I love ice cream and have pretty much tried nearly every ice cream place in the east valley. The ice cream here is really yummy, but I will never come back and I will never recommend it. First, the price is just a bit too outrageous, even for a crazy ice cream lover like myself. We've been to many higher priced, specialty ice cream places, but none has cost us over $30, until Creamistry. We didn't even get anything crazy - it was the bare minimum! Just a few kids sizes and two mediums with one topping each. If anyone had wanted a waffle bowl, brownie, an extra topping, special milk, etc, we could've easily spent close to $50. Second, we only had two people in front of us, but it took forever to get our order (and I've been to nitrogen ice cream shops plenty of times, so I understand the process). We luckily got there right before a big crowd, I don't even want to know how long our stuff would've taken had we been behind that line. The place is cramped and chaotic, which doesn't work well with the crowds of downtown Gilbert. We didn't even have space for the gigantic high chair at our table, because there was barely breathing room in the place. Most customers seemed confused and frustrated. One conversation I overheard, the people were talking about how the "fun experience" is totally lost in the "annoyance," and I heard a couple saying they'd never come back. Agree 100%! There are so many AMAZING ice cream places in the area (including another nitrogen place right down the street), I'm disappointed that I wasted our family night time and money here... I'd much rather walk across the street to Petersen's, or drive a couple minutes further to hit McMahon's or one of the rolled ice cream places. I got my first two and since it was busy decided to wait patiently for item number three to be called. I waited a total of 25 minutes before finally approaching someone asking about the third item. It had been forgotten and there was absolutely no apology or remorse from the employee. I think patiently waiting for 25 minutes for an ice cream is absurd. I can't have dairy and I was skeptical coming in because places that even HAVE dairy free options, usually don't have tasty dairy free options. But at Creamistry this was not the case. They have a coconut base and a sorbet option. I usually don't listen to other reviews and am more of a try-it-for-yourself type of person, but I have to say that overall, it was alright. It was pretty packed for a Wednesday night and they did a great job considering the brand new opening! The reason for the 3 stars is because of the ice cream. I'm not into the nitro ice cream biz because it usually comes out overdone. But my coconut based Thai tea ice cream actually turned out creamy! - a little TOO creamy. It felt as if my mouth was lined with oil or that I was basically eating butter. Don't know if it's the coconut milk or what, but I'll try another base in the future. But on that note, it barely had flavor. My friend's ice cream was a regular milk based cake batter ice cream and turned out very well, but the cereal he topped it with basically made the ice cream and you couldn't taste the cake batter at all. Julie at the Creamistry is amazing! She did an excellent job of helping me decide on which flavors I might like. Her spontaneous nature and enthusiasm really brightened my day. She is super knowledgeable about all of the menu items and obviously really loves her job. I can't wait to go back! I especially appreciated that she worked to make sure that my milkshake was at the thickness that I preferred. I didn't have to say a word, she ask about my preference right away and then was careful to get it right. She even showed me partway through so that we could adjust it. I have never before had such excellent service at any ice cream establishment. I will definitely be returning to the Creamistry often. We met Darryl right when walked in and ordered our ice cream, which was phenomenal- we had butter cookie with brownie. After letting him know how amazing we thought it was he made sure to give us the entire low down on the process of how it's made. Went to the location in Gilbert this morning to get my son a small ice cream cake for his tenth birthday that he picked out when we came into the store a couple of weeks ago. Opened door and went to grab the cake to be told they didn't open till noon, it was 11:40. Why was the door unlocked if you aren't open? I asked the girl working how much the small cake was... she pulled up the price it was $17. I said I would be back later to pickup. Just went in there and was told it's $42. To be clear there was no price on cake and I specifically asked how much. This is a tiny maybe 4inch across cake and I know this is a premium ice cream place but $42??!! And that's not what I was quoted this morning. So disappointing with the service and mistake that will not want my family to spend money any longer at this location. Absolutely disappointed in the customer service we received. The online Google listing for the store said they closed at 11, and my group of 4 came in at 9:50 unknowing that they closed at 10. The girls at the counter made a HUGE deal about how they closed soon, and told us how ridiculous it is when customers come in when their about to close. I work in retail and have worked the bar scene and restaurant and I get it, you wanna go home. But if a customer walks in before the closing time comes, treat them as a customer and lock the doors at 10 if you need to. Instead, they complained about customers coming in last minute before we even made our order. My husband and I decided to try this out after seeing it numerous times on our way to other places. Though the ice cream is good- not great - it is ridiculously expensive!! It cost us $17 for 2 regular (not huge- just medium) dishes! Every topping is $1- Which in comparison to other places, is quite high...Most places give you one free topping to start and when your ice cream starts at $6 before toppings, it adds up quickly...It's especially high when the marshmallow cream topping is literally just a drizzle across the top- total rip off- I wish I had thought to take a picture because I couldn't believe I paid the same amount for that as I did the heath bar and my ice cream was packed with heath bits...The gal taking our order was nice enough and helped us through the order. This place is small too- not a lot of seating and super loud when you get a couple of little kids in there. I think the high ceiling with air ducts just bounces the sound around. I'm not sure this place will make it with so many other choices to go to- Though it's in a great location with lots of walk by traffic.
