I cannot recommend this business highly enough! A few weeks ago my spouse noticed an old rusty soffit had been dislodged under an eave on our first floor and that a second soffit had a gaping hole in the middle. Tufts of insulation were strewn about the ground and some was hanging outside of a vent that led to an attic. Based off of a recommendation from a previous neighbor and research into local options, I called James. I was Immediately impressed with his in-depth knowledge and his willingness to explain and share his experience. After telling him about my location as well as a brief description of what I found, he was able to accurately describe my fence line, how it led up to a small landing, where the soffits were located, and what he suspected was happening. He came out, assessed the situation, and based off of the evidence he identified the culprit as most likely being a raccoon. He then provided me with options on how we could proceed. At no time was I pressured into picking an option that I was uncomfortable with. He went over the details for each option and clearly explained what was recommended vs what was less pressing and optional. We went with having him monitor the intrusion for 3 days and then replacing all of our old galvanized steel soffits with more coastal friendly poly-vinyl ones. Throughout the entire process, James was incredibly flexible, highly responsive, and deeply attentive to all of our questions/concerns. Contacted this business and James appeared the same day to address the issue/concerns.. all attic soffet screens were replaced and he set up a camera to monitor the compromised soffit entry for animal activity. Raccoons were EVICTED as they no longer enjoy their dance parties in the attic and/or roof. It's been extremely quiet and peaceful since they were EVICTED. The only good thing about the current situation at my house is meeting Mr Critter. While he couldn't help me because of the species that is living in my attic (rodents), he was so efficient to pin point the issue and so very compassionate about my fear of the rodent. I cannot say enough positive about James (aka Critter Getter)!! I had James do 2 jobs for me last fall after I had recently purchased and moved into a home that had more pest issues than I knew -- and I continued discovering them as time passed. Unfortunately, neither the home nor pest inspections (that I paid for!!) noted any of the problems I found when I moved in--nor any that James found and resolved! James is the ONLY one of the 2 inspectors and 4 additional notable pest companies that I paid to find issues. James built and installed a new, critter-proof foundation door after a raccoon got in a window in my house then through a hole in the floor, ripped apart HVAC vents and foundation door trying to get out. Photos of door before and after included. James also repaired a gaping hole under the house foundation, that no one other than he found. Per James, the large gaping hole was likely dug by a skunk years ago. Since that time, everything from skunks, raccoons and cats to vermin have had access to living under the house for many years (indicated by all of the larger feces under the house). The large hole was obvious and clearly visible from outside (under a deck) and from the crawlspace--which all of the inspectors and pest companies crawled (or so they said they did). I have no idea how they ALL missed it! James spent a day removing deck boards and digging many feet under and out to install a steel barrier with a 90 degree angle to prevent the tendency of a critter to keep digging. I should mention that James also ensures and "exit strategy" and monitors daily - the "exit" of any animal that might be living in a space after he has closed off the entry. This ensures you're not going to have animals trapped wherever the repair occurred. He has this all figured out. YAY and thank God for James! Photos of the hole and repair included. James is reasonably priced, very professional, always communicative and he arrived on the day/time he said he would. Most importantly, he found the issues quickly and resolved them as soon as he could. It's been several months and no sign of critters re-entering. I have a terrier dog and she lets me know if anything is lurking. She goes bonkers non-stop if anything is under the house--and she has not since James fixed the problem. The critters come around, but can no longer get in--so they just pass through quickly at night sometimes. FYI - James only does larger critters (e.g., skunks, raccoons, etc) - so if you're having an issue like that, he's the only phone call you should make. Forget calling anyone else--you're wasting your money. The smaller critters like rats, mice, fleas, ants, etc...you'll have to call someone else. read more

I recently had a racoon who wanted to be my under the house roommate and I needed help. If you have this issue and don't know what to do then call James! He is so friendly and knowledgeable in helping evaluate and secure your house so these animals don't get in. James is very responsive and really guides you on what to look for, be aware of and get the job done! He knows his stuff! He set up a one way door and monitoring device to watch activity to make sure they vacated and also replaced 19 foundation vents with something more robust that the raccoons can't clip off. The racoon was going out late at night and kept coming back in the early morning hours. Definitely not something I wanted to try and handle in the middle of the night! James was the third person I called to deal with a skunk problem under our house. He was by far the most professional, detailed and reasonably priced of the 3 who came out to my house. He used cameras to capture the activity of the skunks coming and going and made sure they were out before sealing their entry point. There were raccoons too! This was my second experience with James of Critter Getter. The first time I was out of town on vacation and my renter told me we had raccoons coming and going through a foundation vent. I spoke to a couple of companies. One used traps. The other, Critter Getter, used a combination of a camera and a special one way door. Because it was the season for baby raccoons, James explained that we had to be sure the mother removed the babies before we blocked the vent. He was quick to respond, very fairly priced, and by the time I got home from my vacation, the raccoons were gone, all the foundation vents were secure with new robust screens and my renters were happy. This time I had a raccoon nesting in an open space of my roof under an eve. James was out in a day or two and took care of it on the spot. He's a great raccoon impersonator! He was able to assure me the raccoon was not in its nest and secured the opening immediately. He also checked the vent covers installed last time and made repairs as needed. Our daughter who is a property manager referred us to James/Critter Getter for our skunk issue. She couldn't say enough good things about him and she was right. James was very professional and full of knowledge. He had to crawl under our deck which is a very tight spot to get into and set up his camera. Sure enough we had a skunk, a cat and two raccoons that visited under our house. Once he made sure they had all vacated the premises, he put a hinged door over the space they were using to get under the house. He had to pour some concrete and had to make adjustments by cutting out a piece of the door and making kind of a puzzle of it because a beam was in the way of opening the door. All of this was done in the very small space that he had to work in. We thought for sure the price was going to be more than his estimate, but it wasn't and it was a very reasonable price. James is a very nice and friendly man who if full of information. He answered all the questions that my husband had and gave some suggestions as to how to deter any pests that might come by in the future. He is definitely worth at least 10 stars. He used his "system", which involves a one-way trap door and cameras, to ensure that the entire raccoon family living underneath our house had left to hunt for food and water during the night and could not regain entry again. Once James was sure that all of the raccoons had left our property, he secured the foundation venting so that the raccoons could not get back under our house again. So: the raccoon family was forced to move on down the road in search of a new home. It's been over six months and the raccoon family has not returned. This method is cheaper than paying someone to trap each and every raccoon in the family, it doesn't separate families, and the raccoons are not harmed in any way, just forced to relocate. read more

They also use cameras to make sure all doubtful guests are gone, before they seal up under your house doubtful guests are relocated.....a far more humane way of dealing with strand creatures. read more

James is awesome! I called him after hearing scratching in the crawl space under the floor in our living room. He returned my call promptly and was very professional and articulate during our conversation on the phone. When he arrived, he did a walk-around inspection of the outside of my house, looking for any entry points the critter might be using to get under my house . Finding none, he crawled under my house to continue his inspection. He found no signs of a larger critter under my house but he did find evidence of a rat under there. He also caught a glimpse of it scurrying about while he was down there. James does not deal with rats or mice but he took the time to thoroughly explain exactly what I could do to solve the problem myself and save money. While he was under the house, he took picture of several places where the rat might have been ingressing and egressing. He explained exactly how to fill those gaps and he suggested using T Rex or Tomcat snap rat traps to trap and kill the rat or rats. I used 4 Tomcat traps and filled in all of the gaps under my house. Within one week, one of the traps caught the rat. So far, no more rat problems. I would highly recommend James the Critter Getter to friends or family for their larger than rat or mouse critter issues. He is a wealth of knowledge and a pleasure to talk to. James, the Critter Getter, did a very professional job of evicting & preventing the return of some very troublesome skunks. On his first call he was under the house and pretty much determined what was happening & how to prevent further access. "Pretty much" is because he leaves nothing to chance or guessing. Over the next several visits he recorded their activities, constructed the necessary barrier and evicted them. We didn't want them euthanized, even knowing that they could attempt a comeback.
