickly but with important flaws. If I had to choose between a contractor who finishes exactly on schedule or one who takes longer but is meticulously detailed, it's no competition I want the second one (which is what Tim is).

Great experience working with Tim at Eagle Rock Landscaping…read more He is friendly, professional, communicative and very experienced! Tim walked us through the various options for having a retaining wall given we wanted to preserve a large (30'+ tall tree). He explained all the possibilities with pros & cons as well as conveyed the city's building codes too. He also shared his recommendation for stone selection too. The quote Tim sent us was very reasonable. Tim arranged for the city mark the utility lines and came out a week later to do the work. He finished the job in a day just like he said and the wall was AMAZING. It was more impressive than what we originally thought; he added larger flat rocks to create a "bench" and natural rock path to make it easy to access the slope. Great for sitting and planting flowers and ground cover. Definitely recommend Eagle Rock and would use them again for future projects!
