By the time I took him to the vets I was convinced that Chico had suffered a stroke and there was no recovering from this. Wendy and her team (I think Helen and Natalie were the staff on duty) could not have been more reassuring and professional. Whilst explaining everything in english (rather than medical words I can't understand) they continued to reassure Chico & calm him despite his obvious distress. I was talked through every procedure that was carried out (blood tests, urine tests and x-rays which they even showed me)and also had the costs explained to me in advance so that there were no nasty surprises at the end of his treatment. Wendy and her team were very thorough & were so patient with me during my many phonecalls asking how my boy was doing! He's back home now, and although I don't know how much longer he'll be with me, I'm confident he's in good hands and will never take him to any other vet. I've just registered both my other dogs with King's Road too. Highly recommend them. In short they really do deliver what they promise. My boy was treated with absolute respect and care, and I was kept informed at every stage.

Since my local branch of Crofts at nearby town Bedlington closed down I was referred to this…read morepractice. It is located not far from the main road running through Blyth but can be difficult to spot as it is in a primarily residential area. The best way to get there is to turn down the road opposite the bus station then take a right and it is on the left hand corner. Parking is available in the streets but there are some spaces marked 'permit holders only' and some yellow lines. The practice is on the corner of the street. There is a glass fronted window and one main wide door which provides disabled access. Inside there is a small waiting area. A hard seat alongside the window or two plastic seats near the reception desk are where you can wait. There is a noticeboard near the door with advertisments on it. There is a lot of helpful infomation regarding training classes etc. To the right there is a coffee making machine for cients. There is also a bowl of water provided for dogs. There are wall hooks where leashes are provided should you need one. The reception is usually manned by one or two staff members. The girls here are lovely and will talk to your pet as if they are human! They will even come around and stroke your animal if it is quiet inside. The dedication of the staff is obvious from the huge display of photos of animals behind the desk. I have three dogs who come here regularly and one has had a life-saving op which meant me turning up out of hours on New Years Eve. I have to say the staff are amazing, hard working and so talented. I often get a different vet every time I come here but they are all very nice. You can also choose to see a veterinary nurse too. A brilliant practice, they send me mail outs concerning the practice regularly as well as appointment reminders. They also have a new state of the art hospital for clients.

Both the Surgeons and Nurses are wonderful and even our little scared-y cat relaxes whenever she's around them. The surgery is clean and hygenic so there's no worry of infection being caused by the surroundings. The prices are about standard of vets that I have visited and we have not been charged for follow-up appointments following our cats being neutered earlier in the year.

APPALLING SERVICE FROM 'VETS NOW' OUT OF HOURS CLINIC…read more I received appalling care for my dog at Vets Now, Gateshead clinic. As a life-long dog owner and regular user of veterinary practices I write this as a caution for pet owners whose own practice uses Vets Now. They put my dog on drip for 24 hrs instead of doing tests my own vet was going to do. Unknown to me they completely ignored this information. Tests would have found a quick solution whereas lengthy drip time prolonged suffering for my dog. It also approximately doubled the estimate at that point. During the night, a vet who took over had seen my dog get worse with symptoms of liver dysfunction but still did not do tests. Vet just left my dog on drip to continue to worsen and did not inform me. According to records my dog was in a serious and nasty situation by then but tests still not done for over 7 hrs after noting the liver problem. Tests finally done over 24 hrs after admission by which time my dog had been left to deteriorate to a sorry state. Dreadful service. Unethical conduct. Appalling duty of care. If possible try to use a practice with 24 hour cover at their own premises.

My experience with Woofsnscruffs was initially a pleasant one, having taken my Pup to a puppy class…read moreat Seaham. Having been impressed with the tutors and the smaller, more personal class sizes, I decided to sign up to the next class up at the same venue in May of 2022. Soon after signing up, my household became ill with COVID for a longer than usual time in what was a difficult time. I contacted Seaham and the lady quickly offer me the option of a refund or carry the credit over to attend another time. I opted for the latter. We later agreed a new date at the Washington centre due to the Seaham tutor having retired. The closer we got to that however, my pup entered her first season. Of course, this meant we couldn't attend the class and I was again offered a refund on 2 further occasions to which I accepted, not knowing when I could next book a class. I was asked to call back with my details to process the refund and, as I did, I was then told that 'we don't do refunds'. I asked to speak to a manager and was told on several occasions that I'd be contacted, by phone and also by email. This didn't happen until I emailed the manager directly. David Potts-Brown, the manager, eventually replied to me to explain once again that refunds are not offered, regardless of what the staff said and regardless of my initial situation of ill health due to COVID. I have since asked for a further correspondence from David to clarify his position on why this is, as his original email suggested that refund policies were relaxed due to COVID, yet seemingly doesn't apply in this instance. I have asked for an explanation of how staff across 2 separate sites have managed to offer a refund on 3 occasions, contradicting their own policy each time. After 2 weeks, I have yet to hear from David and doubt that I shall. I would not recommend you use woofsnscruffs. The handling of my complaint has been poor. Communication has been inconsistent as with the knowledge of their own policies by staff. And management, it feels, are simply ignoring my complaint. There are other trainers and classes you can attend and I'd encourage this reader to look beyond woofsandscruffs.
