BCU customer since 2014. Have used their mortgage, checking and credit card services with no issues. Have had our credit card information stolen several times over the past 8 years, but BCU always overnights new cards free of charge and reverses all damages very quickly. Customer service is generally quick to reach and responsive. Live their rainy day savings and they do pay higher than average checking account interest, plus 1.5% cash back on cards. ATM fees are refunded at the end of every month. Docking one star because we lived shared services and being able to walk into several other credit unions, but now everything is done remotely by BCU and it can be more of a hassle. read more

I have been banking with many different financial institutions for the past 45 years, and I can tell you without a moments hesitation that BCU has the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. A few years ago I walked into this branch and literally waited in the branch lobby for 25 minutes to open a CD, but finally gave up after no one came to service me. Fast forward to today - exactly the SAME experience: waited 20 minutes to open up a CD (2 CD's, $250K each), and again walked out. Terrible customer experience. Took me over an hour with two failed chat sessions and a long phone session where I had to send PII twice. It felt like a scam the way they pried PII out of me by insisting I had to send it to them to close my account. They insisted on a cell phone number for verification even though I didn't have a cell phone when I set up the account. My employer's credit union sold to them and I regret not closing my account sooner. Avoid this company. read more

I am writing yet again to express my frustration with the dreadful customer service at Baxter Credit Union. Baxter management has zero regard for wasting customers' time. I have lost countless hours waiting on hold and have often simply hung up after long-drawn-out wait time. And I am not just referring to minutes, I am talking hours. After finally getting through if you need to get transferred then disconnected is always a frustrating experience. When and it continues to happens, you get to sit on hold again and start all over. This is not an isolated incident. Baxter's race for automation has resulted in a complete lack of concern for customer time. It seems that you fail to recognize the direct impact of how consumers' time is wasted while you continue to move farther away from what customers truly want. Furthermore, there's your callback system, which leaves customers uncertain about when--or if--they will ever actually receive a return call. It is another way for Baxter to provide minimal real customer service instead of hiring real people to address real issues. More consumer wasted time. I've waiting on hold for over an hour only to find out that the wire transfer department had already closed for the day. This lack of timely support shows that Baxter management never has to deal with disgruntled customers directly. I guarantee that all members of Baxter would not appreciate being treated in this manner. If you're willing to give up your life just to wait Baxter out, then perhaps you might eventually get assistance. I did manage to speak with a very helpful representative named Alex, but my issues stem from your systems and the complete disregard for wasted customer time. I am in the process of transferring all of my accounts out of Baxter ASAP. read more

Worst servicing experience I've ever had. I've been with the UAS side of BCU since 2019 for my student loans. I've been with them since 2019 on auto pay with no issues, until this March the auto-pay system failed. I had no clue it failed until I was notified I had a delinquency on my credit. Their customer service team was NOT helpful. I was put on hold for 10-20 minutes at a time, multiple times, on multiple calls, and the agents were apathetic at best. I was told I'd get calls back and never did and had to follow up myself only to find out they refused to remove the delinquency, even though they waived the late fee and admitted that other customers have similar complaints about their auto messaging systems for late payments. They claim they reached out to me 12 times. In reality, they only called me 3 times & I only saw maybe 2-3 emails. When they "tried to call me" it was through an automated system and their message was "Please call us at your earliest convenience". Their emails only said "Please give us a call, we have important matters to discuss" and it was so poorly formatted (spacing errors, capitalization errors, different font) I literally thought it was spam. ALSO NOT A SINGLE MESSAGE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A LATE PAYMENT. If it had said one word about a late payment I would have called immediately to pay, which is exactly what I did when I saw the delinquency notice. I have been on time 100% in the past 5 years I've been with them and you'd think they'd be willing to work with me. Especially as I called immediately and paid for the late month and the next month asap to be safe. Instead, I've now filed an official BBB complaint and am disputing by all means necessary. I will be switching lenders AS SOON as possible. This is the most sorry excuse for servicing I have ever seen. They lack follow-up, clear communication, and empathy. They don't even care they have destroyed my otherwise great credit score and refuse to admit any fault. DO NOT USE BCU. read more

Gone massively down hill over last few years. Have been a member for over 10 years. New web interface no good, they charge fees everywhere like other big name bank but with much less physical presence, apy is not competitive, internal account payment system stink, external bill pay system stinks, relies on gimmicks if you want to maximize benefits. If I could give a zero star review I would. This credit union is horrible. I sent them every piece of personal information I had over the last 48hrs in order for them to remove restrictions that they randomly place in my debit account. Only to then receive an email saying the restrictions were lifted, and when I called because the restrictions were in fact not lifted, they told me my account was completely closed and I was not eligible to open up another account. And all of this was due to mistakes that THEY MADE!! And had to nerve to tell me management sent the wrong email saying everything was fine. Run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. There are way better credit unions in existence, who don't blame and penalize their customers for management's mistakes and who have competent management teams and account specialist. read more

I just looked at signing onto their site to get a mortgage, and this site you're supposed to hand all your account info and social sec # has you sign: "Without limiting the foregoing, neither the Company nor any of the company's provider makes any representation or warranty of any kind, express or implied: ....(iv) that the Service, its servers, the content, or e-mails sent from or on behalf of the Company are free of: viruses, scripts, trojan horses, worms, malware, timebombs or other harmful components. " aka WE MAY HAVE SECURITY BREACHES with your MOST IMPORTANT DATA and we are not liable. I've been a member of BCU since 1984. We've enjoyed checking and savings services as well as credit cards. We had our home mortgage with them until we paid it off (yea!) and have had 2-3 home equity loans. My reason for writing this review today is to rejoice that once again BCU has made our lives very easy. Our HELOC was expiring 3/31/2024 and I was dreading having to refinance it and pay points, and/or shop around for another. On 1/9, I received an email with DocuSign links stating that we'd been approved for a 5 year extension on our HELOC and all we needed to do was sign the form. What??? We signed and sent it back. I called BCU this morning 1/12 to inquire of the status, and was told that the loan has been extended until 3/31/2029 and it's all done. Incredible! WE LOVE BCU!! read more

I recently purchased a house and needed a mortgage lender. The company I work for offers credit union services through BCU and the rates were competitive, so I went with them. Everyone involved in the process was very helpful, very professional, and made this mortgage the easiest and most hassle free mortgage I have ever done. They don't have a local branch, so all banking with them is remote for me... but in today's connected world, that really is not an issue. Once you can get a hold of someone it's decent service. For multiple loans over many years I've had to do the legwork and follow up while hearing every excuse of why no one could contact me. The latest incident was attempting their auto loan pre-approval with no credit pull. It created a hard pull. It sent all information to my wife instead of me. I called to discuss it and got to a teller who cold transferred me to another department. I work the same hours as my bank but if I don't do the legwork then I'm the one who is penalized so I'm the one making the calls and sitting on hold... Again. Rinse and repeat. Great rates. Nice people. Terrible service. Absolutely terrible every time I have to interact with an employee here. 16 years of this level of service. I have been a BCU member for over 30 years and was happy until just recently in the last five years they have started on a downward spiral and have gotten progressively worse every year. The business operations have become so bad that they are the worst. There are many examples, but one such example is when you call their customer service you are on hold for an hour before someone answers and quite often the representative has no clue on how to address your request. It takes multiple calls and hours of hold to get a simple request addressed. Case in point below. I have a credit card and a checking account with BCU. I had the card setup for autopay from my checking account. I wanted to cancel the autopay so that I can pay whenever I have a balance in my account. When I called the card services they transferred me to member services. After a long wait the representative came on line and fumbled through my request. Ten days later the autopay is still not cancelled and the card pulls the statement balance from my account. I then call member services again to see if they can fix their mistake, and I get transferred to card services who says they cannot do it and transfer me to member services. Its been 60 minutes now waiting on the call. I have even completed this review while waiting yet no resolution. Save yourself frustration like this - many other good credit unions and banks around who will be happy to provide you superior service. read more

BCU has really bad customer service. So far I have been on the phone waiting over an hour. They keep switching me between representatives. When I speak with someone they say that I have to speak with someone else. I keep having to be reset to the beginning of the que. I repeat the same information to each person and re-explain everything. Whats really frustrating is the problem with my account is on their end. They continue to freeze my accounts in the middle of transactions when I am away from home and expect me to have all details they need memorized. I would not recommend them. read more

Upadate... someone reached out from the bank via email response and essentially accused me of not having a travel notice on the debit card again, which is what caused this whole issue in the first place and then they went as far as to accuse me of having a negative account balance which is not true. When did a daily account balance of between 1K and 3K start being considered negative?!?! I guess with BCU!!! And to boot Verizon has now charged me $100 in fees for having to contact BCU every day I was out of the country but do you think BCU has paid me that $100? Horrible company! I joined BCU over 25 years ago as a Baxter employee. For the first 20 years, they were amazing. So amazing, I remained loyal to them when I resigned as an employee and moved across the country. So amazing, my two children (now grown) opened their first bank accounts with them. I don't know what's happened in the last 5 years (perhaps expanding into business that has nothing to do with banking), but I've experienced nothing but colossal failure after failure and I'm finally leaving after coming to the conclusion that they simply don't care about their members. Try having your credit card hacked at Christmas time and being promised a new card overnight, only to get it two weeks later after 4 phone calls and being CHARGED for the overnight fees anyway. Yah, that happened... TWICE. Try having to INFORM your bank that they're supposed to keep the car Title when you get a car loan from them and they mail the Title to you. Then imagine you PAY to overnight the Title back to them, provide proof of delivery, and they lose the document. THEN... imagine they charge you $30/mo for two months because they claim you didn't send it to them. Then you call to complain about this, THEY LOCATE THE TITLE and promise to reverse the $30 charges, then proceed to charge you $30/mo for another four months and say they don't have the Title. Yep, those are hours of my time I'll never get back. I could cite another 3-4 disappointments of this nature, but I digress. Dozens of phone calls I should never have had to make to bring to THEIR errors to their attention, holding for 30min or longer every time I call, associates promising to follow up on issues, only to completely drop the ball and have ME calling THEM again... and again... begging them to do their jobs. I've spoken to manager after manager, only to receive apologies that lead to more errors that cost me more time and money. I've been doing their work for them long enough. A 3-member family, half a dozen accounts balancing 20k+ at a time, three loans, three credit cards and 25 years of loyalty, gone. Using hacked information, BCU set me up as a Member. Called and had my account flagged 6/5/23 and was told I didn't exist with them anymore. Received a notice that "to avoid collection measures" BCU needed to be paid a $29.00 fee for " a Non-Sufficient Funds" from a $99.99 "payment requester" from Credit Karma through my Powerplus Checking account (I've never had any checks). I've talked to Alexa, Sarab and Jenally from the Account Protection Team about this situation with no resolution and now I'm expecting another threatening letter "in accordance with the BCU Deposit Account Agreement" (which I've never seen). read more

Truly awful. Been with them for a couple years now. I haven't had phone service in a long while due to financial hardships. Whenever I used my debit card it would become locked due to "suspicious activity" which could be anything. So to unlock your card without a phone you need to send an email with a picture of your photo I.D member info and such. EVERY TIME it was locked which translated to every time I used my debit card. But guess what. Closing my account and having what money I had in my account sent to me in the mail required absolutely no verification. So at least that part of the process is easy. I contacted them and after about an hour of going back and forth, not much could be done to lift that restriction. Not the best way to treat a loyal customer of over 2 decades. The worst bank or credit union I've ever dealt with. After over 6 months, BCU has still refused to provide paperwork for vehicle titling. A title that they are asking me for and charging me fees over. A vehicle fraud investigator with the Department of Revenue has made a determination that BCU has not provided the correct paperwork. BCU still refuses what is required of them so now I am forced to work with an attorney to collect fees owed to me and have a judge give BCU a court order to provide the paperwork. Its their loan. Think about how stupid that sounds. A one page piece of paper that they just won't get done. Never in your life should you ever work with these people. I'm spending time opening new accounts with a new group so I can get my business and everything away from BCU. They don't know the law, they dont know the process for their own loans, and they are incompetent. Judging by all the horrible reviews, BCU is run by amateurs. I am grateful that I was finally able to speak with someone who was able to genuinely acknowledge all the misses that occurred, inform what the next steps they will take to ensure this experience is not repeated and also help me get what I needed. Jackie, from the mortgage department was very thorough on the next steps that I should expect, was able to offer me something for the inconvenience and also shared additional information about BCUs Home advantage program that I was unaware of. Overall, I am glad that the response from BCU was timely and immediate action was taken to problem solve. read more
