Their menu was overwhelming with choices that I did not know what to order, including their weekly specials. I ordered at the counter their Mexicana Eggs Benedict with coffee. The coffee was good with hints of orange pekoe in it. The Mexicana benedict was extraordinarily tasty, from the carnitas meat to the chipotle and pesto sauces on top of the hollandaise. The hashbrowns were magnificent as well; crunchy and coated with seasoning. The interior of the cafe was simple, yet spacious with a slight modern look to it. I even bought some of their baked goods, such as the Maple Bacon doughnut, the Confetti Square, the Blueberry Muffin and the Almond Cookie. And yes, their pastries are fantastic as well, better than at Tim Horton's. I highly recommend the Harvest Store & Cafe for breakfast/lunch outings and their bakery confections.

Smoking Gun Coffee has been on my list for a while, and we just happens to be in Chilliwack meeting up with some friends. You'll find your favourite caffeinated beverage as well as unique seasonal ones like a Canadian feature such as a Nanaimo Bar Latte and Toffee Date Latte. The breakfast food options were also very popular as most of the tables had some form of breakfast eats. We tried the Toffee Date Latte and Gold Rush Honey Frappe. Toffee Date had the right amount of sweet (not too sweet and didn't need any extra). By the end of my drink there were dredges of minced date at the bottom of my cup. The Gold Rush Honey Frappe tasted light and not coffee forward. I did love the crushed honey comb on top of it. I also bought a bag of decaf. Because supporting small Canadian businesses that are doing something great is important. The staff were quick and friendly. Go check them and the rest of the 1881 District if you're there. Super cute place to wander and support!

The shopping area is very interesting with a lot of good restaurants and coffee shop. This coffee shop was highly rated on Google. I went into this coffee shop. I was impressed by the interior design. It was contemporary similar to the one in Greater Vancouver. I didn't expect to something like this in Chilliwack. Everything looks commercialized. Coffee beans were packaged in a very nice bag. Food was slightly cheaper than ones in Vancouver which was great for the customers in Chilliwack. The latte that I order tasted great. The customers filled the space quickly. I am sure they also enjoyed the coffee and vibe here. I would recommend others to come here for a coffee if they are touring around in Chilliwack or District 1881.

But the reviews were good and it had a big menu. Walking in, we were greeted with a table filled with fresh baked bread for sale, and a display case full of cakes. The server welcomed us in - they were quite busy, but there was a large empty table in the middle of the room that we were able to sit at. I think the server's name was Cass - but I can't quite recall. Once she learned that it was our first time there, she gave us the full run down: All the bread is made in house The cakes are all Grammy's recipes, which she taught to her niece All the meat is cooked or smoked in house and - ham, turkey, beef etc The menu is large - almost overwhelming, but in a good way. Almost everything comes in half or full. I can't imagine anyone finishing a full meal here - their slogan is "bigger is better" and they really mean it. None of us were able to finish our meals and were left with the perfect amount for dinner later that evening. I ordered Whole Wheat toast with my breakfast and I'm not kidding when I say that it was the best toast I've ever had. I definitely would have bought a loaf to take home but you have to pre-order that one and it's only available on Thursdays :( Oh well, I guess I'll just have to go back!

I was drooling over everything and how good it all looked. The staff were so sweet and friendly, as I asked if I could possibly be able to use their bathroom and they so kindly let me into their little shop! I ordered their Peanut Butter Cup Bun and Chocolate Peanut Butter Mud Pie Bun ($5.75 each). I love peanut butter so I felt like I really wanted to try both. It was definitely peanut butter overload (my mistake for choosing 2 very similar flavours - oops)! The regular peanut butter bun is their original bun with peanut butter icing, and I quite enjoyed this flavour combination. I've never had peanut butter frosting before and I loved it. The chocolate peanut butter mud pie is a chocolate dough (without cinnamon) but with chocolate and Oreo crumbs. This was definitely VERY decadent and sweet. While their flavours were good and the buns were huge portions, I found them both to be on the drier side and the bread is more dense. I prefer my cinnamon buns to be more soft (and supple hahah) and on the fluffier side. Still love that I got to try out these buns and got to support a small business!

* Mysterious little spot *…read more Ok, so wandering through downtown Chilliwack looking for a non-chain to grab a quick snack we stumbled onto this little cafe, which was the only thing open in the area that didn't have 100 other locations within a 100km radius! They had a small selection of fresh baked goods. The good: - The cinnamon butter roll was delicious. Truly tasted homemade with a nice cinnamon sugar topping a rich buttery pastry which was somewhere between a cake and a scone. - The blueberry scone had a generous amount of fresh blueberries which popped the flavour. Also tasted homemade. Nice. The not so good: - The washroom was filthy (never a good sign) - The butter given with the snacks had a slight freezer burn taste to it The random mystery: - The woman behind the counter asked where we were from in her accented English, and we said Vancouver. She then told us she was from Japan and arrived in Canada several years ago. So we switched into Japanese and she was definitely NOT a native Japanese speaker. Hm.....Odd. - There were a ton of signs and posters which suggest the place at one point had Columbian owners. - We asked about the posters (in both English and Japanese) and she didn't understand the question in either language. Hm......I wonder if Bea was a previous owner from Columbia?!?!?!! In any case, if you can ignore the dirty washroom (and what that might mean about the conditions in the bakery portion), the snacks were nice and tasty for a quick bite.
