Plenty of space to relax with friends and family. Yummy sandwiches and pastries too! I really enjoyed my iced mocha!

Turnover + ube latte

I planned a work meeting on a Friday midday. I was shocked to see every single table at Crema was taken! These guys are busy. We ordered at the counter and managed to grab a table when someone was leaving. The cafe has got a great selection of specialty coffee, other drinks, as well as a huge amount of both pastries and prepared foods. Everything was tasty. I liked the for-here mug. Staff was welcoming and efficient. The line ebbed and flowed so the wait was never too long. The shop vibe is lively with people chatting and/or working on laptops. Free wifi. Parking in the area is challenging so plan to circle a few times and walk a few blocks.

GET THE JALAPENO CHEDDAR CORN BISCUIT. Enjoyed my lavender lemonade, boyfriend said th coldbrew was decent. They have so many pastries and sandos to choose from! Good luck deciding :) Enjoyed their sunny patio. Good vibes all around.

macha latte

Had a macha latte that was very good, not too sweet. Friend had a cappucino. Both came with the palm leaf style coffee art. Friend purchased a loaf of bread to take home and ate the bacon and egg breakfast sandwich for a late lunch. Their savory food is definitely a strong point, she said it was tasty and filling. 4 stars because the counter staff person was actually sullen. I don't expect the fake cheery you get from the big chains but the young woman with the Cleopatra eyeliner was having a bad day I guess. The barista was pleasant though and his coffee art was beautiful. On Saturday between 1 and 2 even though there was plenty of seating, every single table was taken so you had a wait a bit for someone to leave their table to snag one but this was probably their busiest time of the week. Parking is challenging in the area due to all the small businesses but just circle a few times.

Saturday morning. I always expect any coffee shops to be busy, and they are no exception. You may have to wait for your drink and some seating to be opened. But I like that once you sit down, it is comfortable, and high sealing gives you open space. If the weather is nice, you could sit outside as well. It is located in an area with access to many stores, restaurants, and cafes, easy parking, and a good place to meet with people and catch up.

I really overall like Crema and recently had an unfortunate experience that may have honestly moved me to a three-star review, BUT the staff at Crema handled it all so well, that I went right back to a five-star! Essentially, I ended up landing at Crema, ordered a coffee and a piece of nectarine crumble pie, and settled into a corner table to get some work done. On the first bite, I noticed a long hair in the pie, typically, I would honestly just throw it out and let it go as I have spent many years in food service and know how easy it is for something like this to happen, but this time, when I went to pull it out, I couldn't because it was baked into the crust. At that point, I was too grossed out to continue, so...I went back to the counter and explained the situation. The counter person, immediately took the plate away, offered me anything else as a replacement, handed me a $5 card for a future purchase at Crema, and apologized profusely. How is THAT for customer service!!

This was quite a busy shop, tons of people coming and going of all ages. Plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside. Felt a little industrial and dark. They have tons of baked goods to choose from and even a small menu of sandwich type things. I ordered a bacon and egg breakfast sandwich and even though it was tasty, I was not satisfied and kept me wanting more. It was the smallest sandwich. The size I would choose for a child. Would not order that again, or their sandwiches if they are similar in size. The cappuccino was good. Medium, no complaints. I ordered a Marionberry pastry that I ate later that day. It tasted good, the crust was flakey, but there was too much cheese filling and not enough berry. It did the job. Would come again.

TWO WORDS: Sticky bun. Is that one or two words? Well either was the sticky bun was absolutely amazing and you must go just for that treat. We came for the coffee and stayed for the sticky bun. Coffee was good, not overly sweet, just how I like it. I also tried their seasonal watermelon agua Fresca - refreshing and good! The service was welcoming and quick! The front of the house was happy to walk through the menu and treats as I decided to pick what I wanted. I can wait to come back and try their other offerings. Parking is limited to street parking, but we had no problem finding a spot. Plenty of seating - looked like a lot of students and work from home going on here for a change of scenery!

The food that I ordered was absolutely disgusting. I had banh mi sandwich and the chicken looked and tastes like it was canned and very cheap. The veggies were in a separate plastic bag for some reason. I only had one bite and threw away the whole box.. the coffee was good tho. I haven't tried the bakery. The place looks very dirty and messy in a kitchen area. That's why I didn't risk finishing my food that already tastes really bad.. the server was very nice lady

Hot mulled cider & Chai Latte

Popped in put of the cold rain for a warm drink. Sis ordered a Chai latte and I got a hot apple cider. It was as juicy as a biting into a crisp apple and warmed my insides. The baked goods were tempting but I was saving room for lunch. Customers can obtain a bathroom code for access. I was in awe of the artwork and wish I would've peeped the second one. The inside of this coffee shop was pretty spacious yet still lacked open seating. I sat at a table that was entirely too close to have a private convo from the next table. Service was friendly.

This place is pretty great! There is almost always a line when I go. This location has seating inside and outside. The selection of baked goods always looks amazing and it's hard to pick something. They even sell some items like bread loaves, cakes, and pot pies. There is a dessert case that I have not tried anything from yet. The savory baked items are phenomenal. I have had some great veggie quiches. The breakfast turnover with eggs and potatoes is my favorite! It's a flaky crust and can almost feed two people. I tried the muffin in the picture and it was good, but a little dry. Luckily, they make a good latte to wash it down. They even make a few specialty drinks. This is a great coffee shop and bakery, but not if you are in a rush.

Welcoming and spacious cafe, offering various drinks, pastries, and bakeries. Cafe au late was well balanced and good. While chai latte was a bit lukewarm, the spice and flavor were great. I really enjoyed bread pudding, which was dense, eggy, and light sweetness. Breakfast sandwich was smaller than what we expected but fresh and good. We also tried berry pastry and quiche, which were both tasty and highly recommended. The service was pretty quick. There are tons of table in and outside. I'd love to try other baked goods next time.

Quiche with amazing side salad

Came here on a recommendation from a local. Wow! Totally worth the hype. The quiche was phenomenal (with a slush side salad) as was the kickstart breakfast sandwich. And the iced espresso with sweetened condensed milk and cream was so decadent! My partner was very satisfied with his black coffee. They really do custom make each cup. Then we had to try a few of the bakery goods too, otherwise what would be the fun in coming and missing dessert? Let me tell you, if you're a lemon poppyseed fan, you do not want to miss theirs!! It was probably the most tender and moist lemon poppyseed cake I've ever tasted. The pain au chocolat was fine. Not of Parisian standards, but my never-been-to-Paris partner thought it was quite good. So you decide. I won't judge. All-in-all this was a fab way to start our day. Great service staff, nice seating options and above all, great eats!

I've been here quite a few times and have really enjoyed the Aribic People's latte with its strong cardamon overtones, the Chocolate Jesus and today, the Mucho Calliente, which promises a chili infusion, and cinnamon infused espresso with dark chocolate! But wait..., oh no, I forgot to ask for oat... this is probably (certainly) dairy. Argh! Sorry, I have no Viking blood and can not digest cow milk. I would rather battle the aforementioned Viking before I'd endure the results of ... dairy! So, I brought my drink up fully prepared to pay for another and everyone there, EVERYONE, in almost unison, refused to take my payment. They kindly and quickly made another and... oh... spicy indeed, but chocolatey and balanced! One of the best spicy mochas I've had anywhere ... and I am an absolute Spella snob and proud of it! His hospitality set the tone for the whole evening--warm, relaxed, and full of conversation between people from all over the world. One of the highlights was watching Joe prepare traditional Egyptian coffee over hot sand, a centuries-old method that slowly heats the coffee and brings out deep, rich flavors. But the real comfort of the night came in the form of Egyptian Sahlab. Imagine a thick, creamy winter drink made from warm milk, gently sweetened and flavored with vanilla and orange blossom water. Those of you who tried it know what I am talking about! It was very nice to get a beautiful taste of Egyptian culture right here on Hawthorne. Huge thanks to Joe for the incredible hospitality and for sharing these traditions with us. I hope they expand to include a full Egyptian, Mediterranean food menu.

I got the seasonal peppermint mocha drink- all the flavors were very light and not too sweet which I appreciated. I only wished that there was stronger coffee taste (my preference), as it tasted like a warm milk drink with a hint of peppermint and dash of bitterness from the coffee. I do wonder how their drinks will taste iced so I do plan on coming back! I arrived with my party of 2 just before a small line formed, and ordered my seasonal drink and a drip coffee. there were 2 baristas at the time, but after we ordered one of them left(?) and only one barista remained to take orders and make drinks. it was busy and as a barista myself I understand so I didn't mind the longer wait and understood that they forgot the drip coffee we ordered due to the small rush. Upon reminding them after the customers behind us were served, the barista was super apologetic and made the drip coffee immediately. However, the coffee was lukewarm and didn't have a strong coffee taste either (according to my friend). Overall a cute little cafe on Hawthorne, but I wouldn't drive out of my way for their coffee. I would be willing to give this place another shot if I was in the area, as their other seasonal drinks look yummy!

The two-tops are fairly snug together so it can feel like you're eavesdropping or being listened to. There's counter seating along one side which had some refreshing morning sun- when a couple seats opened up there, we moved and were very comfy. There are a couple of cozy chairs in the front window and some additional counter and lounge seating in an adjoining room. The drink quality and presentation were high quality and delicious. The cost of a 12oz latte ($7) with no special milk was higher than other cafes I've been to recently around Portland including places that create their own syrups for specialty drinks of the month. That said, I don't begrudge the cost of a masterfully hand-crafted, drinkable cup of art and that is exactly what I received. I think the cost stuck in my head because the welcome did not feel particularly warm at the register. They were having an animated conversation with the barista and I couldn't help but feel like we were inconveniencing them by saying good morning and trying to order. When we picked up our orders, the barista was warm and friendly. Overall, it's a delightful spot in an equally lovely neighborhood.
