With wife's asthma and a-fib, pretty sure her cardiologist would advise against 4+ hours on the lake in a n on-air conditioned boat. Called Sunday to check on changing to a day later in the week, and was told they were booked solid. I then request ed a refund, expecting a cancellation penalty (which I was OK with. Told nope, but they would put a credit on our account. We're both in our mid 70s, and the chances of driving over 300 miles just for a boat trip are slim to none. I'm sure with a week totally booked that they managed to find another paying customer to take our place on Monday. So thanks to this greedy company who would rather we placed my wife's health and life in jeprady than issue us even a partial refund.

I, specially enjoyed the off season crowed. Our boat and our bus tour in Stehekin was not full at all. In fact, many of the people on the boat were actual residents of the area. We had an outstanding time! Our bus tour was excellent. We walked to the falls and then stopped at the bakery. Yes, it was closed for the season but the bakery owners left some of the pastries out for anyone to stop by and purchase what was left. In our drive we saw a momma deer with her 2 fawns. Then we stopped to see the salmon fishing up the river - what a treat! We want to come back and stay overnight. The customer service was great on the boat and at Stehekin. I wish i could afford living here haha It is one of this places that i did not want to write a review because i want to keep it a secret.

Lady of the Lake - Lady of the Lake four hour ferry service from Chelan to Stehekin, July 2025

I recently traveled to Stehekin via Lady of the Lake (and back to Chelan) and while I'm very…read moregrateful for the existence and convenience of this ferry service - especially in such a remote and beautiful location - I have to say the overall experience left much to be desired. First, the positives: The staff I interacted with were friendly, and the actual ride to Stehekin was extremely comfortable and offered absolutely stunning views of Lake Chelan. It's a truly unique experience to be ferried deep into the North Cascades and Lady of the Lake provides an essential service for hikers and visitors heading to remote destinations like Stehekin. However, my experience was unfortunately impacted by poor communication and inconsistent service. Less than 24 hours before our departure, I received an email stating that there was a mechanical issue with the Lady Express and that a different vessel might be used. The message asked passengers to arrive 30 minutes early to help accommodate everyone, which we did. However, there was not a clear explanation of what the replacement vessel would be or how it would differ. Most notably, it was only once I boarded the boat that I learned I was on the four hour ferry, not the 2.5 hour express ferry I had originally booked and paid for. The significant time difference was not mentioned in the email nor was there any reference to compensation or a refund for the downgraded experience. What's worse, when I reached out for follow-up or clarification - twice - I never received a response. I understand mechanical issues arise but the lack of accountability and customer service is extremely disappointing and continues to leave a bad taste in what could have otherwise been a beautiful and seamless journey. The ferry back from Stehekin to Chelan was on the express vessel, but it was overcrowded and uncomfortably warm. It appeared they were attempting to accommodate passengers who had booked express service on a different vessel, leading to what felt like an over capacity situation. I know Lady of the Lake plays an important role in the region, and I sincerely hope the company improves its communication, reliability, and responsiveness - especially when plans change or services are altered. The unexpected change in arrival time significantly impacted my plans in Stehekin and I would have made different choices had that information been communicated clearly the day before. All in all, visitors deserve timely, transparent communication, particularly in a place as remote and special as Chelan and Stehekin.

I will say this .... chelan does not have a lot of people of color. You might see 1 or 2 other black families when traveling there. Tons of Hispanics thought With that said I have NEVER in all 12 years felt uncomfortable in chelan nor has our 30 + group of us that travel there. So I will say this ... the boat ride was the first time we ever felt uncomfortable. The back of the boat was taken over by a large patriotic group that I'm assuming must do that every year. Us other People sat on the opposite side of the boat. And you can definitely feel the divide in the groups. I also feel like the people possibly owners working the food stand inside were not very friendly or welcoming either. I'm still debating if I would recommend this or not? Only time I ever felt uncomfortable in Chelan. So I don't know. Try it out maybe you will have a different experience but I definitely don't want to put our Mixed (Black & White) kids in an environment like that again on a boat.

(almost 4-hrs). My work office is driving a city bus with a million dollar view of the Cascades, Mt Rainier, the Olympics and Space Needle. Dale flies his awesome office with equally, ok sometimes better, more spectacular views. And much less traffic! Takeoffs and landings were so smooth, Dale knows the history and people in the area and always made sure we were comfortable during the flight. We were less than a minute away from our RV at Kamei Campground and took off toward toward north Lake Chelan, the mountain vistas and smaller inland lakes and trails. We landed at the Stehekin State Airport then visited Stehekin Pastry Company, Rainbow Falls and the original Stehekin School. We took off then flew over to Stehekin Valley Ranch for dinner, met some of the nice staff and guests there, then we took off for the final flight back to Manson, admiring the sights and enjoying the personal and actual history of the area from Dale. Everything was memorable - the flight, sights and stories, the people we met, the food and the unique experience of flying, taking off and landing 3 times in a helicopter. There is a 3-passenger and 500-lb max for the flight. You're given headphones to muffle the engine noise and provide communications during the flight. No reports of motion sickness from the family, ventilation was good and even a light rain was fascinating as it beaded off the bubble canopy on the return flight. Bring a camera that can take photos and videos but remember to put it down every now and then to truly admire the smoothness of the flight and in-your-face natural beauty of the area. You'll also appreciate the history that Dale tells you with pride about growing up to work, raise a family and enjoy his home space on land and in the air. A mile of road takes you a mile, a helipad can take you anywhere and generate so many smiles! We highly recommend Lake Chelan Helicopters for a truly memorable experience from Chelan to Stehekin.
