However what I have found is that Cross Gates Firestone is a gem. Not only are they generally fast and communicative about stuff but they are very honest. Had bad experience with air conditioning service, didnt find rear evaporator leaks until after paying $1003.00, then recharged me another $1,000 including recharging me for spent freon ay $4.99 per ounce. Other mechanics in area said they should have caught that the first time, also this store is an independent which means they sell Firestone tires not a true Firestone location, be aware they say they don't answer to anyone. Just go to a real Firestone, they are quite nice to deal with and do answer to Firestone. read more

I have a fleet of 14 vehicles and finding an auto repair shop that is honest and does things the right way is hard to find in today's market, especially if you deal with the "BIG NAME" shops, because they are wanting to sell you more services to up their commissions. I have been fortunate to have found Cross Gates Firestone. Although they are part of the "BIG NAME" shops, this location is a franchise and is run like a shop should be run. They are professional and MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY ARE HONEST!! I know my way around vehciles and they have NEVER attempted to sell me something I did not need. Now, they will point out things that may need my attention in the future, which I appreciate. I would RECOMMEND them to anyone needing auto repairs or regular maintenance on their vehicles. read more

Extremely friendly staff, I give 4.5 stars here, only one or two semi bad eggs. Service is extremely hit or miss. I had a car I brought in for multiple different repairs only to have to get some, not all, of those repairs redone 1-2 years later when the component they fixed broke. But due to the age of the repair they would not fix it. Having since been trained as a mechanic, I've learned the repairs made were rushed and not handled properly causing stress and failure points which ensured future failure. I fixed each of these failures myself and never had problems again. It should be noted all my problems with them are engine/drivetrain related. They can fix them, but the likely hood of it staying fixed is low, and I do find they often fix one thing and don't identify the whole problem and something else goes out causing a more expensive future repair. As far as suspension, brakes, and tires go, they again get 5 stars, no complaints. A/C repair, 5 stars. ECU/Code diagnostic, 3.5 stars. I've had some very difficult problems they've found, but other problems that should have been easy they missed causing major future repairs. Over all, go her for all your tire, suspension, ac, and brake needs. Consider them if you have ECU or electrical diagnostic problems, but don't commit to a repair before comparing between shops to get a more broader answer. More eyes and brains are better. Engine and drive train, 1 star. They will fix the problem, but it will likely be rushed which will increase the likely hood of future failure and once you're beyond 6 months they will not repair that component should it fail due to poor work. read more

I took my F-150 in with the engine light on. They made the repairs and the light came back on the next day. I called an spoke with DJ and he had me bring it back two times at no cost. The tech was unable to determine the issue and my family had to leave for vacation in Georgia. While in Georgia the truck totaly died and had to be towed to a dealership. Due to a simple mistake my wiring harness was destroyed. I called DJ and explained the situation and he told me "no problem" He would take care of it. I was not a regular customer or even from Slidell and I assumed I would never see a dime. When I returned to Slidell to my surprise DJ stayed true to his word, he took care of my expenses and gave me a free oil change. Purchased a set of Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires. They had to order them because they didn't have the size I needed. Went in yesterday to have them installed. Everybody was friendly and they gave me a ride home because they were very busy. They checked the alignment and said it was fine. Many places would have said I needed an alignment. They did a great job, and I'll be back when I need repairs. The Firehawks were installed on our 08 Challenger SRT8. read more

Went in having problems with fighting the wheel back and forth. Wasn't sure what it would be. They told me my ball joints were bad and my wheel may fall off soon. They were also charging almost 800 dollars. Got a second opinion at good year and they told me that was not true the ball joints were bad but not near bad enough for them to exaggerate the wheel falling off. Will not do business with firestone ever again I also only paid 650 for the ballpoints at Goodyear. Always get a second opinion guys read more

I have been going to this Firestone for over 10+ years and have always been very happy with the customer service I have received until 2 weeks ago & then again today. The senior manager/owner was outright rude and turned me away to service my vehicle for an oil change. When I had arrived 35 minutes prior to the closing business hours. After having to wait for over 10 minutes I was told "that NO way can we do an oil change for you! We close in 20 minutes and an oil change takes 25-30 minutes." Today, I called to get a quote on replacing my brake pads and I was told that I would just have to bring it in to get a quote because he can't give me a price until he knows exactly what's wrong with it. It wasn't until I told him that I will be calling other places to get quotes that he decided to go the "extra mile" to look up prices on brake pads and if needed rotar's. Unfortunately, I will no longer do any business with this Firestone only because of this one person! read more

I have been to this firestone plenty of times and loved the service. my last 2 trips there were horrible.my husband went in for a tune up and they broke his door handle . Then I brought my truck in for the camshaft position senor to be replaced . they called my husband and said they accidently broke the coolant hose which was a additional 90.00.i would think if you accidently broke it why should I pay for it. another problem is I bought 8 new tires with warranty, I had a nail in my tire so I go to a different firestone because this location was closed. it cost me 21.00 to get the nail out because I wasn't in there computer. so I think its time to find another place to do my business with! read more
