My friend told me people living in the area could get their dairy products here on pre-assigned days. I love this community living. Due to covid-19, only 3 people (same party) are allowed inside the store. The washroom is also closed. You could see see the goats and kids and watch them feeding from the trough. Inside the shop, there are some local or BC products which will make good gifts or souvenirs. The sorbet and gelato are also great, especially when the weather is hot. I will suggest to have a cooler/ice box in your car if you intend to buy any cheese or milk. I did not have it and the fat/oil from my cheese truffle oozed out onto the lid of another container. Lucky it did not get any messier. But the cheese and yogurt are all good after I put them in the fridge when I got home. Nice place for a stop if you are in the Harrison Hot Springs area. And get the sorbet! It is so refreshing.

As much as I love a quick jaunt from Seattle, they do sell their products at two of Seattle's largest farmers markets and you can place orders online. The Gouda is next level!!! Run don't walk. I didn't really care for all the flavoured stuff. I'm a bit of a puritan. But the aged and goat gouda were delicious. They also had a very smart snack pack option for 5$ which we bought and devoured. That being said, many of the small WA producers seem to cater to the gourmet crowd, with specialty cheeses at premium prices . Twin Sisters, on the other hand, was such a pleasant surprise, being very unpretentious and down to earth. In other words, they were just making and selling darn good cheese. The blue cheese they're most known for was very creamy with an intense flavor. The others we tasted were very tasty as well. In addition to the four cheeses they make themselves, they also sell a variety of cheeses from other producers, both locally and outside of the area as well as specialty meats and other craft products. The service was super friendly and informative too. A great find and I was happy to learn their products are also available in the Seattle area at the fancier grocery stores.

After moving into Chilliwack a few years ago we didn't notice the place at first, until recently. Most large grocery stores have produce that has been sitting on the shelves for far too long. Nothing is worse than buying old produce that you know will already have a short life span in your fridge. Well, Hofstedes is different. The produce looks so appetizing, has vibrant colors and smells fresh. You feel like you want to cook with it right away or plain eat it right on the spot. Those green onions are beautiful. They almost look like little trees ... thick and deep green. They are super crunchy and have a great taste (great for salsas, salads or stir-fries). Other places have nothing on them. I am also a returning customer for...Granny Smith's apples. Always crisp, juicy and super tasty. The deli section is one of my favorite places as well. If you like a loaded sandwich, this is the place for it. Being from Europe myself, it is quite refreshing to see a number of European goodies that we make at home from time to time.
