I have been taking my dog, a very sweet & calm cocker spaniel, to your facility for over 4 years…read morenow. I recently left him there for 5 nights while I was out of town, August 13 - 18, 2025. I picked him up and my dog is exhibiting fear based behaviors that include flinching, cowering and whining. I don't know what happened to him while under your care, I called to talk to someone on your staff, it was a male, hispanic. He didn't offer his title. He said he spoke to the staff but nothing out of the ordinary occurred that anyone could recall. I just now bent down to put on his leash and he flinched when I got near him. It breaks my heart that he's now acting this way. He is 11 years old and has never behaved this way. I just took him to the vet to get him examined and try to find out why he is acting this way. This dog never whines or is vocal. Please supervise your employees closely and make sure they are treating all of our animals with proper care. I don't have any proof that anything happened to my dog aside from his behavior after leaving the facility. I'm just stating my experience with my dog and your facility.

It is too bad you can't give a zero star review. I took in my cocker spaniel and he came back with…read moregashes in his ears and water in his ear that led to an inner ear infection. I, of course, reached out to let them know and they offered a 50% off coupon for the next grooming instead of a refund (lol). They also lied, said he had the infection and gashes before and I was notified of this (I wasn't). That's on top of the fact they made my other cocker spaniel look like she had an 80s mullet instead of giving her a proper cocker cut "crown". I would avoid putting your dog in pain by taking them here.

I researched a lot of different board and train places in Houston before deciding on Love for Dogs…read more My dog is a rescue who had only been with me and my family for a couple of months. I wanted a place that was affordable, used similar training methods that we had already been using, and would not cause any emotional trauma to a dog who we had no idea what kind of background he came from (he was found having lived on the streets for quite some time). I signed up for the assessment and took him to their facility. We met with the trainer who listened to my concerns and expectations, and then explained how they intended on working with him. They assessed my dog and he passed the temperament test. I submitted my dog's shot records and filled out the necessary paperwork before scheduling his board and train. We signed him up for the 15-day board and train plus a field trip. When the time came, we dropped him off with food, bed, treats, and favorite toy. During his two week stay, we received two videos each day via WhatsApp. The first was a daily video from part of his training. The second daily video was from his outside potty break stating how he was doing with food, potty, and overall well being. Towards the end of the two weeks, they reached out after assessing him again and said they would like to keep him a couple of more days. They wanted to continue working on his leash training with distractions. It was at no extra cost for me. At the time of the training, he was a 50 pound, 11.5 month old Standard Poodle. Very stubborn, easily distracted, and hyperactive. Taking him for walks was a nightmare! When we went to pick him up, we could not believe how much he improved! They explained that we would need to continue to work with him in order to prevent him from slipping back into bad habits. We also scheduled a follow up for two weeks out. The follow up sessions are included in the cost, and it lasts a lifetime (guarantee). The first two weeks home, we were working with him a couple times a day... about 5-10 minutes each time. We went back and showed off how good he was doing. The second two weeks before the next session, we slacked off. He was doing so well and so we didn't set aside time each day to specifically work on his training. When we went back, we explained that he wasn't listening as well. They worked with him, and of course he did well for them. They explained that we needed to continue to work with him daily and not give in to his stubbornness (don't give up if he refuses). We worked with him as we should, spending 5-10 minutes here and there practicing his training and he got back on track. The next session, we added in some tricks to start working on, and he really enjoyed it. We are now 3 months out from his board and train and we get so many compliments on his behavior from people who met him prior. We go on walks daily and he is able to be around other dogs without acting like a maniac. He listens, he obeys, has good manners, and he learns new tricks quickly. We are just so pleased with the outcome. We are now planning on signing him up there for scent training. I know this is a long review, but I feel that it is necessary considering some of the reviews I read prior to choosing Love for Dogs. It is important to be honest when you do the assessment and tell them what you are concerned about and expect. Your expectations may or may not be reasonable. Every dog is different. They will help you understand what is possible, what is needed, and set you and your dog up for success. Next, it is important to continue working on the training at home. Even if the dog seems perfectly trained, it can slip back into bad habits if YOU allow it. It doesn't take much... just a few minutes here and there each day. Lastly, go to the additional training sessions. In these additional sessions with you and your dog, they can work on any areas of concern or things your dog is struggling with at home. Wondering how they treat dogs staying with them? My dog gets so excited when he sees his trainers. We always allow him a few minutes before his session starts so he can say hello and get lots of hugs. That speaks loudly as to how he was treated there during his stay. I highly recommend Love for Dogs. Affordable. Successful Training. Lifetime Guarantee. Plus, they really do LOVE dogs!!
