Hire the Best Dog Trainer in Eugene/Spfld - Julia is an amazing dog whisperer. Our 8 yr old dog had some bad habits of barking excessively when he heard a noise outside or the doorbell rang. Julia showed us how to change that behavior and be the leader of the pack for our dog. He also was always underfoot (especially in the kitchen) which created tripping hazards. Within the first day of working with Julia our dog had created a new behavior and stayed out of the kitchen. We learned how to teach him how to be out of the kitchen without having to constantly yelling him "get out". Dogs don't understand that language. Julia is a pro at showing you what to do. Julia has a great teaching skill which is most important in dog training, as you're the one who is really going to be training your dog (after Julie is done training you). She has helped us with three very different dog personalities and sizes from a feisty/possessive 10 lb chihuahua to a submissive yet reactive 66 lb German Shepherd (and our little 14 lb terrier that just needs a little tweaking here and there). Julia's training style is not a positive/treat rewarding style per say-it's somewhat of a balance of btwn selective positive rewarding for "tricks" or abnormal behaviors (or fears) and quick corrections with tools (either a stick/extension of your arm or a specific style collar/leash that fits the needs of your dog). All 3 of our dogs have a different leash/collar & works perfect for each of them. The type of training is also about the mind set you're in. You don't wait to make corrections when they've done something wrong so many times that you're angry. You need to be focused and serious when you do have to correct. She also got us to kennel train when we're away which we didn't think would work out too well with our two small ones that have free roamed forever, but all three actually do very well and even sleep in there when we're home. Bottom line is if you're looking for a positive reward training only- that's not this. But if you're looking for something that strikes a balance but still allows you a great bond with your dog- then definitely try B the Leader. read more

We contacted B The Leader after being referred to by our vet. I'll put it to you like this.... Taking my dog anywhere, vet, groomer, out in public....I left feeling like I did P90X. She barked at anyone, she pulled when on a leash. You name it, my dog did it. We attended the orientation to begin the training. 3 days later was our first session. Enter Julia.... Upon first meeting my dog did her usual behaviors, pulling barking etc. Within 20 minutes with Julia handling her, my dog was completely calm and no longer barked. I was amazed! That first session Julia taught us how to walk with our dog without pulling, sitting and staying (especially when being given a treat), and how to greet people to stop the barking. I left there feeling so excited and happy that maybe, just maybe, I could finally take my dog for a walk without being exhausted just walking out the door. Today we had our follow up session. We worked on agility (amazing and so much fun) and went for a longer walk which included her dogs and my dog did great! We also did some fine tuning to the skills we learned in the first session, and even did some beginning tricks such as shake, and our personal favor, army crawl! Julie is a canine in a humans body in the sense that she speaks wolf leader like first nature. My two pups, 4 years and a 4 month, responded to Julie so well and we saw immediate results. The process is very much teaching us, the humans, to lead like the pack leader and our pups wolf instincts will follow--and they certainly did. My boyfriend and I have gained so much confidence walking our dogs around other dogs because we now know we are entirely in control and have the tools to be so. Our 4 year old was way too excited and nervous around other dogs that his initial reaction to meeting another dog was inappropriate. That was corrected in 5 minutes, tops. Our 4 month old was a rescue out of California and obviously was weened off of her mother at a very young age, so she was timid, nervous, and apprehensive. She met one of Julie's dogs and responded perfectly. Then she met Julie's son and was at first a little iffy but Julie corrected that and she felt comfortable with her son quick. Julia's work with dogs is priceless and life changing. Our Anatolian Shepherd puppy, Stella, was almost completely unmanageable. She would get hyper focused on other dogs, cats, turkeys, deer, you name it. She would knock down my children as she sped out the front door. Out of excitement she knocked me down many times on hikes and walks around the block, sometimes injuring me quite badly. At the vets office I would have to wait until the lobby was empty of other pets and then drag her into an examination room as quickly as possible. Not at all the relaxing experience of having a pet I had hoped for, and NOTHING like my previous puppy love, a black lab who only wanted to please me. As she got closer to 100 pounds it was a dangerous level of excitement and lack of control. She knew what to do (was trained) but wouldn't do it (she was being alpha because I wasn't!) If it hadn't been for Julia we would have given her back to the farm she came from- no doubt. We spent 3 hours with Julia and got Stella going to doggie play dates twice a week and it literally saved us as pet owners. Now I take Stella-dog everywhere. EVERY WHERE. We don't have problems with fixation or pulling or over excitement anymore. She drops off and picks up the kids with me from school. She sits with me when I sip coffee at outdoor tables around town. She meets new dog friends on the street and has calm interactions. I take her to parks and she jumps over benches, through swings, and weaves between bike racks. I even taught her how to run next to me as I ride my bike! I never dreamed I could get her to listen to me well enough to ignore other dogs and just run, but we do it with ease! I put off training because it seemed like a lot of money to spend on something I could try to make happen by myself. Spoiler alert, you probably don't know the first thing about this. The owner is extremely rude and very unprofessional. She expects you and your dog to know things when she hasn't even taught it to you. She is a terrible coach and only wants her money. I give this place zero stars. She demands specific instructions and claims her dog is a "pro" when he hesitates on the agility course more than other dogs... which is why the owner is not a good coach. Complete waste of money. Terrible coaching. She took it to a personal level and started bullying saying "your dog has no respect for me" which makes absolutely zero sense when she doesn't see the dog on a daily basis. Completely dissatisfied with the way the course is set up. She does not deserve to be where she is bescaue she only wants her money and does not take the time to truly connect with her clients and the dogs. read more

What a difference a dog whisperer makes! We have a 5 month old Lab who was pulling on her leash to the point of choking herself and is very high energy. After just one session we have seen a world of difference. She now walks on a leash comfortably behind us and at home she is just generally more calm and balanced. I called B The Leader after researching dog training on Yelp (we're kind of new to Eugene) and I feel like I won the jackpot. Unbelievable immediate change in our household after our dog and I spent 3 hours one on one with Julia. I really didnt know what to expect as our newly acquired one year old Great Dane had already been through training. He knows sit, down, stay (but 'come' was not 100% every time). I just knew that his manners (mainly due to his size) were not as I wanted them to be but I didnt know how to train 'dont act like a puppy' - boisterous, pushy, excitable. When I saw Julia work with him, I felt like I was watching a magic show. Our dog TOTALLY understood what she was communicating to him. The necessary training would be for me to learn how to communicate the same way. THAT is what Julia teaches you - to think/act/behave like a pack leader so that a lesser member of the pack respects you. Its incredible to watch your dog understand and adjust his behavior. We will continue to work with Julia as our dog can only get better, or should I say, we will only get better as pack leaders and end up with a better dog. Money well spent, hands down. read more
