Beautiful place. Staff not very good.
    Luis O.

Not like the Winery or the Restaurant. The Cave B Inn is beautiful. Greeting was luke warm at best. Front counter people on their cell phones and talking to their friends while customers are at counter. Subpar service at best. Not worth the money based on service. Much needed quality control. Not very welcoming. The new owners need to up their customer service and understand the quality of people they are in service to. Hiring a real General Manager with Customer Appreciation and Service Experience is a must. Staff must be trained in elite customer service. Motel 6 service is not acceptable in a beautiful place like this. Loved the Winery great staff and amazing wines. Whom ever manages the restaurant understands the value of the customer. Thank God I found out the winery and the Cave B Inn are not the same owners. $100 million dollar facility means nothing with $.50 service. Missing value, appreciation, and comprehension of taking care of elite customer that can afford to stay there.

    Yurt

Stopped by for lunch on our way to Spokane with the family. This was our first time here with kids and during the colder months. It's still gorgeous! The restaurant kids' menu provides affordable options. I noticed new owners today and hope they continue to keep the same vibe and quiet environment here. Anel was our server during lunch. I remember her from my last annual visit here in July. She is always smiling and so positive. They're lucky to have her here! Bonus: Tasting Room allows children!

This showerhead is pretty trashed. Cliffhouse 12

This place no longer deserves four stars. Maybe it did in 2005, but in 2019, no way is it worthy of the four stars nor the high price. We stayed 6/18-6/19 for our wedding anniversary. CONS: * Confusing signage to where to come when you first arrive. If you follow signs to check in it states permit parking only. There are multiple parking areas, although most are not labeled. The confirmation email should have included instructions on where to pull up to check in, and then the parking areas should be paved and clearly labeled. We parked in an area that looked more like a path. By the next morning there were two other cars so we either started a trend, or we discovered the parking area. * At check in they said we needed brunch reservations; repeated it 3 times in fact. We made them for 10:30 the next morning. * They said they saw our dinner reservations, and I reminded her we are vegan, and she said yes it says that. She should have mentioned that when she noted our reservation. * We knew it was by the Gorge, and made sure there wasn't a show that night, but you can still see the honeybuckets as you drive to park. * When we walked to the cliffhouse there were weeds and marks on the door and old birds nests (cliffhouse 12). Hardly a good first impression. * There was only one chair outside with a small table. We called the front desk and they had someone come down and first bring an outdoor dining chair, and then he went and grabbed another lounge chair after my husband pointed out the cliffhouse that had five. This should have been done before we were in the room. * We had only two bath towels, that may or may not have been from 2005, and two pool towels that you need to bring with you to the pool. For four stars and the price there should be towels at the pool. * I mentioned the pool when we checked in; when we went there 1 hour later the card reader was not working, and other people in the pool area (who were nice to open the gate, but were vaping and listening to music) let us in and said it had not been working and the front desk was aware. The front desk should have mentioned this when we checked in, and also had a way to prop the gate open, or have someone there. * Back inside the room, the curtains are heavy and difficult to use. For four stars they should be automated with a sheer layer, and a black out layer. * The showerhead was difficult to figure out, and clearly we are not the only ones who had this issue, as it was sort of busted and 1/2 the water was pouring out from the middle of the lever (see picture). * The TV remote was not working, and I called the front desk multiple times and finally left a message. We assumed it was batteries, and then walked to the front desk to get new ones. There was nobody there and we waited and waited. Finally went back to the room and realized the flashlight batteries were the same size. This did not fix the TV remote, which sort of sometimes worked if you were right up next to the corner of the TV. * Someone named Amber was still logged into Netflix; if you have apps on the TV they should all be logged out between guests. * The room itself is really dated, and has a lot of chipped paint. * The faucet for the sink comes out about 2" from the edge of the sink which does not work well. Come on people! Test things out. * The mattress and box springs are CLEARLY old; I felt springs through the mattress and my back hurt the next morning, not that I slept as it was such a bouncy bed because honestly it's trashed. The mattress pad doesn't fit anymore. * The next morning our brunch reservation - which WE HAD TO MAKE oh my god it's a random Wednesday in June for godsake make a reservation - was not entered. Did not matter as there were maybe five other people in the restaurant. PROS: * The views. * Kevin the waiter at brunch was very nice. * Amber (unknowingly) let us use her Netflix account. Thanks Amber.

From the time my husband phoned Cave B and talked to Sarah about making reservations to the close of the evening tonight we have been happy customers. The Yurt accommodations are lovely, the views spectacular and the pool ever so relaxing. Kelly greeted us by the pool welcoming us and was helpful with information. Sarah remembered us and was professional and friendly. The only honest feedback I can add is the front desk lacks knowledge of the resort, spa and surrounding activities. However, we will definitely stay another night and come back to stay.

Did you know that this fabulous winery is right next door to The Gorge Amphitheatre? If you didn't, and you're not already at The Gorge, be sure to call ahead and make sure there's not a concert happening on the day you want to come for a visit. Otherwise, you'll probably get stuck in a whole lot of traffic. We were able to walk over from The Gorge's RV Gold campground and spend part of an afternoon sipping delicious wines and enjoying a spectacular view from the sunny patio. The wine tasting was only $10 for generous pours of 3 whites and 3 reds that rotate frequently (possibly even daily). Most of Cave B's wines are on the dry side, so absolutely perfect for my taste. Honestly, there wasn't a bad apple in the bunch of our wine flight. I bought a bottle of the 2014 Unoaked Chardonnay and the 2014 Dry Rose to enjoy with friends during the rest of my stay in Washington. Apparently, each state can decide if it will allow out-of state alcohol shipments to individuals and, luckily, Colorado will allow Cave B to ship to me. So I expect to be tasting more of these yummy wines sometime soon! A variety of accommodations are available at Cave B for overnight stays. Choose from Cliffehouse, Cavern, or Inn rooms, Desert Yurts, or even overnight parking in your own RV. Glamping tents are also located just outside of the winery gates and just inside the Gorge campground during concerts. Be sure to take a hike down to the Columbia River during your stay. The trail is steep and somewhat rocky, so be prepared with the correct footwear. Afterwards, take a dip in the pool. Or actually, you know what, skip the hike and just do a massage and then lay by the pool sipping wine. That will most certainly be my agenda when I come back to Cave B for a weekend getaway.

This place sucks. The only good part is the tasting room. Apparently the original owners sold the hotel business to folks who have zero experience with hospitality. The overpriced "brunch" was pitiful. I preferred the Hostess Donnettes that I picked up at the gas station. The refrigerator is warm & the bathroom is flooding - for $425 per night. What a ripoff!

Somehow someone crawled inside my unconscious mind and designed a retreat spun from every wispy imagining of what a perfect moment here and there might resemble were they to coalesce into an earthly whole.... Walking through vines, kicking up bits of dusty gravel. Basking in the sun until just-beading with sweat, cold wine glass balanced on the arm of the chair. Wrapping up in a robe and standing barefoot on the terrace in the dark watching the moon and the tiny lights edging the winding paths through the vineyards. Standing in the shower with an open door and a view of the river and bluffs. Soaking in the tub with a light breeze coming through the eye-level window and watching the stars. Hiking down to the riverbank, watching the low bunkered buildings disappear behind the cliffs. Reading with wine and The New Yorker in front of a fire. Falling asleep, hearing nothing no matter how hard I tried to listen. Everything, all in one place. Perhaps my heaven....After only a scant twenty hours, I felt like a newly rejuvenated person with a store of lovely images and restful moments to keep in my mind on return to the real world. I imagine the time would be less restful in the busier high season, or during a performance at the Gorge next door, but I can already say I can't imagine a nicer spot to visit next March around this time. We stayed in a Cliffehouse (a freestanding large studio space, with fireplace, luxurious king bed, flagstone patio, and decadent bathtub); there are fifteen of these on the property, some with two bedrooms and all arranged facing westerly toward the Columbia River (about a forty-minute hike away). The Inn also offers cavern rooms (the most private views, as they sit at the edge of the property), a couple of suites in the main building itself, and a collection of yurts just south of the Cliffehouses. We spent the afternoon resting, reading, and drinking wine in the sun...and after a break for dinner, spent the evening doing more of the same (except without the sun this time). And in the morning we went for a hike down to the river; there are a few hiking options on the property, fairly easy to do aside from a few steep descents/ascents as a bluff edge transitions to a plateau and vice versa. It's a dog-friendly property, so although we didn't bring ours with us, we probably would plan to in the future to truly enjoy being outside, and to let him bask in the sun along with us. Since Tendrils is the only place to eat in the area, and since it's pricey (even though worth it for a nice dinner with the view it offers!), next time I plan to bring some of our own food with us. There's a small refrigerator available in the room, certainly big enough to keep supplies for a cheese and/or charcuterie platter, or some other prepared food. A picnic outside of your room (or really, anywhere on the property) would be a must on a warm-enough day. If you want a getaway that's a quick two and a half hours from Seattle, and quiet peacefulness, and just enough luxury to let you fully relax without feeling too extravagant, Cave B is somewhere you ought to think of going. I'm thinking about it again already....It'll be like coming home to somewhere I was always supposed to be.

    How are the yurts?

Horrible. There was dust/dirt every where. There were two earwigs in my towels. Nothing to cover the skylight for the mornings. Countless flies, uncomfortable bed and the stereo kept losing its Bluetooth connection.

She had a friend who was with her next to the front desk with a glass of wine. That was weird. The friend didn't say hi which is why I'm assuming she was not a staff member. She looked up at us when we walked in and I had to tell her we were checking in. She walked us through the property amenities and then sent us on our way. We returned the next day to use the gym and asked to confirm my spa appointment. She confirmed the time but not whether the 90 min was confirmed (we had called previously to extend to 90 min). We went to use the gym and when we came back down she was socializing with a coworker. She only came back to the front desk once we walked up to it to ask for extra towels. We also let her know we never got an email for the spa form. She had resent it before we headed to the gym. Her response, "that's weird." The hotel can't even figure out their email system. The gym is very minimal. There is a treadmill that is broken (stuck on incline) and dirty yoga mats. No water. No towels. There is a shower. When I arrived at the spa no one was manning the front desk. My massage therapist popped in and checked me in, apologizing that there was no one at the front desk. It was only after I checked in that the front desk person showed up. My massage therapist was very good. She accommodated a 90 minute session when I mentioned I requested it but did not get it. She also went over which I appreciated. Her name is Angela. Very experienced and highly recommend. We intended to eat at their bar where we enjoyed their pizza last year. The bartender informed us that because there is a private party that the kitchen won't be open till 7pm. I replied, "that's too bad as we enjoyed the pizzas last year. The bartender said that pizzas were not available till May. I let him know last year in March there were pizzas available. He thought it was odd as he knew of it as a summer thing. This made me think they were cutting down on costs again as they don't need to fire up their pizza oven. Checked out with same front desk lady. She just looks at me. No proactive greeting. The service here is severely lacking unfortunately. It does not feel like a top notch resort. I will not be back next year and will look somewhere else for my annual weekend getaway.

The bathroom was dark even with the lights on. Our room did come with water and a drink fridge. The bed was comfortable and the bst part was the outside deck and view that was had from there. We could see the pool and the river. I watched the sunrise from here and it was incredible. The wedding was in the event tent, which was warm and wind resistant because we had strong winds that night. The staff was super friendly and helpful. What we didn't know was what a special place Kathy and Brad had created for their guests. Our adventure started once we headed up a gravel road. At first, we thought we'd take a wrong turn - but no sooner that thought than a sign on a tree, "Mountain Home Lodge 2.2miles." We knew we were on the right track. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Sierra and Millie, the MHL doggies. Brad came out with Carlos to say hi, ask if we needed anything- and loaded up our things to take to the cabin. Brad made sure we knew how the things worked, turned on the music, and left us to settle in. The cabin was perfect! Chairs in front of the fireplace, fluffy king-sized bed, large jacuzzi tub, rocking chairs and table on the porch, and a comfy couch in the loft to watch a movie. Small details were not missed - light toiletries, kurieg, and coffee. Blankets on every chair inside and out and plenty of towels. Did I mention the water pressure was awesome!? Around 5:30, we headed to the Lodge for appetizers prepared by Kathy- squash soup shots with crustini, cream cheese, strawberries, and a balsamic glaze. The view was amazing while we munched on our goodies. Kathy and Brad are so friendly and full of easy conversation. After appetizers, we headed back to our cabin and played a couple round of chess - the upstairs hutch had a few games for us to play. We fired up the jacuzzi tub and enjoyed a drink while basking in the mountain. Millie and Sierra stopped by to say goodnight, which we loved being dog people. We sat on the porch with them and watched the sky change from light to dark. In the mornings, there is a delightful breakfast offered. Everything was delicious. Kathy and Brad made lovely recommendations for things to do and food to eat. We were considering a hike, and millie and Sierra offered to come along. Unfortunately, we didn't have time for a hike- but we will definitely go with them next time! While we ate breakfast in the lodge, we decided to check out the mountain with the binoculars. I think my husband spent most of his time peering at the mountain with the binoculars at the Lodge and cabin. But like I said, the small touches make this place special. It's definitely a wonderful place to unplug. The quiet, views, and accommodations are amazing. I'm so happy to add Mountian Home Lodge to our not so far- feels like a real vacation getaways.

As parents of a 3 year old and a 1 year old, we have not felt this relaxed in a LONG time. Brad and Kathy have thought of literally everything. Need a wine opener? No problem. Champagne chiller? You got it. Trail maps, walking sticks, snow shoes, movies to watch, games to play.... no problem. It's all there for guests to borrow. We stayed in the Mountain Trout room, which was nicely appointed with a queen bed, super plush carpet, comfy robes, oversized towels, and really nice sheets. As we were lucky enough to squeeze in after someone else canceled, we didn't get our pick of a room, but we didn't mind at all. Included in our rate was a healthy and delicious breakfast made by the lodge chef, using many ingredients harvested from the property. We were also treated to complimentary appetizers and wine in the evenings. It was divine. Brad and Kathy take great pride in the lodge and love to share their knowledge of the local area, from where to have dinner or where to hike. Like another reviewer said; nothing feels fake. You feel like a welcomed guest in a very comfortable setting, and you leave feeling like you have made new friends. A nice touch was the balloons that were in our room upon our arrival. They knew we were there for an anniversary and this was a very sweet gesture. We also found a small bottle of port waiting for us in our room each evening. A typical day was waking up, enjoying the lovely breakfast and views, chatting with the hosts and other guests, hiking the trails immediately behind the lodge (We did the Peshastin Lookout; approximately 5 miles RT and spectacular) with the resident dog "Millie", coming back for a soak in the outdoor hot tub, then walking or driving into downtown for shopping, dinner (if not eating at the lodge), or Oktoberfest shenanigans, then back to the lodge for a game of cards in the media room. Repeat. We would come back to MHL a million times over. 5 stars all the way around. Thank you so very much!

Overall, from the reviews, the suites looked like a good place for us to stay considering it had everything we needed to stay comfortably - also including an outstanding gym that is open 24/7 for guests to use. My group took advantage of the pool and jacuzzi available as well. The area is near vacation rental homes and, the best part, the columbia river. The view is down right amazing and one that I could look at for hours. The one down side of things is that you NEED to make sure you prepare correctly and bring in ALL your food before you head here. If not, you'll have to drive at least half an hour to the next nearby town to grab groceries or food. There is a wine bar and restaurant that is next door to all the rooms, but it isn't open all the time, so don't count on that being your only source of food. The resort is situated right outside of a gated community, however, they both share a pool and hot tub, which we were able to enjoy during our stay. PROS: Justin, the office/property manager, was very nice/helpful and made sure we were enjoying our stay, the pool/hot tub area was open until 11pm, in room washer/dryer, small but tasty restaurant right next to the office, very short drive to the boat launch/marina, restaurant option and ice cream shop nearby, clean playground/tennis courts, walkable distance to the river. CONS: no kitchen/cooking basics like oil, salt, pepper, sugar, spices, etc., some dishes/utensils were not cleaned very well, broken igniter button on grill (we used a gas lighter found in the kitchen), kitchen supplies were not similar to other suites our friends were in, i.e. they had saran wrap/foil and we didn't, room rates can get pricey during peak/summer/concert season. TIPS: bring your own cooking necessities/food if you plan on eating in for some meals, esp cooking oil/butter, spices, etc. as no grocery stores are around, bring pool floaties/beach toys if you have kids, bring water (tap water tasted off to us), oh and a boat if you have one laying around.

(an obvious courtesy they don't have to extend). The receptionist kindly stated the obvious that they needed the 2-3 hours for turn over.. You know how they should address your problem? You check out of the room by 11 and the hotel by 11... there your problem is solved. Please don't embarrass us Romanians like that next time and listen to your wife about not being rude to staff (this was when we were in the sauna and you just couldn't seem to stop talking)... I tried so hard not to pay attention to you but you couldn't help but draw attention to yourself. Next time please be quieter or just don't talk at all. I know this is embarrassing for you. Everything at this hotel is EXCELLENT as usual. The only thing that made it less excellent was your complaining. I can already see the future, you calling the hotel to complain about my review because I'm 100% sure you're about to post a complaint and will stumble upon this... please when you call to complain to the hotel about my review, will you let them know you're the short Romania man that I'm talking about...... who complained about having to check out of the room and still being allowed to use the amenities. Salute. Pool staff is excellent, they stay very professional and have classy behavior. The only time we've had issues at the pool is when there are needy guest. They draw so much attention to themselves when we're just trying to relax. Thankfully it's only been a few of the times we've been there. These people usually strike me as those less fortunate in spirit and at the bank. It's clear they over extended their bank account and are trying to milk it for every cent. I wish I could tell them to just go home but that would be giving them the attention they desperately seek.. and I'm sure would cause the staff more issues. Reception and dinning staff also excellent. They are very professional and kind. I've gotten so used to coming here I hate to say I have forgotten some of the formalities like waiting to be seated in the dinning room but the staff didn't make me feel bad for it. I was just very embarrassed. Thank you again for a wonderful stay. I wish I could take this hotel home with me every time I leave.

It's beyond me how anyone can have a poor experience here. I suppose it's possible, but it…read moreshouldn't hasn't been the case for us anytime that we've gone. This place is over the top incredible! Paragraph the rooms are very nicely appointed, with lots of space to spread out, many have balconies, and almost all have very nice showers and soaking tubs. The TVs are fine, but you really shouldn't be here for the TVs! The main attraction here, hopefully other than your spouse, is the refresh and relaxation area, which includes tons of different heated, cooled, nice smelling, and otherwise luxurious rooms where your job is to relax. They have an incredible, indoor outdoor pool, hot tubs, huge lounge chairs, and really just about anything that you could imagine to help you relax. Whether you want to sit in a hot Norwegian sauna or a cool room that smells like mint, or a steam room that smells of lavender, the world is your proverbial oyster! The big hack here is that you are able to check in in the early afternoon, enjoy the spa for most of the afternoon, have yourself a lovely evening, and then enjoy the spa until the early afternoon the next day. Well, it's only 24 hours, it feels like you're there for two days. The breakfast and dinner options are quite delightful as they have really up to the food game here over the past few years. There are some fun restaurants around town, but despite our persistent desire to find new places, we ended up just eating here the last time we were in town. Overall, there's no reason they shouldn't be a place that you absolutely love! You definitely pay for what you get and what you get is phenomenal!

We stayed here in August of 2010 for a wedding that was taking place next door at Cave B Inn. The…read morebest part was that the rates were less then Cave B and after a long night of wine and food we were able to stumble back to our yurt without worrying about driving to a hotel in Moses Lake. At the time we checked in we didn't realize that Cave B and Chiwana Village were separately operated and we couldn't check in at the lobby of Cave B. Instead we were guided to a separate office to the couple that runs it. Both were very welcoming, nice, and accommodating staying past the time they normally do to check us in. All in all I was a fan. Pros: -The yurt felt like most high end hotels but with a safari twist and definitely very clean. -King sized bed and very comfortable (I think they all have king size beds). -Had a fridge, very large leather sofa, electricity, large bath room with shower (none have a tub), AC/Heat. -The night sky with the millions of stars to look at. -The gorge amphitheater is right there but the crowed isn't. Heads up: -No phone and TV. Since there was a wedding we didn't need the TV but it would have been nice to have one for the time we were in the Yurt. As for the phone our cell phones were dodgy at best and I would have felt safer with a land line if we had an emergency or question. -A flashlight is a must if you plan to walk around the grounds after sunset. It does get dark and much of the trails/walkways do not have lighting. Luckily they provided a small flashlight on our key chain that lit up our path from Cave B to the yurt. -There isn't a front desk to call after hours. The info packet listed Cave B as a contact even though they are separately operated. -The noise of the bathroom light/fan. It will wake anyone up in the middle of the night and there is no way to turn them separately on or the other off/on

Eww!!!!! Not deserving of any stars so why make me give it one???…read more I've never wrote a review this bad but, it has to be done. Seriously the nastiest place I've ever stayed and had to pay to do it. If you're going to a concert at The Gorge, book something else early and save yourself this Amityville Horror! Think of this place as a very large honey bucket inside the Bates Motel. Bring your Lysol wipes (wipe every surface down prior to touching), sleeping bags, pillows, blankets and whatever else you'd use to camp out. Oh....and don't even think you're sitting in the chair that's stained with who knows what. Bring your flip flops too because the carpet is beyond sketchy!! There are no clocks but don't you think about checking out a second late because Mr. Miyagi will charge you $20; apparently that's the hourly rate at this fine establishment. We didn't even shower because it looked so disgusting we decided to just take off and save ourselves the horror of being in that room one moment longer. The comforters smelled, blankets had cigarette burns, no outlets in the vile bathroom, a phone straight out of the 70's, no dead bolt on the door; we just barricaded it. The one Exit door was locked from the inside so getting out during a fire (which seems like it could happen at any moment), would have been very interesting. Watch TV? Umm.....pick a fuzzy line filled channel and enjoy. Don't forget to wipe the remote down with one of your Lysol wipes first though. You want to hear it? Nope, volume only goes so high, sorry. Wait.....that one channel comes in REAL loud; you know, the infomercial channel. Save yourself the nightmare and stay ANYWHERE else!!! We just had to start making a joke of it. We called the carpet lava and would warn each other not to forget to put our lava shoes on before getting off the bed.
