Hire the Best Dog Trainer in Eugene/Spfld - Julia is an amazing dog whisperer. Our 8 yr old dog had…read moresome bad habits of barking excessively when he heard a noise outside or the doorbell rang. Julia showed us how to change that behavior and be the leader of the pack for our dog. He also was always underfoot (especially in the kitchen) which created tripping hazards. Within the first day of working with Julia our dog had created a new behavior and stayed out of the kitchen. We learned how to teach him how to be out of the kitchen without having to constantly yelling him "get out". Dogs don't understand that language. Julia is a pro at showing you what to do. We've already signed up for another session in a month and plan to attend her drop in play dates with other dogs. Thanks Julia for being so awesome!

Julia has a great teaching skill which is most important in dog training, as you're the one who is…read morereally going to be training your dog (after Julie is done training you). She has helped us with three very different dog personalities and sizes from a feisty/possessive 10 lb chihuahua to a submissive yet reactive 66 lb German Shepherd (and our little 14 lb terrier that just needs a little tweaking here and there). Julia's training style is not a positive/treat rewarding style per say-it's somewhat of a balance of btwn selective positive rewarding for "tricks" or abnormal behaviors (or fears) and quick corrections with tools (either a stick/extension of your arm or a specific style collar/leash that fits the needs of your dog). All 3 of our dogs have a different leash/collar & works perfect for each of them. The type of training is also about the mind set you're in. You don't wait to make corrections when they've done something wrong so many times that you're angry. You need to be focused and serious when you do have to correct. She also got us to kennel train when we're away which we didn't think would work out too well with our two small ones that have free roamed forever, but all three actually do very well and even sleep in there when we're home. Bottom line is if you're looking for a positive reward training only- that's not this. But if you're looking for something that strikes a balance but still allows you a great bond with your dog- then definitely try B the Leader.

Long story short, we've taken our pit to Groovy Grooming twice now…read more The first visit, she came home smelling amazing. Her nails were clipped properly and even sanded down, which we really appreciated. Overall, we were honestly impressed. But about a week later, she started having issues with her ears. We took her to the vet and found out she had a double ear infection. It was especially strange because she is never in water, so it didn't immediately cross our minds that it could be related to grooming. We paid the bill and moved on. About 6 weeks later, we decided to give them another try. Same great first impression, she looked and smelled amazing, nails done perfectly again, but then the same thing happened. Within about a week, her ears were bothering her again, and she ended up with another double ear infection. At that point, it no longer felt like a coincidence. I'm really disappointed because there are things they do well, but I'm concerned that proper precautions may not be taken to protect dogs' ears during grooming, especially around water. This resulted in two infections, two vet visits, and unnecessary discomfort for our dog. I truly wanted to love this place, but this was our experience. Sharing so other pet owners can be aware.

I've known about the place for several years. Who can miss the grey truck rolling around town with…read morea giant "got poop" sign on it? What I didn't know is they do cat nail trims, among other things too. I figured this would be a fabulous alternative to taking Tigger to the vet for a nail trim, since they come to your home. It's a pain, I'm here to tell you! Trying to stuff the cranky old man into the carrier and then the car ride. God, the car ride alone makes me want to slit my throat. Tigger considers it some form of cruel and unusual punishment too. We had a small scheduling snaffu. Which does happen, and messages get buried. I tried scheduling an appointment online. But they use Google forms, and it is specifically for the dog poop service portion of their business. That isn't relevant to me, so I just sent them a message on social media to explain what I needed. So we made it as far as deciding Tuesday afternoon was good. Then ghosted. Nothing for several days. I figured they didn't want to do it and simply ignored the message that said Tuesday was great. Not a great first impression. Monday rolls around and I finally hear from them again (the first messages were Thursday or Friday) to finish setting up the appointment. Rachel the owner understood the bad first impression and offered to do the nail trim free of charge. I hate letting people work for free because the purpose of a business is to make money. But I also understood the customer service aspect of changing the bad first impression. She wasn't taking my money, even though I tried to give it to her. She gave me a 2 hour window of when she would be there, and followed it up with a more precise time on Tuesday. She was there when she said she would be, and we weren't left waiting and bored. Side note, Comcast could take a lesson here. Lol. Rachel and Russ were the ones that dealt with Tigger. It was very quick, in and out kind of thing. Russ held Tigger and Rachel clipped his nails super quick. Tigger hated it, but still tolerated it. I'd be pissed too if someone came into my house, grabbed me, and cut parts of my body off too. Lol. But it was still easier on him than a trip to the vet. When they left, Rachel gave me a time frame of how often I should be having Tigger's nails clipped. Awesome. I had no idea, I just waited until they were obviously long and becoming an issue. My only future request was they be the ones to do this every time, and not other employees. I like consistency, and it's good for Tigger too. Would I recommend or use them again? Absolutely. Minus the scheduling misunderstanding and the awkward moment of letting complete strangers in my house, they did a great job. Tigger tolerated them better than I expected him to, and it was a fairly painless thing. I will certainly give them a chance to earn that 5th star through consistency and great customer service. I love supporting local business, and this is a good one.
