Willows Veterinary Centre Hated it…read moreBe prepared to be rippped off ! First visit with my dog for a booster vaccination, no vaccine was available, but my dog was examined, for which I paid. I returned next week, my dog was vaccinated, and they charged me for the vaccination and another examination. I complained, and then I was only charged for the vaccination. I took my other dog in for a booster, plus treatment to prevent kennel cough, which consisted of a nose spray.. I paid the bill, and then got a message that I had not been billed for the kennel cough treatment. I couldn't argue, because I didn't have an itemised bill, and when I went to pay I was charged £36 !! Enquiries at other vets in the area reveal the going rate is £15. I complained, but to no avail. The internet price of the same treatment is £8.46, so I went back and asked for a prescription so that I could order the treatment for my other dog, and it was refused. I said that I would contact the RCVS, and I was told to go ahead. No wonder they weren't bothered, according to the RCVS website, they are not accredited. I am a pensioner and cannot afford to be taken advantage of like this. Don't let this happen to you.

Absolutely appalling. My cat was rushed in yesterday as an emergency (they were the closest vets)…read more Was told he had stones in his kidneys, this would require a catheter flush & possibly an op, to do said op I was quoted £260 for the scan, flush & consultation. Op on top would be £800!! Absolute rip off! And the kicker? If I couldn't afford that? Put my cat down, my healthy 7 year old cat!!! that was their solution. There was no option to pay half the bill at the emergency consultation & pay the op bill (if it was needed) later. They're no prepared for emergencies at all, unless you walk in there with a fortune in your pockets they're not going to help. I had to contact the PDSA in Gateshead, was told that yes could bring my cat in that day & since then? My cat has made a full recovery! Avoid this place like the plague! If you absolutely need a vet in the shields area and don't want to head out to Gateshead or can't go to PDSA, Vets 4 Pets are brilliant also!
