Requested bids and designs to remove all the grass in the backyard, install sitting walls around trees with flag stone steps and zero scape setting. The rabbits and voles wreaked havoc in our backyard. We've had to replace our lawn twice. Jeff with Rock Solid Landscaping responded. We agreed to meet and walk the yard. We wanted 3 mounds with larger rocks around with native plants. The crew started everyday at 7am and worked until 4pm. They were always on time and worked a full day. This job was completed in 2 weeks. They delivered a porta potty, bobcat in front of our home. They put cones for safety. They are very organized, when dirt, rocks were delivered they moved to backyard. Then they swept the street and/or driveway to keep clean. Our neighbors complemented on the nice job of keeping street clean. Juan Carlos and his 2 workers were very well organized. They always cleaned up at the end of the day. I asked for a few Day Lillie's be transplanted back into the area. They installed a new drip system with an extension for me to plant my small veggie garden. I was generally underwhelmed and started to think about delaying the project until we met Alfredo. Not only did he listen to my ideas and talk about how to accomplish them, but he came up with additional ideas that were even better suited to our ultimate goal of a family-friendly yard. And then he patiently explained material options so we could make a project that fit within our budget. When it was time to start construction, Tito led an amazing team. My first interaction with the paver Company had a rocky start. I won't go into the details however…read morethe person that they sent out first, no longer works at the company. Rob, one of the three executives from the paver Company reached out to me and personally took care of me. Rob Turned this into an excellent experience. Moving forward: I was contacted by a representatives to set up an appointment. His name was Ken Jackson. He arrived promptly at the appointment time and asked me quite a few questions about what I was looking to have done. I told him I wanted to divide the project into three parts. Pavers for my front patio somewhere around 1000 ft.² for the first part. Then replace the cement pad going into the garage and extend the parking area with pavers. Finally if within budget, decompose granite Drive way for my drive-through area. If the price was out of my range, I would prioritize each section. I also let him know that I have five kids and probably since it's in the front of the house, the pavers might be driven on, so best to have the whole project done to take the weight of a vehicle. Finally added on some bullnose steps and lighting for the porch. Ken set about doing all of the measurements. He brought out quite a few sample stones to fit what we needed. We went with a cobblestone mix with sandstone. And a dark gray trim. Ken returned after three days with a quote that was a little bit out of my price range. This is to be expected. When getting bids, we do not know what the market bears. We don't know the profit margin, we basically want pavers and are kinda at the mercy of the sales people. The best thing I can recommend here is get your budget and if you can get everything you want within your budget, don't worry about if you can save a few dollars here or there. I have gone through the Bid process with so many different companies. Window replacement, gutters, new furnace, new water heater, new roof, new water softener, new deck, new kitchen cabinets, new sink, full exterior house paint, and garage door replacement. If you are doing renovation, get plenty of bids. If a salesman is pushy or tells you you have a limited time to get the special... don't be pressured. Just walk away. Inform their superiors if you feel they are out of line. Do research and compare apples to apples. All of this being said, if you want some pavers, I would recommend you giving these guys a shot because they really did a good job presenting high-quality paver experience. Though they are definitely not the least expensive. I would trust them to do the work if I can find a way to pay for it lol

Some wanted us to give them a plan; others wanted a fee ($500-$1500) to come up with a plan; and still others wouldn't let us see their plan until we had agreed to hire them. Ken Jackson from The Paver Company met with us several times to get our thoughts to come up with a plan at no charge and no commitment. Once we agreed to proceed, Juan Gomez, the onsite project manager for The Paver Company and his crew worked hard and quickly and did a great job. They also left the job site clean. Not sure that I have ever seen a more efficient, hard-working crew.

From the time we wrote Premium a check to completion was more than 4 months, we were promised 6-8 weeks. The sod that was laid has struggled to grow and every seam can be seen. I have been asking for dead plants to be replaced (we were told that there is a 1-year warranty on all plants) since the beginning of May and it is nearing the end of June, still no replacements. Now I am being told that his company used wasn't his drawing so he won't replace all of the plants. He told us at our first meeting that he didn't like the drawing we gave him and he would re-do the plans and include that in our estimate, we never saw another drawing or rendering. He told us it might take longer than other companies but that we would not find more quality workmanship. This has certainly not been our experience. The drainage in our backyard has been a huge issue since the work was completed and yet no attempt to resolve the issue has been made even though I have asked several times. I have yet to receive a call from Frank even though the 2 people I have talked to know how unhappy we are. We have also discovered that there is a leak in our irrigation and are hoping this company will stand behind their work at some point and make things right....so we don't have more dead plants. I'm struggling to find something positive so on that note, I will generously give the company three stars because our concrete and pavers look great and so far there are no signs of cracking.

But Frank Torres gets a negative 10…read morefor misleading his customers, non existent organization, non existent communication, non existent accounting and non existent customer service. Below is an accounting of our experience sent as a response to Frank Torres after he instructed his crew to remove roughly 18 yds of creek bed that the crew wonderfully had installed a day earlier just because I challenged his up charge, on the final invoice without providing a change order. We (the customer) were misled that design and layout work would be provided by you(Premium).  You and your website seem to be set up to knowingly mislead your customers.  We were misled to believe that we (the customer) would be able to work with a designer to design our property's landscaping.  Rather, after 7 weeks of you receiving a $15,300 deposit (50% of contract price) and many excuses you finally delivered what we were led to believe by you, a preliminary drawing which would be used to start designing our landscaping.  We were again misled, you refused to change the drawing with our input by claiming it was final for HOA.  You delivered your "final" design without any input from us (the customer) nor our approval.  Additionally, you did not provide samples of material or sample pictures of the planting so that we could understand what it was you had proposed/designed.  We(the customer) researched all the plants and materials that were on your "final" design discovering indeed these were not what we wanted.  Because of your inept design process and misleading explanations from you, your planting up charge cost us (the customer) over $4,300.   After telling you that your design is not what we had in mind, you told us that the drawing was only for the HOA and to disregard it, you assured us that you(Premium) would install what we actually wanted once you (Premium) mobilized. You did not communicate that each change from your design (that we had no involvement with) would cost us (the customer) nor did you provide any cost breakdown or ongoing accounting, even after I (the customer) requested it multiple times.  When your(Premium) superintendent showed up weeks later we thought he was the designer and that he would be the one to finally work with us to design our (the customer) landscaping.  To our surprise he was not a designer, he showed up to oversee a delivery for the backyard that we had weeks before pointed out to you that was not shown correctly on your "final" design/drawing. The delivery was incomplete to what we had described as being incorrect on your "final" drawing. This premature delivery, your mistake, cost us over $4,500 in two "change orders".  Your absence of communication, coordination and design process continued to cost us (the customer) up charges "change orders" that would have doubled the original contract price unless we deleted many features that we wanted.  A clear design and detailed drawings were provided to you (Premium) by us (the customer).  We (the customer) provided a clearly marked site layout of all plants and materials so that your (Premium) team could accurately measure for cost take off and the ease of installation.  Even after the time you (Premium) received the drawings and had access to site layout you provided no such "change order" indicating an additional charge for the south "creek bed" in a text or email, as you informed me is your "change order" method.  Rather than provide us, as we (the customer) had requested, cost, scope, and scheduling update documentation aka a proper "change order" you simply added an additional cost of $3,800 on the final invoice.  I (the customer) disputed your last minute up charge, yesterday afternoon 9/22/26, by claiming it had not been properly approved through your "change order" method via a text or email.  Rather than provide us (the customer) with any sort of documentation or receipts you chose to punish your customer by immediately removing the work that I (the customer) questioned.  This morning 8am 9/23/26, less than 16 hours later, instead of any sort of offer to amicably resolve, your(Premium) crew is here to remove the south "creek bed" material, leaving our (the customer) design that we submitted to you (Premium) and the HOA as an unfinished project.   Well done. Now I understand why you don't provide your customers with proper documentation and accounting.

We hired Pantera Landscape for a major landscaping and hardscaping project at our Reno home, paying…read more$75,098.89 in total. Their initial verbal bid came in $20,000 lower than the final price, which they raised after their design team produced the renderings. (Felt like a bait and switch.) The project was estimated at three weeks and ran closer to 4 months, off and on. The workmanship problems are significant: - The front steps had to be rebuilt three times and still are not code-compliant. The third rebuild happened after a month of using the steps, when the tops started falling off -- a serious safety issue. Even after the third build, the steps are uneven in height (up to an inch difference in places). We have hired another company to fix them. - Retaining wall caps are uneven and sawed off; multiple caps were not secured. - Uneven retaining walls throughout. - Mid-project, they mismeasured the distance of the top retaining wall from the house by several feet, leaving a significant slope despite plans calling for level terraces. They did not take responsibility until we showed them the plans and pushed the issue. They did finally come through with a fix, which was to build a fourth retaining wall. - Sprinkler system was botched and part of our lawn is dying. Danny and Jesus said they could not prioritize a fix for several weeks because they didn't want to make other customers upset. - Decorative rock installed too thin; weed barrier is visibly exposed throughout. - Glue residue left on the front door and on wall blocks. - Exterior lighting has multiple lights that don't work. When we raised the defects, the response was to blame "unforeseen conditions" and "site conditions" -- that is, the slope of our yard (which was the entire reason we hired them to build terraces) and a gas line at 12 inches (which is standard code depth and discoverable through the legally required 811 utility locate). Neither qualifies as unforeseen. If site conditions were a concern, they never should have taken the job. Our last text (requesting they cover the cost of the new contractor we hired to fix the issues) went unanswered. We have filed a complaint with the Nevada State Contractors Board. In our experience: limited skills, and no accountability when problems surfaced. If you're considering Pantera, get every specification in writing, document everything with photos, and pay in much smaller increments. I don't recommend hiring them for complex jobs.
