Less than a month ago I started an account with TruWest. Since then I have had to wait 14 days for a debit card to arrive (for a bank that's based and headquartered in my own state that's sad), I have had my Zelle function blocked simply for making a transfer between a friend and myself and after finally receiving my debit card I've had to wait on hold with customer service because they're brand new card with plenty of money in it kept declining on a 30 dollar charge. After about an hour of waiting on hold I come to find out that they hadn't really activated my car yet. Some excuse about old system and new system. Whatever. I deposit a $7,746 check and I think okay it'll take a few days. They released $300 from the check immediately and put the rest on hold. The next day, they took back the 300 and put that on hold as well. I gave them a call to ask and make sure they had taken it and it wasn't an unauthorized charge. I was told the funds would be released 9 business days after the deposit. I also get a letter confirming that check would be released on 9/5/2025. Okay, I understand it's a new account there might be extra holds. Today is the 5th of September. I still don't have my money. I call and now the release date of my check is on the 11th of September. AN ADDITIONAL 6 DAYS. They don't have a single answer for me. So I decide I've had enough of this useless incompetent bank. They will not return my check and they will not let me close my account until I wait for them to decide they'll release my money. Who knows, I may have to wait another week after that due to some random excuse. Stay far away from this bank. It is not worth the headache. read more

This bank will literally steal your money! They forget that it's members are supplying their funds to do business. So when my money is stolen from me through fraud, and you refuse to help me, or even credit my account, I see it as the equivalent to stealing from me personally. I'm a Registered Nurse, and I'm working directly with Covid-19 patients during this pandemic. I have been worked to the bone, and don't have much money to show for it. What little money I do have, I need to get to work. My account was charged by a fraudulent company in Hong Kong, and when I spotted it, I let TruWest know. But TruWest basically threw up their hands and said, "there's nothing we can do..." What?!! Seriously?!! Nothing?!! I doubt that! They could certainly do something. They just don't want to spend anymore of their money (which is really ours) doing it. They could credit my account, as I had to get them to do kicking and screaming the last time something like this happened. And now I have NO Money and No Debit Card to access the money, because the card they were supposed to have sent two weeks ago still has not arrived. So yes! This bank will literally, and shamelessly steal your money. And if they can steal from a Registered Nurse during a pandemic, don't think for a second they won't do the same to you. With Covid it's been really tough getting things done in person so I generally do everything online but recently I've had to dispute some charges and get a new card issued and that only can be done in person or else I would have to wait and long time for it to come in the mail. Christian made life easy today and grabbed my info from me as I was waiting in the long line of cars. He got me an official real deal replacement card instead of that temporary card bs you usually have at first. Christian was all over it and helped me efficiently and quickly. My thanks to him and the staff at this location. They have all been good over the last 4 years I've been coming here. read more

After 33 years of dealing with MECU - and TruWest CU, I have finally had it with TWCU. Today, they locked up online banking such that it does NOT work - not using Chrome or Firefox browser. It appears I would have to drive over there to pay off my credit card. At this point there are multiple "irreconcilable differences". Spare me the automatic response about emailing you. read more

Employees here are friendly. However, still recommend staying away from this company - after 20+ years of doing business with them, I expected much better.... company refuses to help get money back when it is stolen using a debit card and extremely unhelpful with alternatives to debit card use (ex: ATM) There are too many other choices out there to waste any more time. read more

You will need to call them, do not expect a call from them if your waiting on information. There are a ton better credit unions out there, keep searching! read more

Hey, I just opened an account with this Credit Union. Christina was helpful, professional (and even fun!) I came in for the 2.5% promotional rate on an 11 month CD. We will NEVER use TruWest for a car loan again. No one talks to each other within departments. We were told incorrect information from the start. Employees at this branch were rude and not helpful until you show up in person demanding an answer. Even then they were not friendly. Told different answers from different departments. We used to bank with them years ago and had no issues. Now is a completely different experience. Stay far away! UPDAtE: never heard back from their social media email they gave. Also, we gave a copy of our insurance coverage the day we bought the truck to the branch. We jusT received a final notice (um where was the first one?!)) that states if we don't show proof of insurance they will purchase insurance for us! What the heck?! It was intimidating at first to walk into TruWest to try to refinance my car, I had tried different larger banks and was denied because my car was older than 5 years. Walking into TruWest , I got partnered with a banker named Christina, she was amazing. We had great laughs and she helped me with everything I needed. I got approved for the refinance and visited TruWest the following week. This time I got another banker named Aaron, he was just as amazing as Christina, we spoke about future vacations I was going on and gave advice on places to visit. Needless to say the bankers and TruWest overall is a great company and took care of me the way I'd hoped to be. read more

I switched to TruWest almost a year ago from chase. After first everything is was fine. But now it's a nightmare! It takes so long for them to process anything I never had an issue with overdrafting until I went switched to TruWest. Thinking I had 3 "free" overdraft without penalty that's a lie. Open, closed, open, closed. I've showed up on three different occasions now to take care of business with the branch, only to find their branch or lobby is closed. Three total waste of times. Respect your customers time. No notifications that the branch or lobby was closed. I don't make it a habit to call automated systems to see if the business I am about to visit is adhering to their hours and availability. Covid times you're worried about, ok, wear you masks, you demand that we do. Then open your doors for your customers. I will never open another account or utilize a loan product from this credit union again. read more

Terrible! Worst customer service I've ever experienced. I had an auto loan. The auto was totalled. My insurance sent funds. TruWest said that they never received the second payment, then sent me to collections and posted a negative credit bureau report on me. I was told by a TruWest representative to have the missing payment re-sent. When I did that and my insurance company sent a second check for the 2nd payment... TruWest cashed BOTH the first (missing check) and the corrective payment that was supposedly lost in the mail. The THEY CHARGED ME A $25.00 BOUNCED CHECK FEE! I have called a million times to rectify this!! Due to Covid-19 the final payment of warranty funds has not been received (or cashed) by TruWest. Although 90% of the loan is paid in full they continue to report me negatively to the credit bureaus. I am active military. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I will never deal with a credit union again. Obviously the big banks are better to deal with for auto loans! Totally disgusted! read more

TruWest CU has the best poised and professional staff that we have encountered in 40 years of banking in the East Valley. We set up checking and saving accounts nine months ago. We should have switched to them years ago, hoping their competitors would at least smile, acknowledge you as a customer, and not multi-task or talk with co-workers while they attend to you.
