I called and asked for an estimate to install my stereo and one 10" sub enclosed in a box. I had all of the equipment and the wiring kit already, just needed it hooked up. They told me prices --started-- at $500 and would go up from there, depending on what kind of sub I had. ... I paid under $500 for my entire system including the wire and dash kit. They said it would take at least 4-6 hours at $125/hr. $5-600 to hook up one sub!?? That's zero equipment or accessories included!!?!! Like, what!?? My neighbor found out I needed help and installed all of it in 2 hours- taking smoke and chat breaks in between- it sounds great, he did great, I paid him $100 for his time & help, everybody's happy. I've been to Car-Fi before for a new radio and speakers. I wore the Alpine radio out they installed after about 7 years and was due for a new one. I had already worn out the OEM radio before that. In addition, I had some problems with an intermittent short that cut the sound out when I turned left, or accelerated. So, they got me into a new radio with all the bells and whistles, and it played fine, but after a day or so, the sound started cutting out again. I made another appointment and they said they would try to analyze it, but warned that it could be expensive. I get it. So, I took the car in. I had also purchased a set of speakers from them about 6 months before. I explained all the issues to the people at the desk and they took my keys and gave them to the tech. After an hour or so, they were able to reproduce the problem, but couldn't find the issue causing it. Then the sales people brought in the tech where I was waiting, and I explained to the tech what was happening. The tech didn't know that Car-Fi had also installed the speakers in the door, even though I told the sales people that. So, they were not communicating effectively with their staff. So they told me there wasn't enough time to work more on it at that time, and gave me an appointment for later that day. I came in then, and they worked on it, found the cause of the issues, and because it was their equipment they installed that seemed to be the problem, I didn't pay anything for the repair. They replaced all the wiring in the driver's side door. That fixed it. Some people would say this was a bad experience, but I say that difficult problems like intermittent ones, don't solve easily and when the techs had the right information, they proceeded with the repair. The people do not listen to the customer. I called 3 times for a estimate on window tint. I verified the price 3 times. I had my daughter take the truck and and when she got there they told her a price that was much higher. I called them and they said that was the price. As my daughter stood there the employee was telling the Manger that he did not realize what the truck was i was talking about and the manager said told me the price went up on arrival after seeing the truck. If you are in business for over 35 years you should know or at least use the computer in front of you to look t up. Needless to say they have no balls and charged me a higher price even though they messed it up. Do not do business with them. My husband went there to get 2 replacement controls for a system they put in our vehicle about 3 years ago. It wasn't a cheap system that they installed. The guy he talked to was very rude stating they hadn't carried those types of controls for years and offered no help to replacing the controls. Well the receipt shows different. So unless the system they installed was one being discontinued there was really no reason for him to act the way they did. read more

I had CARFI instal a Kenwood stereo to enable Apple Car Play in March 2020. I've had to take my vehicle back 5 different occasions, losing a day each time, hoping they could resolve the product deficiency. Failure each time. The company has a "No Refund" policy, putting the burden of time and money upon the consumer. Avoid at all costs. I've spent 5 days of my life over a 9 month span of my life attempting to get CARFI to honor their contract to no avail. $1400 later and I can't get the system they installed to provide basic services and their solution is to have me waste yet another day as they guess towards the solution. read more

Horrible experience. I recently purchased a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab pickup at a local auction. I don't know a lot about this truck except for some of the metrics, and it was not something I had researched. Once I got it inspected and registered and back home, it seemed the batteries kept dying. I took it to my mechanic, who found that the radio was drawing on the battery 24/7. I told him he could just unhook the radio, I didn't really need it, as it was a farm truck. Once he disconnected the radio, he found that the AC would not work without the radio connected. What?! He told me to go pick up a radio, then go to Car-Fi in Springfield (an hour from my home) to pick up an installation kit and wiring harness. I picked up a $30 radio at Walmart, then took it with me to Car-Fi, where I showed it to a guy behind the counter, and gave him the make/model/etc for the truck. He produced an installation kit and harness, as well as a second cable that he said would be needed. I delivered everything to my mechanic, who told me a couple days later that the radio would not fit the installation kit I had been sold. What?! I had taken the radio into the store, the guy looked at it, then sold me an installation kit that was not compatible?! (Note - Car-Fi does not give refunds.) I was able to return the radio to Walmart, but the cheapest radio that would fit the installation kit was twice as much. My mechanic installed everything, and it still was not working properly... he told me he had called Car-Fi and had been told I had purchased the incorrect wiring harness, that I needed one with a converter (?)... my understanding now is that the radio acts as sort of a power distribution module. I returned to Car-Fi (did I mention it's an hour from my home) and told the guy behind the counter - Mark - that I had been in a couple weeks prior and had been sold an incorrect wiring harness. Now, I don't speak the language of automotive electronics, so I asked Mark if I could just call my mechanic and get them on the phone together. "I don't need to talk to your mechanic." WTF?! I'm trying to simplify the process, and this guy is making me have to spar with him. "What's the make/model of the truck?" I give him the info, then he starts asking questions about the truck I'm not sure of. "Will you just speak with my mechanic?" I ask. He completely ignores my request. "What's your phone number?" I gave him my number and he looked up the purchase from a couple weeks prior. "It looks like you have the right harness." "Will you just speak with my mechanic?" I ask again. He completely ignores my request. He talks to another guy behind the counter. Finally he agrees to talk to my mechanic. I get my mechanic on the phone, who explains the issue, and Mark figures out that there is a different harness that is needed. He hangs up on my mechanic without so much as a "thank you" or "goodbye". I get it... Mark's knowledge in this area was certainly more than my own... but he was being a complete ass about it. I guess Car-Fi does installations, but if you aren't using their installation services, they don't give a crap about the customer. Would be nice to think they would take these review to heart, and work on a more customer-centric philosophy, for all customers. read more

I recently hired them to install a turner for satellite radio. I was quoted price of part and $65 for hr of labor. I paid in advance and schedule a time for install. When I arrived at the install I dropped off my car. I then received a call about 30 minutes later where I was told that I was misquoted and it was actually 2 hours of labor required; and since it was a two hour job they needed to reschedule me another week because they didn't have enough time.... So I came back and pickup my car. I was frustrated, but I felt it was an honest mistake. So on the next time I dropped my car off to have the two hour install I left Car fi at 4pm and received a call that it was ready at 5:15pm. So about an hour. When I arrived I was greeted by the same employee that did the orginal quote and the requote. I asked him it must have gone faster than he thought. However, he said because of "adjustable labor" I would be charged the $130 (2hrs) even though the install only took 1 hour.. he even told me Tony was the installer so it's not as though they doubled up labor to cut down on time. It's just such a terrible feeling getting ripped off by a business that first quotes you a price, you agree and pay, then wastes my time for a whole day and then charges me double for a job that only took an hour... Apparently a quote and the basic principles of doing business the right way mean nothing to Car Fi in Springfield. I normally hate to write negative reviews but this was just such a terrible experience that hope this makes others think twice before doing business with them. read more

I got suckered into Car-fi's before Christmas sale on the dual control auto starter. It was on sale for under 50$. Then when I went to check out they told me with installation it would be 180. They said it needed to be scanned to work. I had a friend that was/is still trying to install it. I contacted the company and bought the part that was needed to put the year/make/and model into the system. Another 83$ and change. And it STILL does not work. This is why Car fi runs their sales with the ridiculously low prices because they make sure they are the only ones that can install it and they can charge whatever they want since they got you in the door with their cheap sale prices. I will NEVER do business with them again and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. You get what you pay for. There are too many honorable dealers for your auto needs. The worst experience ever. We took our car in that already had a tv in the back. I specifically told the guys that I wanted everything hooked up so my children can watch tv/movies while we travel. They insured me that it wouldn't be a problem. Once I got there and paid, I went to the car and there is NO tv..... not even there. THEY THREW IT AWAY. No communication. Just gone. Then the guy that installed it said "I don't make phone calls" when I asked why they didn't call and do any sort of communications. No one should take their car into these people. We bought a demo eclipse in dash system. About 6 mo a, no brake installation, fault would appear at random. We took it back and they said it was a fault they had never seen. When completed they said it was a simple hook up. About 6 mo later when I started the truck, the system tilted into place but never came on again. I took it in and the manager said it was a week out warranty but they would fix it anyway. After about 8 weeks my husband went to see about it. The same manager then said that it could be fixed for $300. Perplexed, my husband asked why and the manager said the factory would not fix it. Terrible experience, bought new speakers because the sound was sounding distorted on the ones presently in the car and the rear speakers weren't playing anything at all. So they talked me into buying 4 new speakers and installation. I told them the tears siding work and they may need to check it out before putting them in. Well they took out my front speakers and didn't tell me the car already had relatively new Type S Alpines in already and they charged me a hundred bucks of labor and didn't even get my rear speakers working at all. I called in about auto window tint and they were having a special for 150.00 for fx tint.They made me appointment for the next week. Showed up for tint and the display they showed was for cheaper tint.I said I was quoted for better tint,the guy acted like not too happy and another guy there said its ok,we can do it.Not sure if they put better tint or cheaper tint.I checked out quickly but noticed when I got home they charged me additional 10 dollars for "shop" charge.I guess the quote they gave me was doing it in the parking lot.Not very friendly .I did notice the last time I used their service they had lots of customers .Only saw 1 today. read more

My husband and I both have pretty old vehicles and both had the original car stereos still installed. Needless to say mine stopped working properly and his didn't even have a CD player it was so low tech. A friend of ours had a new car stereo put in her car and told us Car-Fi was really great. We stopped in on a Saturday to price things out and ended up buying new systems for both our vehicles. The staff was very friendly and helpful and they knew EVERYTHING about the products they were selling. They were very patient with our questions. We had mine installed right then and my husband went back a few days later with his vehicle and had his installed. The staff even takes the time to show you all the features of your new system once it is installed and answers your questions. I was very impressed with the one on one attention we received. It was obvious the employees were happy at their jobs and actually liked working with the customers and products. Our new systems are working flawlessly and we couldn't be happier. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in our last business with Car-fi. We have had installs in the past that have been really great. But it has changed from that experience 180 degrees in the last two years. We had a radio install and re-tint of windows. The re-tint so far is very good but the radio has been a nightmare. We went to pick up our vehicle and they were ready to give instructions but the radio did not come on so they had to pull it back in the garage and fix it. We came home and realized they steering wheel controls did not work and the battery was struggling to start the truck. We called back on Tuesday when we noticed that it did not work and they told us at that time that was an" extra $140 he should have told you that" but we were never told. Also we asked something could be draining the battery because we had to jump the truck this morning. They then told us... Yea we had to jump it on Saturday when it was here too.... They never told us that either. Good thing we did not get stranded with a bad battery. No more business from us.... read more

Had remote start/keyless entry unit installed in my pickup. The unit works fine, but the key fob eats batteries. The unit has a one year warranty, but Car-Fi will only give me a new battery and say that's all they can do. I would not recommend Car-Fi to anyone as they do not stand behind the warranty of their products. read more

Know-It-Alls who surprisingly know very little. Cocky, Rude, Lazy and do not return calls. I asked them about getting led lights behind my wheels. Specifically a guy by the name of Ben "helped" me. It took 15 minutes for me to get him to understand i wanted lights behind my wheels and not the "under glow". He took down my number, said he would look into it and call me back. He never called. When I called he said what I wanted couldn't be done for less than $1000 and that it was a waste of time. A cursory google search will tell you that there are countless methods to accomplish what I wanted done. If you want to be treated like an idiot by a jerk who has a big head with a tiny brain go to Car-Fi. Otherwise go anywhere but here. read more

Was told it would be $250 to have my Pioneer unit, Hertz door speakers, Subwoofer and Amp moved from my Dodge Caliber to my Dodge Avenger. Was prepared to jump on the offer money ready, and was told the next day when scheduling "That doesn't include installing it into your car," David told me it would be an additional $349 in labor on top of that and that's not all. Thankfully we talked to Barry and we at least got my system uninstalled for $140 so we can get it installed elsewhere at a later time. While my fiance was talking to Barry, I was looking at the head units. Two employees that had been up at the front were trash talking my fiance standing RIGHT next to me. Needless to say I walked out with more insult added on my already aggravating day, and let the fiance finish paying for uninstallation. You would think a place that you dumped about $1900 into in a single year would treat you with some decent courtesy. I had originally intended on coming back with more money and getting all sorts of cool things I had been talking to my fiance about, but ya know.. I don't think this business deserves my money as long as David is treating people like total crap. read more
