SageCliffe has gone downhill from last year. Seems they're cutting down on costs. When we arrived there was no welcome drink/glass. The front desk treated us as if we were bothering her. She had a friend who was with her next to the front desk with a glass of wine. That was weird. The friend didn't say hi which is why I'm assuming she was not a staff member. She looked up at us when we walked in and I had to tell her we were checking in. She walked us through the property amenities and then sent us on our way. We returned the next day to use the gym and asked to confirm my spa appointment. She confirmed the time but not whether the 90 min was confirmed (we had called previously to extend to 90 min). We went to use the gym and when we came back down she was socializing with a coworker. She only came back to the front desk once we walked up to it to ask for extra towels. We also let her know we never got an email for the spa form. She had resent it before we headed to the gym. Her response, "that's weird." The hotel can't even figure out their email system. The gym is very minimal. There is a treadmill that is broken (stuck on incline) and dirty yoga mats. No water. No towels. There is a shower. When I arrived at the spa no one was manning the front desk. My massage therapist popped in and checked me in, apologizing that there was no one at the front desk. It was only after I checked in that the front desk person showed up. My massage therapist was very good. She accommodated a 90 minute session when I mentioned I requested it but did not get it. She also went over which I appreciated. Her name is Angela. Very experienced and highly recommend. We intended to eat at their bar where we enjoyed their pizza last year. The bartender informed us that because there is a private party that the kitchen won't be open till 7pm. I replied, "that's too bad as we enjoyed the pizzas last year. The bartender said that pizzas were not available till May. I let him know last year in March there were pizzas available. He thought it was odd as he knew of it as a summer thing. This made me think they were cutting down on costs again as they don't need to fire up their pizza oven. Checked out with same front desk lady. She just looks at me. No proactive greeting. The service here is severely lacking unfortunately. It does not feel like a top notch resort. I will not be back next year and will look somewhere else for my annual weekend getaway. read more

We stayed here for a wedding weekend and had a great time. This is a secluded property with great views and direct access to The Gorge amphitheater. The long entrance driveway take you by some of their other property types like the condos and standalone houses. Check in was a breeze and our cliffhouse (also standalone) was just a short walk from the main building. The room itself had character, but could have been maintained better. The bathroom was dark even with the lights on. Our room did come with water and a drink fridge. The bed was comfortable and the bst part was the outside deck and view that was had from there. We could see the pool and the river. I watched the sunrise from here and it was incredible. The wedding was in the event tent, which was warm and wind resistant because we had strong winds that night. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I spent some time in my friend's home on the property and they all are individually owned and have hot tubs. The whole lace is upscale, but not pretentious! read more

Overselling Gift Cards The marketing strategy resulted in an excessive number of gift cards being sold through Costco. This overselling has created a situation where the company is unable to honor weekend stays for gift card holders. you must use this voucher before May 15th. sold during Christmas. only allowing you 5 months to use the card. From the moment the gift card was received, attempts were made to book a weekend stay. However, every weekend appears to be fully booked, making it impossible to redeem the gift card for a weekend visit. The gift card itself does not mention any restrictions regarding weekend stays. Despite this, weekend bookings cannot be secured, which causes confusion and frustration for customers. While weekend stays are unavailable, customers are offered alternatives such as upgrading from a cavern room to a cabin or booking a stay during the week. These options may not align with the original intent or expectations. The inability to use the gift card as intended, coupled with unclear terms and limited alternatives, has led to considerable dissatisfaction. read more

Total cost is about $630 for one night. - Internet doesn't work. - Toilet seat broken. - Wood baseboard along the bathroom floor is water damaged. - Marks on the wall. We came here for a staycation mini getaway. We were pleasantly surprised, it was beautiful. We stayed at one of the sagecliffe cabin houses and we pretty much the last ones on the end. It was so secluded and peaceful, didn't see anyone to the right of us, as the left were just fields. We felt like we were by ourselves and were so far away from civilization. We loved every minute of it. It started to snow as well during the day which made it so much better. Only downside was when we wanted to do dinner we just wanted to walk to the restaurant, but it is so dark and not greatly lit which makes it hard to see. They did give out little flashlights but they didn't really light much in front of us. Other than that, the food was delicious and the staff were great. We would definitely come back. read more

I went on a birthday trip with my sisters to Sagecliffe and we all had the best time!!! The restaurant was delicious and the views were spectacular. We all also got massages at the spa and it was exactly what we needed. Prior to our massage we had a chance to talk with our masseuse to make sure we got exactly what we needed!! We all had slightly different but all round an amazing experience. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a crowd free, quiet, and relaxing weekend. We recently stayed here for a couple nights on a resort hopping motorcycle trip . Loved this resort. Loved the views of course. Loved the pool with the gorgeous waterfall and koi pond. We enjoyed this place so much. We will be back. Only recommendation might be they need their front desk staff to be a-little more professionally trained for such a high end resort . They seemed like " Doe in the headlights" versus a quality professional in the service industry. Also they did "not have staff "so the whiskey bar wasn't open. Bummer to not have something basic as the whiskey bar open at this price point. In contrast to our next destination of suncadia which is fully staffed and working like a well oiled Machine! The best customer service was Kevin at the pool bar! He was so nice and went above and beyond on customer service! So professional and resort quality service! Overall we loved this place and highly recommend for a wedding venue! read more

We stayed in one of the yurts. First, upon entering the yurt, the smell of sewage and outhouse was pretty prevalent. The rug was disgustingly dirty. The sofa speaks for itself. (See picture) The bed and linens were so old that it was barely a step up from camping. The winds were very heavy which isn't a problem in and of itself but when the window flaps have been duct taped and since failed, the unrelenting noise all night is unbearable. The small HVAC unit tries to keep up but all it does is add additional noise to the room. For almost $300 a night, I expect more. read more

If I could sum up this place and my stay into one sentence it's this: BUYER BEWARE! For what this place is charging a night (400+) one would expect alot more. I'm not stating the following to sound pretentious rather to tell others for the price this place charges you should be getting way way way more in services here. The only thing this place has on it's cards to play is the view and wine. Everything else is crap. I was reserved a stay at one of their condos, which is a far-off drive from the main lodge. I arrived way late at night and let me tell you, you are screwed if you need to navigate this place in pitch dark. The signs have zero distinction and no lighting! So the whole time I had my high beams on in order to see. When I finally made it over to the condos it was pure hell just even walking to it. Forget it if you have roller luggage because it's all gravel and zero lights to see your path. Imagine carrying your bags while holding your phone to shine a light. Yeah, its not fun! The condo itself was fine however it would've been nice to have had bottled water. Instead, I found a half-frozen brita water pitcher with leftover water in it. Gross! I also found plenty of leftover tea and K-cups. Even the water wasn't changed out or empty for the Keurig. Guess that's too much to ask again when one is spending nearly $400 a night for. Oh and have fun trying to call the front desk if they answer. Literally I had to make several calls in order for someone to pick up. When I asked the front desk regarding pool privileges the girl on the other end gave zero details as how to get to the pool or even bothered to show someone who's never stayed there. Now for the pool, though the place is beautiful, however, if you have a disability or are unable to walk or are just plain elderly you're f**** because you have to go down a steep ass hill in order to get to the pool and hike it back up. I don't know how parents with strollers and pool toys did this. While the pool is nice, it does get insanely busy on the weekends so get their early to mark your spot in the shade. I didn't bother with any of the food or cafe at the resort. After reading reviews about the lack luster food and checking out the menu myself I deemed it not worth it. I'd also like to mention that my 'condo' didn't even have window screens screwed in. I went to open a window to let in the cool night air and the whole screen came off and already had a massive tear in it. Again, $400 a night for this garbage. In the end I decided to leave early because I had enough. Though they were nice enough to give me a credit for the remaining day, they decided to also stick it to me with a "late charge" for checking out. Really?! Take my solid advice and avoid this place if you're wanting to do something special. I'd only come back here as a last resort if I were stuck at the gorge. read more

Sagecliffe is serene. I was looking for a getaway that would enable me to go off the grid and enjoy peace and quiet. Sagecliffe did not disappoint. I've sat in my Adirondack chair and enjoyed the sounds of the wild life and Columbia Gorge. Looking for a break in the action? Sagecliffe's whiskey bar is perfect for watching sports events. Tendril's restaurant is lovely. I highly recommend Safecliffe if you're looking for a quiet getaway. read more

BUT: restaurant is overpriced and very mediocre, signage is terrible, service is inadequate and unhelpful. It's a shame ... this place could be such a gem if it had anyone who cared managing it. Winter getaway so nice and quiet, downside is the restaurant had a very limited menu. Amazing views from the Cliffhouses, note the beds are incredibly firm. We stayed two nights and after the first sleepless night we requested a move to another room so the front desk showed us a second place but the bed was just as firm. read more

This property has a lot of problems. It starts with terrible signage on the vast estate making it difficult to navigate to different places and easy to end up at a dead end at the loading dock of the on-site winery. This might even be forgiven but for so many other flaws. The front desk staff, if you want to call them staff, seem to have absolutely no idea what is going on about anything and differ even the smallest question to "the manger" or "maintenance" who are entities that do not seem to be present on the property. I suspect that the teenagers that have at the front desk are making peanuts so maybe this is all I can expect. We arrived 15 minutes before the check in time of 4 pm and we were told our room was not ready. They would call us in a few minutes. Well ok... Except they never called and we had to hunt someone down an hour later... The room was ready. The most serious problem was that the sewer system on the property seems to have some problems. There was a continuous leak of sewage from a subsurface conduit near our room. Very foul, gross, and unhealthy. Don't worry, they will inform maintenance of the problem. There are not many choices in this area so people stay here. Try to avoid it if you can. But, hey, the views are fantastic. read more

Breakfast with a handsome man at Sagecliff - is one of life's best memories. The chef turned avocado toast into something really special - with two eggs over easy. My handsome man had eggs Benedict with a secret sauce - and lots of coffee. The staff was warm, friendly and helpful. Is it worth a 2 hour drive west of Seattle? This pocket of man-meets-nature is something special. Go with someone who makes your heart happy - and leave the children home. They can go on their own someday. :) read more

The place is amazing, but we had a disappointing experience with the management. To the owner: My girlfriend recently posted a video promoting Sage Cliff that gained over 300k views. We've been loyal customers for years, and today we booked one of the condos, not realizing it didn't come with a pool pass. My girlfriend's father is visiting from across the country, so we kindly asked the manager if we could get a pass just for an hour to show him the pool, even sharing the video to explain our loyalty. Unfortunately, the manager rudely declined. This isn't how you should treat loyal customers who have given free promotion. We'll be removing the video, but it would be great if the management could show more understanding in the future. read more

The food is as amazing as the views. My husband had the tenderloin, yes it was pricey but it was the most tender, well seasoned, cooked to perfection, mouth watering steak he's ever had. My crab cakes were the best crab cakes, there was plenty of crab in my cake, if you know what I mean. The food, atmosphere and the views from the vineyards over the gorge cliffs makes this place a MUST eat. read more

We celebrated our anniversary in Cliffehouse #8 at the SageCliffe Inn (formerly the Cave B Inn). Wow! We had seven floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. Cliffehouse #8 is a detached unit with a small entry way, a living room, a master bedroom with a large bathroom. The living room and bedroom are separated by a gas fireplace visible from both rooms. There is lots of room to spread out, relax and enjoy the unit, and there are great walking paths throughout the property through the vineyards to the excellent restaurant (Tendrils), the outdoor swimming pool, a small pond, an outdoor stage and the wine tasting building. The tree-lined driveway passes through vineyards and apple orchards on the way to from the main road to the edge of the cliff where the SageCliffe Inn properties are located. The incredible views of the Gorge are visible from everywhere on the property! We enjoyed our clean room, the comfy bed, the romantic fireplace, the complimentary eucalyptus scented bath products, the friendly and efficient service from the front desk, and the delicious seafood from Tenrils restaurant (delivered to the door of our room in a large insulated black box). This was the perfect place to spend a romantic weekend! read more

The accommodations are spectacular, beautiful- HOWEVER... when I made the reservation several weeks in advance, I chose this not only for the scenery- but for the Spa Services for my daughter and myself. I emailed back and forth with the hotel reservation manager and asked if they could accommodate us early check in, because the spa closing at 5 was not enough time. He got back to me and said the "spa will work to get you in"... he didn't mention that their ONLY massage therapist was out on maternity leave and that we had no chance in heck to get in!! My daughter was so extremely disappointed - as this was a HUGE reason we paid $350 to stay one night! It's a long way to drive from Olympia to be told "no, sorry we can't get you in"! Very very disappointing and I feel like they could have been more forthcoming before they took my non-refundable payment.! read more

Extremely hard to make reservations here. We are from out of state first off. I am a personal assistant and my boss was very adamant about getting a day pass to the pool & spa. She's been able to purchase day passes in the past. I emailed back-and-forth for several days with little response from the reservations department (carlee specifically) and called several times but was sent to voicemail every time. My boss was not happy and I got absolutely reamed out because she was expecting the experience she had in the past. Within the emails, the reservation department questioned myself & my position, and my boss in her position which rubbed me the absolute wrong way. read more
