During the transition, each carrier was promising to accomplish the transfer for the five phone lines in my family, but there were numerous back-and-forth calls between the carriers for weeks. My mom was also given partial information about the quality of the unlimited plans, and crucial information was omitted regarding the limitations of the unlimited Wi-Fi. They suggested that it would take "a lot" of data usage to surpass the allocated amount of data, rather than the agent giving specifics. For customers who do not understand data usage, this needs to be better communicated. The $29.99 plan does NOT work for anyone who needs data on the regular for videos, podcasts, etc. Additionally, one of our devices never officially registered, and the IMEI would not register to get a trade-in phone through Spectrum like it offered on the website. Even when we did get through to customer service, they could only answer one question at a time, leaving us with more unanswered questions. The information provided was not streamlined well enough, especially for people who don't understand technology OR for people who want reliable data and more comprehensive agents. Overall, I would not recommend Spectrum Mobile.

We were told there would be a wait, which we understood. While waiting, one employee (not assisting any customers at the time) made multiple unprofessional comments, including remarks about customers who did not speak English and were using a translation app. That alone was uncomfortable and unnecessary. After initially offering to help us, the same employee suddenly refused once my parents came inside, became hostile, shut his laptop abruptly, and escalated the situation aggressively. He told us he is commission based for pay, that it wasn't worth it staying late past 6:30pm to help us. He got in my personal space, raised his voice, pointed his finger in my face, and told us to leave -- even though we had an appointment and had done nothing wrong. He was the one who offered to help and then refused. During this exchange, he told another employee, who is black, to "come get your people." We are Black. That statement was shocking, hurtful, and felt racially charged. Without any threats being made by us, the employee called the police and claimed he was "scared for his life." When officers arrived, they did not review store footage or investigate what occurred. Management instructed police to trespass all of us, including my mother, who had not spoken or been involved at all. We were removed from the store and told we are never allowed to return. What was supposed to be a simple visit to switch service providers turned into a humiliating and traumatic experience -- especially for my mother, who has health issues and was deeply affected by the stress of the situation. I am sharing this because no one deserves to be treated this way while simply trying to do business. We are now pursuing this matter through the appropriate corporate and legal channels. If you are a person of color or someone who expects professionalism and respect, please be aware and make informed choices about where you spend your money.

My husband was chatting with the employees while I looked around. The answered all his questions and were telling him about pricing and such. Called customer service and they explained it to me so I went back and got a router. Then I couldn't activate it myself and have a job so I had to wait a couple days to have a technician come out. All that said, I've dealt with other WiFi etc. carriers both with my family and on my own and can say the customer service at spectrum in Big Rapids is pretty good and as of now the WiFi is sufficient and working well. Activation may require a tech person to come out but going into this that's what I thought had to happen anyway so I was not flustered when the activation employee explained that to me (she was also very nice which helped). For new independent persons, don't forget to add a router to your order but other than that I'd say given their promotion prices and customer service, spectrum is a good way to go.
