Have had our credit card information stolen several times over the past 8 years, but BCU always overnights new cards free of charge and reverses all damages very quickly. Customer service is generally quick to reach and responsive. Live their rainy day savings and they do pay higher than average checking account interest, plus 1.5% cash back on cards. ATM fees are refunded at the end of every month. Docking one star because we lived shared services and being able to walk into several other credit unions, but now everything is done remotely by BCU and it can be more of a hassle.

I went to this location to pay my property tax installment, with cash. They made me write my name, social security number and occupation on a blank sheet of paper. They just pulled one from a printer or a pile. I told them I never had to do this before when paying taxes but more importantly they shouldn't be asking me to write down my social security number at all, especially on a blank piece of paper. They really were just making things up. I complained and told them I was simply paying my taxes. They said this was a new requirement for them, mandated by the county (Lake County), and that this would be the case if I ever went to pay my taxes at the county building, too. That is a lie. You know how I know...cause I had just paid the previous installment in cash, at the County building, and, again, four times since then, with no questions, no problems, no made up rules. This bank is lousy. This is not the Liberty Bank and Trust of old. It's garbage. Auto rates are lousy. Mortgage rates are lousy. Counting change here is a problem. Website was 'upgraded; and ruined. Everything here is a problem. They are self-serving, lazy, incompetent tyrants working for a large corporate 'bank'.
