RSPCA recommended I took a cat I found in my garden ( it had been eating my cats food for days) it was in need of medical treatment, to this surgery, I was met by a newly appointed nurse ( we never met or saw a Vet).
The cat was given no help what so ever, the diagnosis I was told the cat either was poisoned or had enlarged kidney and would need blood tests.
We had to sign over the cat as we could not afford the treatment personally.
The vet was to have obtained permission from the RSPCA to begin treatment (they never did), the cat was not treated, had no blood tests taken or given basic aid, the cost factor was their main criteria NOT the welfare of a sick animal.
24 hours later we had a phone call from the vet to have the cat put to sleep, when they had not even done the basic care, they estimated that the cost for treatment would be many hundreds of pounds and could we pay!
The RSPCA where still unaware of this situation, because the vet had not contacted them.
We received a telephone call later to say that the cat was to be put to sleep, still no treatment and still a cat in distress, would you seriously take your pet here, where the first and only priority is MONEY, if you can pay the woopee.
I honestly believed that vets where a caring profession I have had my eyes opened now.
I only hope that anyone thinking of taking their animal to this surgery should think had and long if they really do care for their animal. read more
