Although I LOVE shoes, I sometimes DREAD going shoe shopping. The reason being, because I'm stupid picky. I often don't find EXACTLY what I'm looking for and I end up getting frustrated with the crowds and the service. Enter Mona. Mona was helpful, honest, patient, proactive, easy-going and she listened to me to get a sense of my innermost shoe desires. By the end of a 30 minute visit with Mona, I left with 5 pairs of shoes in hand and I absolutely ADORE every single one of them. I have NEVER had such amazing luck in ONE shoe store, let alone on the same day, but it just goes to show if you have exceptional service, anything is possible. I want to give mad props to Mona - like I said, I've NEVER had better shoe service in my life and thanks to her, I'm rolling into 2010 with some SERIOUS shoe style! Thank you Mona!!!

Later I met the owner, Bashar, and he gave me his full attention even though it was extremely busy at the time. Top notch service and they also had great shoes. They seem to only carry the top sellers and best value shoes because I loved all of them. I didn't even need new shoes but I bought two nice pairs for great prices.

Also Romika brand. Very lined and again, instant love. I ended up purchasing both pairs. The owner worked with me. and gave me the best deal he could. I was very satisfied. I wore the fall boots, most of the fall. Both pair were already water proofed and good to go. I am now wearing the winter pair. They have to be the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. Will definitely be purchasing more product form this store. Not only were my boots amazing, the man I purchased from, and gave me full attention, (Bashar), was amazing. Such a kind man. She didn't offer a hand or ask if I needed anything. In fact, she came out of the back when I came in, stood there for a moment, and then went immediately to the back again. I don't know what her deal was, but it was very unprofessional. I'll admit that they had some really nice shoes there, but I couldn't even believe the prices! They were waaay over-priced for what they were. I saw some flats there, which barely consisted of anything, that were still $115. Does that seem ridiculous to anyone else? Even the baby shoes were $60. Not only were the prices outrageous, but the selection wasn't that wide. They had one wall full of boots and such, and a tiny stand in the middle of the place, but that was it. For the size of the store, and the amount they charge, I would expect the selection to be greater. Two thumbs way down for this snooty, expensive, not-so-great shoe store.

They've got so many different shoes to choose from, it's actually a little overwhelming. I'd say about of the store is dedicated to ladies shoes, leaving the other for the men. I, being a woman, happen to love this fact. I like having a good variety of shoes to choose from when I'm shopping for something. For the most part I would say that the shoes are way too expensive. I mean, some of the shoes merit a high price, but others it just seems ridiculous. Most of the time the shoes are a little too expensive for me, and just pass the acceptable rate that I'll spend on a pair of shoes. A good thing is they have some pretty good sales sometimes, reaching up to 50% off, for example. I don't find the staff of this place to be all that helpful, or maybe they just don't seem that eager to be helpful. Whenever I've asked for a size, it seems like I'm asking for something so unreasonable they can't believe I've said anything. This has actually happened to me a couple of times, so I'm not just crazy. The shoes are nice, but the prices are high; the store is cool, but the workers appear rude. Imagine my excitement when I learned that there is a Goodfoot store on 17th Ave!!! If I had been a gymnastics baby, you woulda seen AT LEAST a triple hand-spring. If you've never been to Goodfoot, the best way for me to explain it is as a funky, urban sneaker boutique. They specialize in hard-to-find and limited edition sneakers (Nike, Adidas, etc etc.) and it's ULTRA chic. The staff knows their sneakers and they are extremely helpful in narrowing in on which sneakers you've just GOT to have for the season. They carry sneakers that you will NEVER see in any other store in town and if Goodfoot doesn't have it, then it's cause it's not available in Calgary. Goodfoot is where the sneaker gods reside; One visit and you'll be forever enlightened.

The store was quiet (it was a Saturday and an hour before they closed, i believe) and the two sales girls greeted me when I walked in, which I appreciated, seeing as many sales people just stare at you. It was obvious that stock was low so I wasn't expecting to find anything, but ended up picking up a cute pair of sandals that were on sale. The sales girls were great! They both helped me and gave me their attention because I was the only one there. I didn't feel that I was a nuisance and I felt comfortable asking for their opinions, which they happily gave. I had a good experience there and I will certainly be going back there for more sandals when the time comes. The only thing I didn't like was that I was asked for my name and phone number to join a database. I understand that companies like to keep track of these things, but I don't feel comfortable handing out my information to strangers. Other than that, well done, market mall sole comfort.

So my only choice is to get dark navy blue cloths and improvise. I came to Ricki's and at first glance, I didn't see what I needed. After talking to the sales person, who was super helpful and helped me find a pair of pants. Yes, that worked. Now, I just need to hunt for a top. Great service! The store, Ricki's is always clean and neatly organized. They periodically have items on sale. Great store. I ended up signing up for their membership card. The store is located inside Core Mall downtown.
