The grounds are perfect for reflection, laughter, or meditation. I've stayed in two of the rooms over visits and when I say the rooms are clean, I mean not a speck of anything to be seen. I work in the Maid Service industry so if I can't find dust, spills, etc, well that is as perfect as it gets. Peggy is the very nicest you'll ever find for a host and the whole town of Utopia mimics true hospitality. I don't want to leave and I can't wait to come back!

My husband and I stayed in one room, and our daughter stayed across the hall. Both our rooms were lovely and comfortable, each with its own bathroom. Breakfasts were a-m-a-z-i-n-g. The Sabinal River is a beautiful spring fed Texas river, clear and green, with a rock bottom. Bend o' the River even let us use their golf cart to drive the couple of hundred yards to their river access, which even has steps into the water. Peggy and Ron were fabulous hosts. I highly recommend Bend o' the River.

You approach the resort by dirt roads, but they are well maintained and no problem for our sedan. The Tesla nav system was accurate. We had no problems getting there and back. Kelly and Brian are excellent hosts. Brian can regale you with many anecdotes from Central Texas history, most of which I had not heard before, even though we've lived in the Lone Star State for 38 years. Our room was quiet, cool, and comfortable. The lobby is also quiet and is a great place to sit and read. There are two very sweet dogs that have the run of the place. We had a lot of fun interacting with them. You can walk the grounds and along the dirt roads with nearly zero traffic. I do recommend sturdy hiking boots, as cockleburrs are plentiful. There are also venomous snakes in this area, although we did not see any. Better safe than sorry. We will certainly return. I'm thinking March or April will be perfect to catch the wildflowers and get in before the summer heat. Please the attached photo captions for additional comments.

Unfortunately we were only in the area one day but we truly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very nice as well as the outdoor seating area. There were chairs as well as a firepit on the raised deck and a bench by the front door with a nice new rug to really brighten things up. There was also a barbecue pit to use as well as a small refrigerator and microwave as well as dishes for your use. Since we were only staying one night I chose the smaller of the cabins however it was really plenty of room. You walk into a little sitting area and then the main room you have a nice bed, which was extremely comfortable and table for two. A bar area that has dishes, a coffee pot and all the accessories. The breakfast was so much better than the free breakfast offered at hotels. She provided pasties and fruit to start along with coffee, juice and water. While enjoying those, she then prepared made to order eggs, home fries and bacon. We will definitely be returning and staying longer.

The room seem clean for the most part, and was really spacious, but the fridge was filled with old moldy food. It's a bed-and-breakfast, but there is no breakfast offered. We usually stay in the alley rooms and they are cozy and stylish. I adore the jet bathtub -- it is such a luxurious treat, especially after spending some time outside in the cold by the fire pit. The creek running alongside the property is just beautiful and I always love to sit beside it on a picnic blanket and let all my daily worries and anxieties drift away. Another one of my favorite places in the world is lying in a hammock under the canopy of one of the many 100 year old+ cypress trees that line the creek. The location is stellar. A delicious pizza from nearby Comfort Pizza, a couple of good bottles of vino, and some porch sittin' in the chairs in front of our room and I'm in heaven -- ahh I miss Camp Comfort already! Also, Comfort has excellent coffee and restos, yay! I just love the vibe of the city as a whole. It's artistic and laid back and not crowded with tchotchkes and tourists (looking at you, Fredericksburg). I almost don't want to share the secret of how great this place is. I'm bringing my extended family to Camp Comfort in a couple of weeks to celebrate my birthday, and we've rented out several cabins, alley rooms, and the Camp Comfort house. I cannot wait to play dominos in the main hall and laugh and share stories and take comfort in our being together and weathering a couple of tough years for us (and the world). Cheers to Camp Comfort! Long may you stay a place of kindness, strength, and rest to those who find you.

The Carlton Club Inn is located only a few hundred yards from the Guadalupe River and about 1/4 mile from the 1011 Bistro. The beds were very comfortable, the linens were high quality, and the bedroom curtains were heavy and lined so they kept light out of the bedroom very well. There is plenty of off-street parking.
