Massively cheaper than camping at the gorge and near good restaurants.

Parking is a bit of a hassle and we ended up paying the $10 for hotel, parking in a lot around the corner. It was worth it as we could walk to restaurants within blocks of the hotel. As for the room itself, it was moderately sized but we had room for all our gear without tripping over anything. The king sized bed was comfortable with 5 pillows provided (the norm seems to be 4 nowadays). The room was very quiet but the bathroom has a sliding barn door which unfortunately doesn't muffle bathroom noises which should be private. Decor is soothing warm neutrals with a small sofa and a desk chair provided for seating. There is a small frig but no microwave. Keurig is provided for in room coffee but I would recommend going down to the lobby where fresh brewed coffee seems to be provided. 22/7. We did not check out the rooftop garden due to the weather. Would've enjoyed a drink in the cozy bar adjacent to the lobby but it doesn't seem to be open yet. I would definitely stay here again should I have the need to overnight in Ellensburg.

So last week, on my way to Seattle I decided to stay the night in beautiful Ellensburg, WA (home to Central Washington University). Since it was just for a couple nights, I decided to get something downtown so I could walk around. I found Hotel Windrow online, booked the room and what a fantastic surprise. This boutique hotel is indeed RIGHT downtown. It's stylish, easy to find, obviously in a great location, and the property includes a hip little lobby bar a space called 'Top of the Berg' which is a rooftop area with fire pits, etc. very cosmopolitan. The rooms were lovely, very homey with a small couch, desk, large bathroom and comfortable bed. I walked two blocks to a fantastic Italian meal (more about that in another review) and overall, had a truly fantastic and easy night. A couple amenities to highlight include ample parking and electric charging spaces for electric cars or hybrids. I love finds like this, and plan on making at least one night stay over a regular occurrence now if I'm traveling on I-90. Recommended.

First stay here, on a weekend. Prices were modestly high (not a value play here)…read more Very clean, we had our doggies with us, so we were on ground floor. There is a pet-friendly area out the back, with ample doggie-doo-baggies. The free breakfast was a-ok - they had microwaved sausage and reconstituted egg some typical dried-up little pastries, various fresh fruit, a fridge with good yogurt and almond milk, good strong coffee and a nice waffle-making station that worked fantastic. The beds, very comfortable, and surprisingly good pillows. The room was quiet despite the hotel being sold out. TV, worked good, had HBO. AC/heat worked, a mini fridge and microwave in room rounded out the amenities. Outside, i noted a couple barbeques, and a fish cleaning station. We joined the Best Western guest club - and they've added a nice touch where you can elect not to have maid service and get extra points instead. So lets talk about the 'green' effort. Lots of signage advocating 'save the planet', leave towels on rack, etc. I did like that coffee cups and the breakfast plates were paper. BUT, the inroom paper cups were wrapped in plastic. Lots of single use plastic cups, horrifically wrapped again in plastic (in case something touches the plastic we've wrapped it in more plastic). In the dining room, a stack of single use plastic cups for the sole purpose of pouring waffle batter, one time (I went and grabbed a paper cup for this) Staff was always delightful and friendly.

Plenty of time." I got to the front desk. Nice lady with blue hair. Goes into a dissertation about the unusual check out time and that she would ask the Owner if I should receieve a refund all or part. ( I have not said a word much less ask for refund; I dont deserve one) So front desk blue hair makes a call allegedly to the Owner. She redirects her attention to me and says: 'No refund. Too late to clean the room.' NOT a very sophisticated liars. I don't like being lied to. Do you? I did not ask for a refund....but it was a good excuse to fabricate BS. Totally unnecessary. LOUSY TV programming. Very low budget.

This hotel, and this town, have seen better days, probably…read more There are some indications that the hotel is updating, piece by piece, to match other hotels under the IHG umbrella. And there are other indications, like the melodious chirping toilet, that this hotel is a bit in need of help. Also, it's not the greatest part of town - not their fault but there it is. Maybe no place is the greatest part of town anymore. I knew Ellensburg many years ago and it was very charming. There are still shops, still a rodeo, still a handsome college campus. The amount of delinquents charging around in their loud vehicles was offputting. I will go so far as to theorize that they were circling the hotel in the hopes of preying on the young girls staying there who were part of a softball team (or whichever group might be there at the time). I'm going to say all that and also say that we felt cozy and safe in our room, and we slept fine. Mothers, though, watch your daughters. Luckily (?), there was also a strong police presence in the evening. Staff was friendly, competent; the facilities were fine. One newish hotelish thing is that they took out the coffee machines from the rooms and asked guests to get their coffee in the lobby or ask staff to put the machine back. Did not love this.

Aside from really good amenities, this place is not worth staying at for any price…read more Although there is excellent ADA access with an entire floor accessible via a wheelchair ramp that has a gentile slope and a number of ADA accessible rooms, and the floors going into the rooms is even and easy to navigate. The pool was tolerably cold but the hot tub was comfortable. The whole place was very quiet, which is unusual for places with a centralized corridor. I cannot stress enough that having a very curious Autistic child makes the rooms a danger to their safety overall. We ended up having to have our son sleep in his wheelchair just to feel safe enough for him to be in the room without the risk of getting hurt. We had to unplug the phone immediately to put it up out of the way. We had to unplug the table lamps because the plugs kept falling out (until our son went to sleep). We had to unplug the clock and put it up high because he kept trying to play with it. The place really needs a proper remodel badly as there is a lot of potential given its location.

I hesitated to book this hotel after reading all the reviews, but then I decided to give it a try…read moresince there were also good reviews. The hotel itself is old and a bit worn out, but it's clean and functional. The staff were friendly. While it's not fancy, I think the conditions of the hotel were generally acceptable. Every employee was super friendly and helpful. So why am I giving only 4 stars? For some reason, nobody in the reviews mentioned the train problem. What? Train? Yes, there is a railway nearby. The trains ran throughout the night, even 2-3 am. If the trains just ran through, maybe it wasn't a big problem for me since I used to live by the railway in Tokyo. The trains sounded their horns. Every horn would woke us up every time! We stayed there to avoid any potential commute problem for my son's State Solo & Ensemble competition. We expected to let him have more rest, less stress for the night before the competition. With the train horns, I honestly regretted staying there. It wasn't the hotel's fault, but I also think since the hotel was so close to the railway, they should at least install double-pane windows to reduce the noises. The breakfast was free, but only bread, bagels, and waffles. It's free, so I don't have any complaint. But still, I would want more hot breakfast or more fruits selections. One more issue is the quality of the bed. I guess the beds were old, so when I lied down, I couldn't keep my back straight, which caused me a back pain. If you are not sensitive to the sound, maybe this hotel is not bad. As its rate is very affordable. But if you are sensitive to the sound, I wouldn't recommend this unless you plan to stay up for the night.
