Horrible Experience Overall!!…read more We purchased the top of the line bed from Temperpedic for just under $20,000.00. I woke up everyday with my shirt drenched because it was so hot. After 3 weeks and probably a dozen calls to try to get someone to look at it, I decided to return it. But they force you to keep it a month before they can even schedule a pickup. So finally they come out to pick up this bed that left me not rested and exhausted everyday. Having to get up and take a shower because I was drenched. When they come to pick it up and are walking down the stairs with the mattress, I notice a hole in the bottom of both mattresses that still have the film on it so the inept delivery people did not set it up correctly at all. I was not getting any heating or cooling that came with the bed because of the poor setup. So I call and expressed my extreme disappointment and ask for them to waive the $700 restocking fee because I had such a miserable experience with their products and their representatives. Basically I was told "oh well and I am stuck with the restocking". No attempt to pass me up the management chain to resolve my extreme dissatisfaction. I lost a month of my life due to being extremely tired all the time and hardly sleeping. The only bright spot in this whole experience was the sales person Craig. He was knowledgeable and good with people. He was great. I am definitely going to be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau and I am really tempted to sue them in small claims court. It is not the money as much as when you spend that much money on something the customer service should be much better. In the process I saw the most perfect gift for my folks who adore sailing. I do not claim to be any kind of expert in buying antiques or other fine things but when the gentleman lowered the price from $300 to $200 and acted like they were taking a huge loss I thought I was getting a deal. I bought the piece (a Lladro cup with sailboats) and when I got home, I decided to research it. I come to find that the same item is readily available for $15- $30 on multiple websites. Brand new. In the box. Ouch. Not only that, but the piece was actually given out for free to Lladro collector members. Boy, did I feel dumb. And clearly taken advantage of. Now, I do take partial blame for not knowing exactly what I was buying but it's pretty dishonest to rip someone off when it's clear that they are naive to the whole "antique" world. Shame on you guys. Be careful when dealing with this shop. I learned my lesson.

I'm not one for diamonds, I find them to be a product of social value and not true value. But in the window, my eyes were immediately drawn to a "motion" ring. We'd never seen anything like it. A ring with a center cluster of diamonds, with two diamond rings encircling the center, attached by their sides, that yielded something definitely to behold. THE RINGS WERE SPINNING BEAUTIFULLY AROUND THE CENTER CLUSTER, CATCHING THE LIGHT REPEATEDLY. Enough about our specific ring, you get the point. The service is where its at. Sherrie helped us, and is a saleswoman passionate about her job. Not overbearing, answered any and all questions, and there was just something genuine about her. Needless to say, we got the ring, but the story doesn't stop there. As a sort of impulse purchase, I researched market prices for similar rings and ran across another jeweler offering the same ring for $500 cheaper. That's my fault for not performing proper research on a major purchase. Upon revisiting the store and bringing this to their attention, they were utterly baffled. Bottom-line pricing for the ring is set by the company that made it, and the "other" jeweler was definitely below the maximum % off. Whatever they ultimate reason, I was obviously not happy about burning $500 due to impulse. So to be fair, I asked Ruth Sutton, Jack's wife, to meet me half-way. They did. That kind of customer service is unnecessary in my opinion, and is the reason I'm writing this review. I will refer this shop to anyone and everyone. They will give 110% to make you happy.

Long story short, I broke a spiral screw extractor off into the screw I was trying to remove from…read morethe rotor on my car. Screw extractors are made from a very hard tempered steel so they are very hard to drill out and special bits are needed. I called Grainger (which is a great company too) but they didn't have my parts in stock and would either need a few days shipping time or massive FedEx charges. I knew Van Horn is a local company (I believe they are owned by a German conglomerate now) that sells industrial supplies so I gave them a call. I spoke at first with Ron and he told me the parts he had in stock and gave me some advice and tips and charged me with my CC over the phone so I could just pick them up. When I got there, I ended up luckily meeting Marty Thomas when I got to the warehouse. He asked about my problem and figured out that the parts I had purchased were the wrong size. The correct drill bit was in their Houma warehouse and he was going to have one of his employees drive it back to Kenner that night and he was going to pick it up from him and bring it to their New Orleans warehouse for me. In the meantime he told me about some other options I could try. A product called Loctite makes a spray which freezes the metal to -45° so that the screw shrinks and breaks the seal with the thread. He also recommended a few $2 left hand turn drill bits to get the screw out once the Loctite got it loose. Van Horn is an industrial supply company and usually deals with wholesale orders to large companies ordering in bulk. For him to take the time to help me with a project for a retail customer that only added up to a few dollars showed why Van Horn has been in business since 1903. If you are ever searching for better than your Home Depot adhesives, coated abrasives, cutting tools, grinding wheels, machine tools, maintenance tools, measuring tools, power tools or tape, give them a call.
