I am leaving for Hawaii in 3 days and with such a short amount of notice, Jennifer was able to accommodate my request. She came to work on her day off to do my hair. I mean that's the ultimate, beyond, incredible customer service. I had a Brazilian blowout and she did an amazing job. She was thorough on every single strand. She made sure the job was done right. I am pretty picky with my hair and I never trust anyone. But I was quite impress with her skills. All in all, I will come to Jen for my Brazilian blowout from now on. Came here with a coupon from groupon for highlights. Actually I wanted highlights and a Brazilian blowout and when I called for the appointment she (the owner) said she'd do both for what was offered on groupon. Not only that, but she also said she could get it done in time for me to return to work. I was very leery! To my amazement it was done properly and in the time allotted!! The only problem was I also needed a haircut, but I can't fault her for that. My highlights are perfect and I hope this blowout lasts cause I love it!! I forgot the owners name but she is well worth asking for. Very talented but hectic as she was also the receptionist and the phone never stopped ringing. I will definitely go to see her again though as I've found it's very difficult to find somebody that talented. Can't wait to see how she cuts hair!! Well, I didn't finish posting my first review, so I can add to it after returning. Again, the coloring was great after she finished. I had a horrible previous haircut which I asked her to try to fix. Bottom line, I left there feeling fantastic. It's not a fancy smansy salon, but the owner knows her stuff. I am definitely going to be a regular, even though it's quite a distance from where I live and work. PS While there I noticed there was also a woman who does permanent make-up. I've been searching for somebody to touch up my eyeliner and she is much less expensive than what I've been finding. So, with trepidation, I agreed to let her fix me up. Sara has been cutting and styling my hair for years. I'm always happy when I leave and she does an amazing job. My only gripe is that it takes a really long time to get my hair colored due to the double booking while my hair processes. Sometimes it takes 2-3 hours just to color! I am always happy with the outcome but make sure you have time cause it takes a while from start to finish. read more

I wish I could provide a zero star rating. The owner Sara does not conduct business with integrity. Her hair products displayed for sale is not priced, therefore, expect to pay different prices each time. If you have all the time in the world, this is your salon. Expect to wait for 3-4 hours for a haircut as Sara over-schedules clients. There can be up to 4 clients she's servicing simultaneous. Wash hair... wait. Dry hair... wait. Cut hair... wait. The last last straw was my expensive blayage didn't turn out as she described, so she reluctantly recolored. This was the 1st time I was displeased. She was pissed and took it out on my hair. When rinsing my hair, she was so rough, she pulled out hair from my head. Then afterward, she had me blow dry my own hair! Overall, please do not patronize Sara. I've only been going here for about six months, but I have yet to get anything but perfect! Sarah is a great stylist and really knows what she is doing. I used to go to other generic chain places, and felt like I was gambling on whether or not i was going to get a good haircut. It feels really good to know that I will get a great haircut every time! It is a bit more expensive that the other cheaper chains, but you definitely get what you pay for and it is worth every penny. Cathy is so nice! She took her time threading and eventually switched over to tweezing my brows. Not a single stay hair. She is very pleasant to talk to. The only thing is that she pinched me a lot and didn't seem to know how to thread. I'm glad she switched over to tweezing to make up for it. A few days later, I had thin scabs where she pinched me, and it hurt to put soap over it. No fun. Felt like paper cut wounds because it took forever to heal. read more

Sara cut my hair a few days ago. Although my cut is nice, I feel she didn't listen to me when I was there. I told her shorter and she did what she wanted. I got lucky and it's cute. This review really isn't about my experience, though. This review is for my mom. She explained to her that she was growing her hair out and that she needed the longest layer cut to get off the dead ends but that she wanted to keep it longer and keep in layers. What she got was so much shorter than she wanted. She didn't trim the hair around her face and there are still a lot of split ends. Looking at the back of her hair, it looks like a child tried to cut a straight line (and failed). Who in their right mind would cut hair like this?! My mom is so devastated and would never let that woman touch her to have her hair fixed... If she even has capability to... It's so horrible... She even has chunks of hair near her ears that are two inches longer than the rest of her hair. It's just so bad! Sara, you should be ashamed of the crap work you did. read more

Found a deal online for 50% off a Brazilian wax here. Read the reviews here and bought the deal. Not a wax newbie, so I wasn't worried. Walked into the salon area, which looked very professional and nice, and went to back room that was warm and had instrumental elevator music playing. Nothing offensive, just not my thing. Kathy (who is friendly but a little kooky) first used a heated roll-on wax and paper strips. She repeatedly pressed down the used strips to pick up remaining wax. Painful, but no big deal. Everything at first went smoothly (no pun intended). Then, she switched to hard wax, and I noticed right away that she was double-dipping the wax wand into the pot. Gross. All downhill from there. Kathy didn't understand how to hold skin taut and pull wax off properly, and she yanked the wax multiple times. Very painful. She repeatedly said how nervous she was about performing the job. I wanted to be sympathetic but it made me nervous... if she doesn't trust her own ability to be careful, how can I feel calm? Whenever something was painful, she would try to distract me by saying, "Yeah, baby, oh yeah, ok, yeah baby," which made me feel pretty damn awkward. One plus: she used tweezers to clean up stray hairs. More painful than necessary and lack of hygienic practices. I couldn't imagine paying full price for a wax at this salon. read more

As a follow-up to my previous five star review: I walked into this salon nearly a year ago and received excellent service and was truly happy with my hair and overall experience with my stylist, Sarah. I felt that she truly listened to me and understood what I was looking for, and did exactly that. My color was great, my cut was amazing and I never received so many compliments on my hair than I did after she did it for me. Unfortunately each of the four times I have visited since were increasingly disappointing, to the point that I walked out before she had a chance to do my hair during my visit last month. One thing that really irked me was that she never kept track of the colors used so each visit I would have to go through the process of trying to figure out what color to pick and it seemed that she did what she thought was best anyway regardless of what i asked for. My second visit had me wondering if I should come back, but I though it was me, not her. The cut was not bad but was less than desierable-certinaly not comparable to the great cut I received during my first visit. The highlights were chunkier than expected and not the same color I asked for and did not match the color I came in with. I make it very clear that I want my highlights to be thin. In fact when reminding her of this she made a comment that I don't like highlights and and said that she knows I really want a solid color from the description provided to her-umm no, I don't want to look like a bumble bee or skunk. I like my hair to be well blended and dimensional. I am a professional working in a professional environment and want highlights to enhance my hair and brighten my face-not to draw attention to myself. Okay, I got over that and decided to give her another try-this time telling her I wanted to go lighter with my highlights while maintaining warm undertones and also to cut actual bangs I have been lusting after for nearly a year. Well, I don't know how this is possible, but my hair actually came out darker and nothing like the colors selected in the color chart. I noticed that she first applied the highlights and then a "toner" which was actually just a hair color applied all over and I had to wait 30 minutes for it to process. I think she lightened my hair too much and tried to correct it, but my hair came out darker. She was understanding and tried to fix it so I have to give her credit for that, but I still left the salon with darker hair than I came in with and could hardly see the highlights. Also, she cut my bangs crooked and I had to ask for her to correct it twice. The last time I saw her (last month) I left work early and rushed to the salon to arrive on time, only to sit and wait 20 minutes while she finished talking to a client who was in her chair but done. I even interrupted her to confirm that I had an appointment that day, thinking maybe she didn't realize I was there for her, though she greeted me when I came in. Eventually when she got to me and we discussed color and touching up my highlights. I said honey/caramel and she showed me copper/red tones and argued with me that it was caramel. Then she told me that it was winter and I should not add highlights to my hair but should go darker-ok I think not. I needed my hair to be back to where it was before she messed it up and made it too dark on the last visit and I'm talking dark. We matched it to my hair and it was no match. I wanted three colors woven together as normal, she said I only needed two but would do a third. I was not feeling it and felt that either I or something was bothering her. She came from the back with only two colors mixed and said I didn't need a third to add dimension. When asking her what the highlight color is then and what color is being left out it came out that she was planning to just touch up my roots. I DID NOT want a solid color root of nearly two inches, I wanted highlights to match my highlights-not a solid stripe across the top of my head. Then she told me that I didn't need my dark roots touched up and I was coloring my hair prematurely. DEAR GOD. She was so hot and cold, accommodating and unaccommodating, rude and forced nice all at the same time and I just felt that if I let her do my hair I would once again regret it. She wants to do what she thinks I need, not what I'm asking for or what I want. It needed to end right then and there. I've never ever done this before but I told her-"you know I'm not really sure about these colors and don't feel comfortable with them" I think I need to think about it and figure out what color I really want before we color it again. I think she knew right then she lost a client and I was so worried about how she would react or treat me right then and there, in front of the other ladies in the salon and was prepared to be embarrassed and enraged, but she handled it with grace. She said ok, sure you can go a few more weeks, when you're ready call me - and I've never been back. read more

I always go here to get all my waxing and facial needs done. The aesthetician, Kathy Thuy, is very sweet and friendly. She does an excellent job to get my eyebrows looking great every time! The prices are reasonable and for the service you're getting, WHAT A DEAL! Normally, I wouldn't listen to the type of music she plays but when I'm there, the music just seemed soothing and relaxing. It's my very first facial, I'm 22 years old and a friend actually recommend this place for me and I loved it especially meeting Kathy Thuy the skincare lady at this salon. She was very friendly and welcoming, made me feeling comfortable laying down. She examined my skin and told me it was very great. Just letting you guys know I used to have very bad skin in middle school and as I got older I try to take care of my sensitive skin as much as I can. I'm glad to hear it wasn't problematic. The facial also included a massage arms, neck, & back. The music is your typical spa place. Maybe sure to wear loose clothing cause she would like you in this wrap around towel. Where do I start?....Well I guess my review is based on my experience really with the one person who I have had and continued to come back to for 10 years. Sara Tahiry. She worked at this place that use to be in the same shopping center as Save Mart in Milpitas that was eventually bought out by the asian restaurant next to it and they ended up basically moving across the street to where Blockbuster video used to be....Currently My brain has melted and I cant remember the name.... OMG 20 Mins later...HAIRSHAPERS!! Well when Hairshapers moved it was its downfall, it was in a shopping center that is a ghost town not to mention Hairshapers was tucked away in the back in a super crappy location. Anyways when I was 19-20 I was on my way out for a night on the town and needed a fresh haircut, I had been going to see a few different people there for a couple of years and They weren't around that Night it was about 30 mins before closing. I walked in and asked If I could possibly get a haircut and That I knew it was late...Everyone was kinda sitting on the couches and chatting, then they start looking the other way and talking BS about whatever to avoid me and I felt like an asshole. Well, Sara came out of the chair at her station and said she would help me. She cut my hair perfect first try which actually became my hairstyle for years, she was very polite and soft spoken as she is still today kinda shy and reserved. Even when people are doing the typical nonsense conversations in a salon she doesn't chime in much with anything negative to say. So when She does say something its usually funny to me because its so left field. But anyways she finished my haircut I gave her a great tip which was more then double the cost of my haircut because that's how much I appreciated her giving me the time and same focus anyone else.I continued to do so every time for years... Over the years I have never really been good about making appointments and keeping them. So, always kinda give her a call and see if she can fit me in somewhere, 9 out of 10 times she would do so no problem...I eventually left Milpitas and moved up to Alameda and it was getting more and more difficult to find the time to get down there to Hairshapers and when I was there I was having to constantly wait forever sometimes up to an hour and I finally gave up. I could tell things were not going good for Sara there..I tried going to a few other places.The places that were more local to me just were not makin it happen, I brought in pictures of how I liked my hair (pictures Of my hair cut perfect) and I either got people who didn't listen or just were not good enough. So I eventually gave up one step further and said Screw if I cant get my hair cut by Sarah on a regular timely basis I will just Shave my Head. I did so off and on for a few years, Id let it grow out and have Sara fix like 2 times a year....When I would see her She kept telling me about wanting to open her own Salon, or getting into a different place ect. She was always concerned about the expense of doing so and mostly what would the cost be of potentially losing her clientele that she worked so hard for years to build up. I Always told her I would tell as many people as I could about her places and would follow her the best I could.... I ended up losing contact with Sara when I moved out to San Ramon and found one person who could do a Sarah Haircut pretty well but then she quit one day and that was that, went to another places and it was such a cluster F*&K again I gave up. I went through my old cell phone Contacts list and Found Sarahs Cell number gave her a Call and THANK GOD she was still doing great hair and she finally made it happen and opened her own place. CREATIVE CONCEPTS. I was so excited!! I made an appointment went down there she gave me a hug we made some small chat and she just said would you like the same as before or something different. I went for the same, she didn't ask me one question about size of clipper guards or how much on top, what gel I wanted nothing, she once again wowed me on how well she could do it every single time no matter how long I go in between how many screwed up haircuts I got from other people in the past. Sara Tahiry is simply the best in my book. She eventually started coloring and cut my wife's hair as my wife went from short to long beautiful hair. I hired Sarah to style my wife's hair for our wedding which was on a sunday...at the time it was Sara's only day off. She offered to open her salon for my wife and her brides maids that day. The timimg was too difficult for my wife and the party so Sara Packed up her things and came to the Hotel and personally styled her hair and a few others I believe. I loved it absolutely beautiful!! I'm going to end my long winded story on this note. Sara is in my opinion the best stylist I have ever had and in which I judge other stylist by. Please give her business some love. read more

I was very unhappy w/ this salon. I tried it out once and will never return! I went here based on the reviews, but was disappointed. The girl who did my nails talked constantly and that really annoyed me as I was trying to relax. When she did my pedicure she cut one of my toes and then when she did my manicure she did not finish off my nails properly and they were so sharp and cheap looking I was embarrassed to go to work w/ nails looking like that. I will never come back here! I give it 2 stars for the hospitality of the owner, because otherwise I would have given it 1 star. read more

Initially my stylist seemed very bothered by a blotchy color spot and asked if I wanted to fix it before she proceeded with my highlights, and I said no it's okay. My highlights turned out fine but when I went to pay, she said she was going to charge me extra because she fixed my blotchy spot. Ughhh... so I paid it anyway bc I bought a haircut/highlights package on Groupon and just wanted to leave. I don't understand why salons can't be more upfront about these things. I've been going to Jenn for almost 3 years now. She's amazing! I don't trust anyone else with my eyebrows or my hair. I was always iffy about getting my brows threaded but she does them really well and she's gentle so it's not that painful. I had Jenn do my hair for prom two years ago and it was absolutely gorgeous. She also regularly cuts my hair exactly how I want it(not two inches shorter than what I asked for like most other people). You can tell she really takes pride in what she does. I've been going to her for the past few months and I never leave disappointed! I would also like to add that Jen is a MIRACLE WORKER! One evening I needed a last minute haircut for a formal event I had to attend, and didn't have time to make an appointment with Jen. I just decided to go to the salon across the street from my house, hours before my event. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. My hair ended up looking horrible, uneven all around and was a total disaster! I was so pissed, especially since I needed to be somewhere important in a matter of hours! This was an emergency and needed to be fixed so I drive over to Creative Concepts Salon and to my luck Jen happened to be there! She was working on her last client for the day. I explained my urgent situation to her and without even a bit of hesitation, she agreed to stay after hours just to help me out! I don't know how she did it, but after a few minutes but she completely transformed and styled my hair and made it look like it was never even messed up! For Mother's Day, my husband treated me to a spa day. Little did he know he'd booked it at the salon I always go to! I'd never had anything other than a cut there (with Sara), so I thought I would update my review. I had a facial, which was absolutely wonderful. My only complaint is that the music she played was not the relaxing type you'd expect while having a facial - it was more like elevator music. It wasn't bad enough to take away from the experience though, and my skin looked spectacular when she was done. My hair and nails were done by Jennifer, and she did a wonderful job. read more

This is my first Yelp review.I have to admit ..this place was awesome.I had bought a Trubates coupon for $150 for a BB.So I called them for an appointment in two days and was gladly given one.I assumed it was Sara who would be doing my hair (BTW I called for a Brazilian Blowout.).On Saturday,I reached about 20 mins late as I was trying to locate the place and I had informed them that I am on my way.They were very courteous and actually the whole experience was fun. But it was Jennifer who actually did my hair.At first I did not know how to react, coz I had not read many reviews.But she was AWESOME.Very helpful asked questions to know about the daily work routine...and gave me an excellent haircut which is easy to maintain . The only reason I give it three stars is..On the phone they had told me that if my hair would be extra long they would charge me 25$ more for the BB.But since I assumed that I wanted to cut my waist length hair to shoulder length I wouldnt be having a problem with that.Once on the chair,Jennifer asked me how much I wanted to cut .And immediately chopped off my hair to the length I wanted.Which was shoulder length.She then continued with the treatment and cut my hair.While doing this,she was giving tips to me about how I should style my hair and take care of it. While paying for it,I was told to pay 25$ extra as consultation fees .But I do not exactly understand why I had to pay it since they did not even have to apply extra creme nor did I go for a consultation session with them before the treatment.On protesting,I was shown the fine print which said they can charge customers for consultation. This review is for Kathy. I go to her for microdermabrasion, facials, and eye brow waxing. She is fantastic!!!! Kathy always goes above and beyond on whatever service I am doing that day. She is very clean. I especially love when I'm having my eye brows done and I tell her that I have a headache she will give me a 5-10 minute massage. KATHY IS GREAT!!!!!!! This review is for Sara. She is my hair stylist. She does a fantastic job as well.....I have had my hair cut and hi/low lights with her for several years now. She also goes above and beyond with her talent. Her recommendations are never out of this world. I always leave there feeling wonderful. My daughters also go to there!!! And the pricing is very reasonable. I am quite pleased with how my hair turned out! Sara did a fabulous job with my highlights, hair cut and deep conditioning! Very professional and knew exactly what she was doing!
