I think the owners are Korean as they carry lots of Korean foods and the majority of their prepared meals are Korean. I have fond memories of Eden from when I was living in Montreal, first as a poor and starving undergrad, then as a poorer and more starving grad student, lol. I would typically buy my groceries at Segal's Market and Marche Lobo, but when I had some extra money (i.e. after my birthday and Christmas) I would splurge at Eden. I love their baked goods display. Seeing knishes, arancini, empanadas, Jamaican patties, and samosas all together in one display is so symbolic of the cultural mosaic that is Canada. The sushi at Eden, although pre-packaged, is very good (for grocery store sushi) and much cheaper than at Loblaws and other such places. The grocery store is very clean and well lit. Staff are nice. There have been a few renovations over the years and it's much more modern looking now than when I lived in Montreal. There will always be a special place in my heart for Eden ;)

The gnocchi with foie gras was indulgent in the best way, and the turkey and sausage dish was hearty and satisfying. Everything is well seasoned, the bred is good and I was so impressed by the salad. It looked really simple with rice, meat (chicken and beef), corn, grated carrot and other veggies, but the with the soy sauce it was so nice, the taste was good and it was not too heavy. But I did go on a Sunday night so it was emptier than usual. There is a table in the center that has plugs for your charger cables but it's not the best seat. I wish they had more plugs in the corners of the store to be unbothered. It achieves the purpose of being a good Internet cafe to study or get some work done which is what I needed at the time. The menu is the same as any other second cup so if you like their offerings, you will still like them here.

My favorite chocolates are their dark chocolate caramel barrels, the chocolate outer layer is excellent quality and very thin so that there is a lot of caramel filling. Their store is pretty large, they sell special chocolate creations for all occasions, they make custom cakes by order only and they also sell maltitol (sugar free) chocolates, which are also very good. In the summer Heyez also makes several chocolate ice cream creations. I've tried also of chocolate shops in Montreal but Heyez remains my favorite.
