As we got off the freeway, she looked up and there was a coffee shop right down the street. He stopped in here for a quick bite. The two barista is helping us were incredibly helpful and patient since we had to read everything on the menu. I also loved how their store was set up and they sold local arts and crafts from the community! I love the community aspect here in Santa Cruz County! Perhaps she misread the menu, but she thought "egg stacker" was a sandwich because it was under the "bagel sandwich "category. But under the description, it does not say there's any bread. Lol, which is better for us since we're trying to be gluten-free for the day. I had an ice green tea and a salmon egg which was delicious and filling perfectly made egg with the right amount of capers and seasoning for each bite to have enough flavor on it. The green tea was perfect since it was 92°! I can't wait till we get to the beach! I was sad. They didn't have any nitro coffee, but I will definitely come back to try more pastries since it seems like they were out but then again we got there about 30 minutes before they closed. Lol.

They also have whipped cream which I enjoy when I wanna have a little cheap day and they had such cute art and tables to sit at to enjoy your drinks or pastries. I love a place that makes seasonal drinks and that are friendly and happy to serve you. They have a lot of options for things to buy whether it's dessert or a breakfast pastry. The location is super random. It's like on the side of like a bus stop area, but the coffee is so good and I can't wait till I'm in the area again to order more and actually sit and enjoy it when I don't have to rush to a meeting. Everyone was super nice and friendly and had a great morning vibes.

They now change $0.25 for to-go cups, which I guess is a Santa Cruz ordinance. Can you imagine them doing that elsewhere? Oooooh my city would make a killing off that! Husband got his usual cold brew ($6.25 inc cup fee). No complaints except they don't fill it to the brim even if you don't want room for milk/cream. I got a tiramisu latte ($8.25 inc cup fee). I could see why they call it a tiramisu latte because of the mascarpone foam and the lady finger. It was decent, but I think I would have enjoyed a standard vanilla latte more. I also personally didn't like how the cold foam dripped down the side of the cup because it got all over my hands! As a former barista, I always made sure my drinks were clean before handing them out.

11th Hour Coffee - Apple tart this morning and I am not disappointed. Great apples, not too much cinnamon w/ crunchy crust.

I have heard about the Penny Ice Creamery via word of mouth. We were here last Sunday night. We…read moreoriginally planned on going to the downtown location in Santa Cruz, but we ended up at the Scotts Valley location because we were staying at the Hilton there. We ended up heading over about a half hour before they closed (I think 9pm is the closing time?) They were already cleaned up (the chairs were stacked, etc), but they insisted they were open and were totally nice about it. For the people who are complaining of the price, I respectfully disagree. This place is not your average ice cream joint. From what I understand, the ice cream is made from scratch using ingredients from local farmers. The flavors are not your basic b*tch flavors, and I can totally appreciate that. My daughter got a single scoop of Fresh Mint Chip. I had a spoonful and it truly tasted like fresh mint, not that artificially flavored green mint chip stuff. I saw the sundae special for the weekend and I just couldn't pass it up. Here's what it was: mochi cakes topped with whipped cream, Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, blood oranges, toasted almonds, and green tea (matcha) sauce. I couldn't have come up with that combination myself. It was delightful! Overall, we enjoyed it!
