This place is closing down and my son's birthday party was booked here for August 3rd 2019. I called today to confirm the time for the party so I can mail out invites, and the woman broke the news to me. They didn't even have the decency to call me and let me know, AND to top it off, they are refusing to refund me my deposit!!! read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place out and it was such a dissapoinment. The brushes were very poorly pre washed. Many brushes had visable paint on them from someone's pervious use. The ticked me off : the place stated ladies night was from 6-9 on Thursday. We arrived at 6:10 and started painting (we were the only ones there). I understand that it might be frustrating to be waiting for 2 people to finish painting so you can go home, but this is your job! Aside from asking us "how much longer do you think we will need" or begining to close up while we were mid painting but this women had the nerve to ring us up while we were sitting down still painting!!! How rude! Not only am I paying $30 to paint a crappy little mug, we are the only ones there so CLEARLY you need the businesses. What terrible customer service. I purchased groupons for my cousins as a Christmas gift. I called to find out their hours of operation and was told that only one person per sitting could use a groupon and appointments were needed (because the owner did not get a good kickback from groupon). Since I planned to take the kids together I had no choice but to try to get my money back for all of the 5 groupons I purchased and came into the shop today with my little cousins. As we were all sitting here painting our VERY overpriced small pieces of ceramic 3 ladies walked in announcing they all have groupons. The girl behind the counter said ok please pick your piece and have a seat. Nothing was asked about an appointment and nothing was said about one groupon per sitting! I openly asked the girl behind the counter why I was told I could not come in with multiple people for one sitting, she shrugged at me and said I don't know. I will NEVER return to this establishment and really wish I could walk out of here right now and not even finish painting these items. Learn how to conduct business and enforce your rules for all or none of your customers. The owner got on the phone with me and told me that she will be taking money out of her employee's check for making an error and allowing the other 2 customers to use groupons together! Wake up lady, your shop is a mess and so is your way of running the business! Disgusting. read more

My daughters love their Saturday morning art class and come home with the cutest paintings! Love that they supply all the materials!

I am actually sitting here right now watching my daughter paint and counting the seconds until I can leave. It is pin drop silent in the store. There are no other customers but it would improve the environment significantly to play some music or something. I feel like I am a tomb. Also, the prices are outrageous. My daughter is painting a heart-shaped plate that is not as large as a dinner plate and it is $30. That is also without paint and other fees. Such a rip off. read more

Attended a birthday hosted here for an art & crafts activity for the kids. Friendly service. Intimate quaint-sized shop. Tables to work on for 4 per table. Paintbrushes with water cups. Smocks provided. Select a sculpture to paint. Each sculpture of choice can range in price from $8- 100+ and the cost already included paint selections. Nice varieties. 1-person bathroom in the back witg a chalkboard for kids- my kids worked on that as they would wait in line. TV & music not present-fine by me. Point of the place is to enjoy & paint. Do recommend. Recommend reserving in advanceto ensure the number of seating areas needed because groups can be present if you drop by. read more

Great spot for the kids to paint and have some creative fun! Lived in Brooklyn for years so we were so happy to find a great pottery place in Staten Island. Nice music fills the air at an appropriate volume while kids paint and moms can either join in or relax. read more

I have been going here for 8 years mostly every Thursday night with my mom & a friend. I love coming here as it is very relaxing & the woman who works Thursday night works her butt off & will oblige the customers with anything they need. We also bring our own brushes so go to Michael's and get some as they are not expensive to buy & you know they are in good condition. Problem solved. The prices include item,paint,glaze & firing so not all items are expensive if you consider what's included. Us 3 ladies will continue to go on Thursday's and listen to music and have the worker leave at 9 P.M. not the time you want her to go home. I recently purchased a groupon for a 2 for 1 painting class at Created by you. Two friends also purchased 1 each. Upon calling to reserve our class, we were told they would not allow us to redeem our groupon because too many people purchased the deal & they can only allow 1 person using groupon to redeem per class. Class size is 20. So only 2 "groupon" people per class of 20 is permitted. I explained we made the purchase with the intention to attend a class together and that if this was the case, we would have never purchased the deal. She then proceeded to lie & say it was stated in the fine print. It was not & I verified it was not with a groupon rep. The woman I spoke with at Created by you was very negative about her dealings with groupon and would not accommodate us. She also accused us of taking advantage of the "deal". Mind you, we paid for this & she is not allowing us to redeem it. She already received her money & will not honor our purchase. Who is the real person taking advantage here? Thank goodness Groupon refunded my money and apologized for the dishonest dealings this establishment practices. Since I did not have the opportunity to visit this establishment, I'm being kind by giving 2 stars however with the way I was treated, they really deserve 1 star. read more

I recently purchased a Groupon for Created By You and was excited to share the experience with my boyfriend. Since I had been to many other pottery painting companies, I had certain expectations of what my experience would be like. Sadly, they were not even close to being met at this establishment. Upon arrival, I was immediately disappointed. The inside was cluttered, messy looking and run down. There was nothing that evoked imagination or creativity, from the dim colored walls to half-idea decorations that were falling off those same walls. The next thing I noticed was the lack of selection. I was told by the young girl working that the skimpy shelves were because a lot of parties had occured that week. We walked around looking at what items they had left and finally settled on a pair of coffee mugs, which were 25$ each with a 4$ painting fee each person. I was taken back by the prices of the items because, again, I had other places to compare it to who were cheaper for better. Nonetheless, we had our Groupon so we stayed and made the best of our date night. As far as the painting, you are allowed to choose 5 colors per item so don't plan on making anything too intricate. We were given about a quarters worth of each color and had to ask for more every time we ran out. I do understand the need to conserve but it came across stingy and was annoying to repeatedly ask for more. The brushes were also all a amess, and it was a project in itself to find good ones to use. On the positive side, we went on a Saturday night and no one was there. It was very quiet and the young girl in the store didnt rush us in any way.Unfortunately, the positives end here. The environment definitely could have benefited from some music because it would have made the space more fun and lively. When I had to use the bathroom, I regretted it. Bring your own paper towels and soap because they weren't provided when we went. The bathroom was dirty, had random supplies scattered all over it, and the door wouldnt lock. I walked out looking for a sink to wash my hands and found nothing but the sink used to clean all the supplies. It was packed with plates and brushes and there was hardly room to wash my hands. As I said earlier, there was no soap or towels so i stood there with dripping hands in a paint filled sink looking for anything. I eventually went to the front and asked the girl for one. Also, Be aware that if you are paying with a credit card, there is a 15$ min. It was my fault for not realizing this which resulted in me walking in the cold to find an ATM. Once I got back, I gave the girl my money and she had to search her own wallet for change. I asked if her manager leaves her with a 'bank' to give change and she looked at me like, 'not really'. I dont understand how they expect their employees to thrive if they dont give them the proper tools. Its not beneficial for them, the customer, or ultimately the business. You get what you put in and although we enjoyed the actual act of painting, I do not recommend this specific place at this time. Much renovation and redesign of both the environment and management are needed in my opinion. I say the management because, although I have never met or interacted with them, its obvious through their interior space, work atmosphere, and operational order, that there is no pride. It's unfortunate too because I have read a few good reviews amoungst the bad, so perhaps it wasnt always this unappealing. I am not sure what has happened to have such a decline, but based off my first impression, I will not be back. I wish them luck in the future and although this review is harsh, through criticism can come change. Hopefully they take it to heart without justification and flourish. read more

Ok so me and my friends were looking for a fun night out with the girls..something different so, we decided to try something new. Well, we came here and yes the place is a cute little local spot but customer service? Lets talk,customer service...myself and my friends were painting ceramics and there was a ladies night paint class going on...all fine and good but the owner didnt even come talk to us or help us out. We were rushdd...once 830 hit they started cleaning up and getting ready to shut down...i asked the lady to take a pic and she was like yea i guess so. The girl at the front was a young girl but so eager to leave that she was rushing us with our payments and all the paint and our ceramics were left sitting out....no manners..no talking to your customers and having an attitude? No i highly doubt i will ever come back.. Fun night out? Go to pinots palette. I dont like to be rushed when im trying to have a good time. read more
