1 Star - Very Disappointing Experience…read more I originally prepared my taxes myself using TurboTax, but after seeing the amount I owed, I decided to have a professional review of everything to see if there was anything additional that could be done to reduce my tax liability. Unfortunately, after having Vogt Tax and Accounting prepare my taxes, the amount owed to the IRS was the same as what I had calculated myself using TurboTax. I was never provided with an upfront quote or informed of what their services would cost. After everything was completed, I was charged $1,000. Was very shocking. So ended up paying triple for the same results I went in there with. I also requested assistance with dealing with the IRS and establishing a payment arrangement, only to find out they were unable to assist with that either. At the end of the day, I paid $1,000 for the exact same result I had already achieved on my own, with no additional assistance or benefit. My recommendation is to save yourself a significant amount of money and consider preparing your taxes using an online service like TurboTax. Based on my experience, you'll get the same result for a fraction of the cost. Very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend Vogt Tax and Accounting.

So how is Jason different? Put it this way - I am a pretty tough client to have. I think I know my way around the markets, I'm fairly savvy, and know the Ps and Qs about investing. But I don't have the time or the inclination to pore over charts and news...nor would I want to spend my time doing that if I had it. I have a family, business, friends....and the occasional football game to watch. What I do want - is someone that indulges my questions promptly when I ask them, holds the financial fort down when I disappear into my work and family for quarters at a time, competently manages my assets, looks out for me when I am missing something that is important to my portfolio (whether he is managing it or not)...and generally treats me like the responsible, teachable, but busy as hell person I am. It doesn't hurt when over beers your guy challenges you to ask the questions that really matter...not the "what's you number" BS...but rather that "what's important to you, to your family, now and later....what do you want your legacy to be"...and "what are you most excited about, or most afraid of"...doing so without using fear, uncertainty and doubt. This bank is so far behind the times it's sad. Asking your clients months after they opened account is unprofessional. The employees absolutely need to understand what they are asking for and why. This bank and its employees need a much broader range of education. Trying to make the client feel like it's their fault because your bankers don't know how to do their job is insane. This bank should be shut down! They operate like a morgue! This is the worst bank I have ever dealt with! They think a Fido airy is going to supply them with confidential contracts! What this bank asks for is beyond stupid and they are way over stepping their boundaries! You will be sorry if you open a bank account here! I had an appointment to open three checking accounts. I had my computer with me to give this bank whatever they needed from me. They asked for nothing because they absolutely did not understand the checking account I needed. It is unacceptable to come back months later and tap dance around blaming your client when the bank is very unclear about what they need to set up the account. Having two apps to deal with are from ancient times. Your online banking should work as one app. Business in one app and personal in the other is inconvenient. I'm not impressed.
