The long entrance driveway take you by some of their other property types like the condos and standalone houses. Check in was a breeze and our cliffhouse (also standalone) was just a short walk from the main building. The room itself had character, but could have been maintained better. The bathroom was dark even with the lights on. Our room did come with water and a drink fridge. The bed was comfortable and the bst part was the outside deck and view that was had from there. We could see the pool and the river. I watched the sunrise from here and it was incredible. The wedding was in the event tent, which was warm and wind resistant because we had strong winds that night. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I spent some time in my friend's home on the property and they all are individually owned and have hot tubs. The whole lace is upscale, but not pretentious!

She had a friend who was with her next to the front desk with a glass of wine. That was weird. The friend didn't say hi which is why I'm assuming she was not a staff member. She looked up at us when we walked in and I had to tell her we were checking in. She walked us through the property amenities and then sent us on our way. We returned the next day to use the gym and asked to confirm my spa appointment. She confirmed the time but not whether the 90 min was confirmed (we had called previously to extend to 90 min). We went to use the gym and when we came back down she was socializing with a coworker. She only came back to the front desk once we walked up to it to ask for extra towels. We also let her know we never got an email for the spa form. She had resent it before we headed to the gym. Her response, "that's weird." The hotel can't even figure out their email system. The gym is very minimal. There is a treadmill that is broken (stuck on incline) and dirty yoga mats. No water. No towels. There is a shower. When I arrived at the spa no one was manning the front desk. My massage therapist popped in and checked me in, apologizing that there was no one at the front desk. It was only after I checked in that the front desk person showed up. My massage therapist was very good. She accommodated a 90 minute session when I mentioned I requested it but did not get it. She also went over which I appreciated. Her name is Angela. Very experienced and highly recommend. We intended to eat at their bar where we enjoyed their pizza last year. The bartender informed us that because there is a private party that the kitchen won't be open till 7pm. I replied, "that's too bad as we enjoyed the pizzas last year. The bartender said that pizzas were not available till May. I let him know last year in March there were pizzas available. He thought it was odd as he knew of it as a summer thing. This made me think they were cutting down on costs again as they don't need to fire up their pizza oven. Checked out with same front desk lady. She just looks at me. No proactive greeting. The service here is severely lacking unfortunately. It does not feel like a top notch resort. I will not be back next year and will look somewhere else for my annual weekend getaway.

We stayed out here a couple weeks ago in one of their cliff houses. The original owners put in such…read morethought when they built this place, it's so beautiful and amazing. It has since been sold twice and now owned by an ex-Amazonian it seems. A guy from Quincy who decided he'd move in to the resort business. Check-in was great, staff is super-nice, super-helpful. I know when someone opens a high end place out in the boonies sometimes it's very hard to find good staff, but they've found some wonderful folks out there. Kudos for that. Location: As we looked around at the place it does seem to be kind of going downhill. You look at the sidewalks and they're falling apart in places. Look at the walls and ceiling of the main lodge and it looks old and parts missing where they shouldn't. Things are stored badly and in view of customers. The closed pool area looks really crappy, like somewhere you'd never want to swim in the first place. Kinda gross, and no reason. They should have winterized it in an orderly and nice looking manner. It seems they lost their long-term maintenance person and whoever is doing it now may not have that "resort-eye" needed for a place like this. They definitely need to step it up in that area. Food: Well this was a mixed bag for us. We reserved two nights for dinner and were so excited but our first night we realized this really isn't a high end restaurant it's more middle of the road. I'm so happy they brought in what appears to be a local gentleman as their chef, but the problem is I don't think he has any outside experience at a high end restaurant and only knows what he knows, which is mediocre food. The cocktails were not that great, seemed very low end and inconsistent. Even the ice and glasses were different when we ordered our second round. They didn't seem to have any high end top-shelf choices so we were disappointed that we couldn't drown our sorrow in good alcohol :-) I will say however that the eggs benedict was pretty good and what I had each day for breakfast. They ran out of coffee both mornings immediately so we had to wait a LONG time for coffee on both days, and weirdly enough the half and half ran out each time I went to get a cup. One morning they got it instantly then next it took them 10 minutes to get it and the new coffee. The second night we sat out in the lobby and they had a great country singer. It was fabulous. We got to talking with the restaurant manager, a really super nice dude. Just retired from a previous career from the County and was hired to run the place. He really is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet and has amazing customer service. Only problem I see is that because he's never worked (I'm guessing) in a high end restaurant he doesn't known the in's and out's of running a high paced restaurant. Having said that, I in no way think that's a bad thing per se, because everyone there is great and trying to do a great job. But things like running out of coffee, half and half, people kind of standing around not know what to do, lack of consistency in food and drink presentation. It's like he just needs to go to a week-long class or mentoring of a well run restaurant. After he gets that, I assure you it would be top class. He just doesn't know what he doesn't know at this point. But I certainly think they have the right people. They also allowed one guy to transfer from maintenance to the restaurant recently. What a GREAT guy, I forget his name. He already has that knowledge around customer service at a nice restaurant mindset. He was so great and pleasant and quite frankly one of the reasons we stopped there the second night. Atmosphere: Like I said, the place is amazingly beautiful and walking amongst the vineyard on the grounds was great. The views are second to none, anywhere. The walking trail down to the river is also amazing. Side note, we have never been to the Gorge Amphitheater and were really looking forward to getting a birds-eye view sneak peak over the fence. What a shit-show, excuse my French. I'm sure it's a great place to see a concert but what a shame that it's turned in to a heap of crap, random buildings on this beautiful setting. As stated earlier, the grounds look a bit like they're falling apart. Not sure if that's a function of the owner just not having anyone who's been in the resort business or them just not caring overall. We absolutely loved the Cave B Winery up the road a bit. Hung out there both days after our hikes down around the bench and river. What a great place to chill. Their story is so incredible. We'll head back this summer, we hope. As long as they don't raise the prices too much. That's a long way to drive for a lot of money for that place as beautiful as it is. Next time I think we'll bring our own food for dinners, grab a bottle (or two) of wine from Cave B, hang out at the back deck/porch area and enjoy the scenery for the evening.

What we didn't know was what a special place Kathy and Brad had created for their guests. Our adventure started once we headed up a gravel road. At first, we thought we'd take a wrong turn - but no sooner that thought than a sign on a tree, "Mountain Home Lodge 2.2miles." We knew we were on the right track. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Sierra and Millie, the MHL doggies. Brad came out with Carlos to say hi, ask if we needed anything- and loaded up our things to take to the cabin. Brad made sure we knew how the things worked, turned on the music, and left us to settle in. The cabin was perfect! Chairs in front of the fireplace, fluffy king-sized bed, large jacuzzi tub, rocking chairs and table on the porch, and a comfy couch in the loft to watch a movie. Small details were not missed - light toiletries, kurieg, and coffee. Blankets on every chair inside and out and plenty of towels. Did I mention the water pressure was awesome!? Around 5:30, we headed to the Lodge for appetizers prepared by Kathy- squash soup shots with crustini, cream cheese, strawberries, and a balsamic glaze. The view was amazing while we munched on our goodies. Kathy and Brad are so friendly and full of easy conversation. After appetizers, we headed back to our cabin and played a couple round of chess - the upstairs hutch had a few games for us to play. We fired up the jacuzzi tub and enjoyed a drink while basking in the mountain. Millie and Sierra stopped by to say goodnight, which we loved being dog people. We sat on the porch with them and watched the sky change from light to dark. In the mornings, there is a delightful breakfast offered. Everything was delicious. Kathy and Brad made lovely recommendations for things to do and food to eat. We were considering a hike, and millie and Sierra offered to come along. Unfortunately, we didn't have time for a hike- but we will definitely go with them next time! While we ate breakfast in the lodge, we decided to check out the mountain with the binoculars. I think my husband spent most of his time peering at the mountain with the binoculars at the Lodge and cabin. But like I said, the small touches make this place special. It's definitely a wonderful place to unplug. The quiet, views, and accommodations are amazing. I'm so happy to add Mountian Home Lodge to our not so far- feels like a real vacation getaways.

As parents of a 3 year old and a 1 year old, we have not felt this relaxed in a LONG time. Brad and Kathy have thought of literally everything. Need a wine opener? No problem. Champagne chiller? You got it. Trail maps, walking sticks, snow shoes, movies to watch, games to play.... no problem. It's all there for guests to borrow. We stayed in the Mountain Trout room, which was nicely appointed with a queen bed, super plush carpet, comfy robes, oversized towels, and really nice sheets. As we were lucky enough to squeeze in after someone else canceled, we didn't get our pick of a room, but we didn't mind at all. Included in our rate was a healthy and delicious breakfast made by the lodge chef, using many ingredients harvested from the property. We were also treated to complimentary appetizers and wine in the evenings. It was divine. Brad and Kathy take great pride in the lodge and love to share their knowledge of the local area, from where to have dinner or where to hike. Like another reviewer said; nothing feels fake. You feel like a welcomed guest in a very comfortable setting, and you leave feeling like you have made new friends. A nice touch was the balloons that were in our room upon our arrival. They knew we were there for an anniversary and this was a very sweet gesture. We also found a small bottle of port waiting for us in our room each evening. A typical day was waking up, enjoying the lovely breakfast and views, chatting with the hosts and other guests, hiking the trails immediately behind the lodge (We did the Peshastin Lookout; approximately 5 miles RT and spectacular) with the resident dog "Millie", coming back for a soak in the outdoor hot tub, then walking or driving into downtown for shopping, dinner (if not eating at the lodge), or Oktoberfest shenanigans, then back to the lodge for a game of cards in the media room. Repeat. We would come back to MHL a million times over. 5 stars all the way around. Thank you so very much!

Overall, from the reviews, the suites looked like a good place for us to stay considering it had everything we needed to stay comfortably - also including an outstanding gym that is open 24/7 for guests to use. My group took advantage of the pool and jacuzzi available as well. The area is near vacation rental homes and, the best part, the columbia river. The view is down right amazing and one that I could look at for hours. The one down side of things is that you NEED to make sure you prepare correctly and bring in ALL your food before you head here. If not, you'll have to drive at least half an hour to the next nearby town to grab groceries or food. There is a wine bar and restaurant that is next door to all the rooms, but it isn't open all the time, so don't count on that being your only source of food. Overall, if you prepare yourself well with food for your stay, this is a great place to stay at when heading out to this area for a vacation.

Everything you might need for an extended stay. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the balcony very much. The area within and around the resort was very clean and well-kept. The resort is situated right outside of a gated community, however, they both share a pool and hot tub, which we were able to enjoy during our stay. PROS: Justin, the office/property manager, was very nice/helpful and made sure we were enjoying our stay, the pool/hot tub area was open until 11pm, in room washer/dryer, small but tasty restaurant right next to the office, very short drive to the boat launch/marina, restaurant option and ice cream shop nearby, clean playground/tennis courts, walkable distance to the river. CONS: no kitchen/cooking basics like oil, salt, pepper, sugar, spices, etc., some dishes/utensils were not cleaned very well, broken igniter button on grill (we used a gas lighter found in the kitchen), kitchen supplies were not similar to other suites our friends were in, i.e. they had saran wrap/foil and we didn't, room rates can get pricey during peak/summer/concert season. TIPS: bring your own cooking necessities/food if you plan on eating in for some meals, esp cooking oil/butter, spices, etc. as no grocery stores are around, bring pool floaties/beach toys if you have kids, bring water (tap water tasted off to us), oh and a boat if you have one laying around.

The details in the Mexico themed room were so intricate, even down to the resin decor in the counters, the chainsaw carvings and even the ceramic chili peppers on the walls. The 2 person jetted tubs and the duel headed shower were even better. The fact that they have the option to have the mineral or fresh water for the jetter tub was also pretty cool This resort is very clean, the staff is helpful and the lakeside property they have is absolutely beautiful. The exercise/gym room was also pretty stocked. Its small but the machines were new and taken care of. The 2 wooden saunas are also amazing. It's not that they were rude...but after spending many years in customer service both at the consumer level and at the B2B level, you must let go of being *right* (especially when you are not), and a well placed "sorry for the inconvenience" goes a long way. HOWEVER, once we arrived onsite, it was awesome. We had a later arrival and a key was left waiting for us. Unit was clean. Walls were a little thin (or we had a rugby team staying above us); hopefully we didn't bother the people next to us. It was not, however, a deal breaker. There were two strange things about our unit, though. The master bedroom had an ensuite...which was only a 1/2 bath. Seemed a little odd? Also, the living room had a corner of windows and one window, which looked out on the footpath, had no curtains or blinds. You will hear the train going by at about 10:30 at night and other times during the day, but it feels like you're out in the country--which you are as it's a drive from the freeway. Pool was closed for the season, but looks nice. My husband thoroughly enjoyed a day out fly fishing through Red's. We enjoyed the Canyon River Grill for a nightcap/dessert the first night, and dinner the second. Servers were great, bartender is talented. Food was good. Espresso stand had good coffee and soy milk. They don't, however, do breakfast so plan ahead (they did have bagels). Loved the dessert bar, although it would have been nice to have a few more options with chocolate:) HOTEL/CLEANLINESS/ROOMS- GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got in last minute over the first weekend of October and spent 3 nights in a balcony room facing the river with a fireplace. What else could you want? The entire hotel and lounging areas are so comfortable and beautifully maintained. SPA- Didn't do any extra treatments, but we did use the main spa area nightly and on our last day. Fun for a change! Lots of options! Spa staff was over the top sweet! Fresh towels, robes, water, tea.... felt soooo pampered! CONS (not too many) Service- There were a few staff members who probably need an attitude check. When guests are paying almost 1k a night, all staff should know the answers to your questionsls, and no we shouldn't feel rushed to leave you alone so you can continue your conversation with your co worker. Maybe a staff training on customer service should be on the monthly meeting? FOOD- NO COMPLAINTS HERE! HOTEL/ROOMS/CLEANLINESS- While our room was very nice, there were a few items to note that we're a bit run down. The bathroom floor had stains, the actual bathroom itself wasnt that nice despite the marble tub, and the shower took forever to get hot. The room was also very hot and we couldn't lower the temperature. We ended up sleeping with the balcony doors open. It would also be nice for them to have water stations on each floor, as you needed to walk downstairs to get water (and you definitely want to stay hydrated after spaaing all day!) SPA- my biggest issue was the water and room temps. Not hot enough. While I have never utilized a spa resort, I am used to using the steam room at my local YMCA, and going to a local Korean spa in my area. The temps here are way too low. I sat in the "hottest" steam room for 40 mins and left because I got bored. The hot tub outside was fine for 5 minutes, then my body adjusted and it felt like a bath. The "heated" marble and water beds never heated up. In the evenings when we went there weren't a lot if people- so it wasnt due to the doors being open a ton. For me, yes it was nice, but definitely not as therapeutic as I need. The extra scents and ideas are lovely- but with everything being "warm".... I was underwhelmed especially for the price point. TIPS FOR 1st TIMERS! 1. Go on a week day and pay the extra fee per person for early/late use of amenities. Save some money, enjoy the food and spa, and leave within 30 hours all for under 2k! Id ask about this when you call to book to see the pricing as Im sure it changes all the time. 2. Bring extra water for your room (if youre like me and dont want to keep walking downstairs to fill up.) 3. Go during the poopy time of year, or during the snow. I will admit I am not a lounger, so we did a ton of activities during our visit outside of the hotel. If you come to simply be here- cold, wet, rainy and/or magical snow time is where its at to truly hunker down and get your money's worth. If you cant sit still or relax- this isnt your place. 4. Call and check the website daily if you want to go sooner than later. They book out months in advance, but I snagged a cancellation within 3 weeks! Overall would I go again.... depending on why and when- YES! Would I make this a yearly trip.... not for my style of vacation. I've stayed at some VERY nice places, and while the Post was lovely, I cant say it was FAT travel. My 40th Birthday spent here was such a fun adventure and worth it... but if youre into 5 star exclusive perfection, the Post still has a few details to work on. Thanks for the great stay- see you in a few years!

The…read morebest part was that the rates were less then Cave B and after a long night of wine and food we were able to stumble back to our yurt without worrying about driving to a hotel in Moses Lake. At the time we checked in we didn't realize that Cave B and Chiwana Village were separately operated and we couldn't check in at the lobby of Cave B. Instead we were guided to a separate office to the couple that runs it. Both were very welcoming, nice, and accommodating staying past the time they normally do to check us in. All in all I was a fan. Pros: -The yurt felt like most high end hotels but with a safari twist and definitely very clean. -King sized bed and very comfortable (I think they all have king size beds). -Had a fridge, very large leather sofa, electricity, large bath room with shower (none have a tub), AC/Heat. -The night sky with the millions of stars to look at. -The gorge amphitheater is right there but the crowed isn't. Heads up: -No phone and TV. Since there was a wedding we didn't need the TV but it would have been nice to have one for the time we were in the Yurt. As for the phone our cell phones were dodgy at best and I would have felt safer with a land line if we had an emergency or question. -A flashlight is a must if you plan to walk around the grounds after sunset. It does get dark and much of the trails/walkways do not have lighting. Luckily they provided a small flashlight on our key chain that lit up our path from Cave B to the yurt. -There isn't a front desk to call after hours. The info packet listed Cave B as a contact even though they are separately operated. -The noise of the bathroom light/fan. It will wake anyone up in the middle of the night and there is no way to turn them separately on or the other off/on
