From fruits and vegetables to Wagyu beef and foie gras, they have it all for the at-home chef. The Long Version: My husband and I love Farmers' Markets, so while planning our trip to Laval, I marked Marché Public 440 as one of the places for us to check out. We went in May so the outdoors section was open. I doubt it's open year-round, like the indoors section. The outdoors section had lots of affordably priced fruits and vegetables. We ended up getting 5 containers of blackberries for $1 each. We also got 2 packs of baby cucumbers. Each pack had 6 cucumbers and they were $2 each or 2 packs for $3. The indoors section is significantly pricier, but they have gourmet items. They had expensive cuts of meats, gourmet cheeses and artisan chocolates. They had a few eateries too, which ranged in prices. It's a fun place to walk around. Lots of free parking in their private parking lot. Review #97 (2025)

I think the owners are Korean as they carry lots of Korean foods and the majority of their prepared meals are Korean. I have fond memories of Eden from when I was living in Montreal, first as a poor and starving undergrad, then as a poorer and more starving grad student, lol. I would typically buy my groceries at Segal's Market and Marche Lobo, but when I had some extra money (i.e. after my birthday and Christmas) I would splurge at Eden. I love their baked goods display. Seeing knishes, arancini, empanadas, Jamaican patties, and samosas all together in one display is so symbolic of the cultural mosaic that is Canada. The sushi at Eden, although pre-packaged, is very good (for grocery store sushi) and much cheaper than at Loblaws and other such places. The grocery store is very clean and well lit. Staff are nice. There have been a few renovations over the years and it's much more modern looking now than when I lived in Montreal. There will always be a special place in my heart for Eden ;)

The vibes were very cozy and I liked the ambiance/decor :) I got the Hawawshi sandwich which was the perfect amount of heat (counteracted by a pleasant yogurt source). It was also a fitting portion for me without being overly heavy on a hot summer day, the pita was thin and crispy too which probably added to that effect. While I'm not sure about the other items, I'd recommend the Hawawshi! It's located in a pretty convenient location as well.

The price is right too. Super friendly staff, and I love the business model, giving lots of creative freedom to the chef, not being boxed in by the same meals every day. Ordered a bunch of different things and literally 5-stars across the board. I will DEFINITELY be returning here regularly going forward. The ingredients taste fresh and there seem to be an effort put into choosing local and seasonal products. Watch out to go somewhat close to opening time as they tend to sell out in the early afternoon! There's also a fridge with a few other options you can purchase (ex. fried rice, smashed cucumber, eggplants). The cook and the front of store lady are both very kind and welcoming. It could be more or less but I stopped when I saw dark chocolate. After that you could pick from so many toppings that were fresh and very aesthetically pleasing. The people who make these ice creams are little artists. Now obviously there have to be a couple of cons: 1. Only one favor ice cream, okay with me but my daughter was upset. 2. They don't sell bottled water. The ice cream was so rich and sweet you need to sell water to keep you from going into a diabetic coma. Overall, I'll be going back! My ice cream was to die for. I had: medium ice cream in a cone dipped in dark chocolate and garnished with hazelnuts. Daughter had: medium ice cream in a cup with milk chocolate and garnished with chocolate sprinkles, rainbow sprinkles, and marshmallows. I'll admit, I was influenced to eat here based on videos I saw on Instagram hyping this place up…read more Overall, the one word that sums up my experience: meh. Firstly, I didn't realize that if you want eat in (there's only a handful of barstools in the VERY small space - but sometimes the best food comes from a hole in the wall!) you have to wait 25min for your lasagna to be warmed up. So it's essentially a takeout counter with premade, cold lasagna. Now I'm not saying it's not made fresh, this is certainly not like grocery store freezer aisle lasagna, but it was just not what I was expecting. So I ended up taking mine to go because why sit there for 25min while the lasagna warms up if I could be in the comfort of my own home? I got a small meat lasagna with tomato sauce and a small meat with rose sauce. I will say at $10 for a small, the quantity is great. A small could easily serve two people and the large is only $14. For the taste test- maybe I was mistaken in choosing to take my lasagnas to go. The tomato sauce lasagna didn't have that ooey gooey hot cheesy thing going on, not sure if my home oven did the trick or if the lasagna itself is to blame. The rose sauce lasagna did get nice and steamy (I heated them both together for the same amount of time so not sure how that happened). The tomato sauce one was underwhelming. Nothing to critique, but nothing impressive about it. The rose sauce was more interesting maybe because of the creamy element. But even that isn't a lasagna I'd rave about or recommend someone go out of their way to try. All in all, I was left feeling disappointed. If a restaurant only makes one thing, they better make it really well, and this missed the mark.
