I was actually running extremely late to the reservation time but they still honored it and my friend was seated immediately. When I arrived, I was famished so we ordered a bit of everything to start - the vitrola. It's their Cuban appetizer sampler with empanadas, plantain chips, croquettes, and others. It is a great way to try a bunch of items. My friend and I also ordered the ropa vieja and the Cuban sandwich to share. The ropa vieja is life changing - order it, you will not be disappointed. So flavorful and tender! The cuban sandwich was also really good, but a bit cheesier than others I have had. There was a ton of live music happening in both the front and the back of the restaurant. It is a very lively, fun place. The only downside is because it is so busy, the service is a little on the slower side but honestly who cares. You are there for the food and vibes and have nothing to do!

Our waiter was Gypsia, and she was lovely, attentive and funny! The food was delicious. I highly recommend it!

Was meeting with some friends for an early lunch last week and I suggested this restaurant. The inside is not that big and parking is terrible, but I figured the food would make up for it. Very few tables inside but it was clean and has a counter area where the customer can sit or can sit and wait for their to go order. Not sure what has happened during the past two years but the food wasn't that great this time around. We shared the simple egg sandwich with bacon, and ordered a cafe con leche, the croqueta sampler and some islas canarias croquetas. The simple egg sandwich was unflavorful. The croqueta sampler and islas canarias croquetas were my favorite. Sadly, the cafe con leche didn't even taste like cafe con leche. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed although it was just our table and two more tables she was serving. There was a total of maybe 8 customers. We had to keep asking her for more water and napkins.

The large, bright space features classic Cuban diner vibes with mirrored walls, chandeliers, and a lively, no-frills atmosphere. It's huge, bustling, and feels like a mix of old-school Miami and casual cafeteria-style dining. There's also a famous takeout window and bakery next door that's always packed. Expect crowds, especially on weekends -- it's touristy but authentically local at the same time. Food (4/5) This is the place for generous portions of classic Cuban comfort food at very reasonable prices. Standouts include the ropa vieja, lechón asado, Cuban sandwich. The portions are massive, flavors are bold and traditional, and everything comes out fast. Don't skip the café con leche. It's not fine dining -- it's hearty, satisfying, authentic Cuban fare that has fed generations of Miamians and visitors for decades. Great value overall. Vibe Energetic, loud, and full of life -- the true definition of a Miami landmark. You'll see a mix of locals, families, politicians, celebrities, and tourists all sharing tables. Service is quick and straightforward (sometimes brusque, but efficient). It's open late, perfect for post-night-out cravings, and has that unbeatable old-school Miami energy. Come hungry and ready for a lively experience rather than a quiet romantic dinner. Overall: A must-visit for anyone wanting a taste of classic Miami Cuban culture. Highly recommended for first-timers! 4+ stars for its legendary status and consistency.

Great music and friendly staff. What we ordered- Croquetas 10/10 - Soft creamy inside and lightly crispy on the outside. Drizzled with a aioli style sauce. Juicy, tender and cooked full of so much flavor. The rice was perfect not sticky just perfectly fluffy and not oily and the beans are exactly what I always hope to be served at any Cuban restaurant. However,…read morewith slow service and nickel and diming (18 percent automatic tip) and smallish portions I don't think I'll be back. Having had a quick workday lunch and walked around the mall, I had worked up an appetite. I was seated in a corner table for two and my order was taken. The restaurant did not seem that crowded even for a Friday night but it felt like a long wait. Unlike many Cuban places, they don't offer complimentary bread. I ordered their "platanos a tentacion" (bacon wrapped sweet plantains), grilled chicken and moros. The rice was a little hard and the chicken breast on the small side and barely seasoned other than the onions garnishing it. Service didn't feel very attentive for me as a solo diner. Between finishing my dinner and waiting to order either dessert or cafecito, I also sat and waited until a waitress finally came by. At that point, I just got the coffee and my check. I don't believe I was offered a printed receipt, just the card terminal. I asked if the tip was included and pretty much in time when I was putting the usual tip (trying to be generous with 20 percent) I was told that it was a service charge, and that the tip was extra, but had full amounts starting with 18%. So basically I paid 30% tip for a small portion of food and inattentive service. Looking back, I see that this restaurant had a different name and I had enjoyed dinner at their other location six years back. It's disappointing to see how it has fallen off. As it were, a lot of the original creative items on the menu are no longer being offered.

When I first walked in, I was greeted by one of the servers. She spoke to me in Spanish and based on my response to her question, quickly switched to English. She sat me at a two-top. At first glance of the restaurant, it was decent size. They were doing construction around the entrance where the bar was, so it kind of took away from the appeal. While I've never commented on this before, I noticed my water and wine glass were so streaky. They weren't see through like usual but def. could have been cleaned/rinsed more. After being sat, I was given water and some focaccia crackers. While I loved the idea, the crackers were impossible to "dip" and made the oil pointless. For drinks, I went with the passionfruit margarita. They had a few cocktails to choose from, but this has been my go-to as of late. It was pretty good but nothing to write home about. As a starter, I went with the Cuban Caesar and for my main, I chose the pesto pasta and added chicken. The Cuban Caesar was easily one of the best I've had! I loved that it came in a Parmesan bowl and the yuca croutons were different but good! The croutons were a weird contrast because the salad was so cold and then you have these hot pillowy croutons with a weird texture. Regardless, I give the salad a 10/10. The pesto pasta was great; super rich but unfortunately, not much else. The chicken didn't have any seasoning and I almost wish I hadn't paid an additional $6 for it. The service was great and although they weren't that busy, I still believe it would have have still been good. Overall, I had a great time here and I may come back next time I'm in town.
