I love Zizzos! It's a hidden gem in the Brown Ranch Shopping Plaza. They have THE BEST customer service and every single barista is happy and cheerful. I always get excited with the change in seasons because of their seasonal drink menu is unmatched - the drinks are fun and creative but most importantly TASTE DELICIOUS. They manage to make their mochas and seasonal drinks very coffee forward and not too sweet while keeping a nice whimsical charm about them. The interior feels so homey and inviting. There is a nice hustle and bustle during the morning time but still chill enough to read or get work done. I love coming to Zizzos! Suggestions from a loyal, Zizzos fan: - The paper cups get very soggy after like 30 minutes. I had an iced drink and it felt like the paper cup was about to gave in! The girls that helped us were very sweet. Their bagels were AMAZING, and the cream cheese was the best cream cheese I've ever had! They definitely make sure you get enough and they put it on like you're going to eat the halves separate not like you're going to eat it like a sandwich!! Found this gem on my way to the DMV in Capitola! It was such a find! The owners were working at the counter making the coffee and it was a really cute environment! I wish I had time to stay and read a book or get some work done but I already had plans. Haha. The coffee menu was awesome it was hard to choose, there were some seasonal flavors available which I liked too! Variety is always nice! They were super friendly and chatty which is definitely what I needed before heading to the dmv office -that's not sarcasm! If I'm ever going back to the DMV I will definitely be stopping here! My partner and I visited this coffee shop several times while visiting Santa Cruz. Everything was so delicious that we had to keep coming back! We tried their hot and iced specialty drinks, loose leaf teas, pastries, and breakfast wraps. My personal favorite items are the iced honey lavender latte with oat milk and the almond and poppyseed bear claw. I was also impressed when one of the other drinks I ordered was topped with fresh orange zest. The vibes are great, the shop itself is very colorful and cute with both indoor and outdoor seating. There are cards and board games inside. This location has potential and I hope the unorganized nature we experienced today was due to COVID and not their "regular" service. If this was their status quo then I'd likely rate 1 or 2 stars. Giving them the benefit of the doubt on an off day. The coffee is good but nothing amazing. The person helping us did not know ANYTHING about coffee or their other offerings. Perhaps a new staff person... I asked about their beer / wine offerings and neither staff person knew anything about what beers they had on tap or their wines. I asked about their house wine (which they had a large sign for) and I was told, "all wines are house wines"... which seems odd to me. I asked which wines were local and was told that all of them were (even though I saw Sonoma, Lodi, and other districts on the labels). So I picked up a couple of the bottles to see if there was anything from the immediate Santa Cruz region. They had a few options from Alfaro Vineyards so I selected a zin. One staff person stated that they did not know how to open or pour wine. The other staff person struggled to open the bottle. I won't dock them on the wine itself but don't have any large expectations from that particular bottle. The coffee: Sweet Chai Latte w/Oat Milk. Definitely sweet. Not anything really "stand outtish" about it. Maybe I'll come here another time but I'd rather go to the many other excellent choices in the area (Verve, Cat and Cloud, Santa Cruz Roastery) for a good cup of coffee. read more

Had a early DELICIOUS early breakfast (-so we came back again for a same-day brunch!) at Zizzo's Coffeehouse & Wine Bar in Capitola today for the first time! Started out with their Vegan Breakfast Burrito (all plant-based of course, it's stuffed with hash browns, Just Egg, Cheese and Chorizo with a side of salsa--we requested panini pressed--so good!!!) along with Chai w/Oat Milk (rivals White Raven's chai in Felton --normally my favorite--shame they don't carry anything Vegan worth eating). Went back later for Zizzo's Vegan Breakfast Sandwich (an English Muffin stacked with sausage, hash browns, Just Egg and Cheese)--Super-impressive! DAAAAAANG... !!! And this place is *swanky* too--Beautiful AND Delicious! The owners Tara and Joshua are incredibly friendly and joyful--She even gave us a complimentary treat they haven't started carrying officially because their Sweet Bean pastries sold out in a flash--Seriously Loved everything so much, it's definitely worth the trip from Santa Cruz (or anywhere)! Surprisingly good coffee house with a little bit of a split wine personality. It's located in a strip mall behind the capitola mall and as such there is always parking close by. The inside is logically if not physically separated into coffee and wine bar sections. The coffee part is mostly up front and has comfortable plushy chairs and tables to sit at. There is a counter over which the wine is served with associated high bar stools and a small lounge with a piano at the very back. The wine bar part is very intimate. If there is music or karaoke that you do not want to be a part of your best bet is the outside seating consisting of couple of cast iron table chair combos. The coffee is from santa cruz coffee co and the baristas got some mad skills thus turning what could some mediocre source material into some magnificent latte's, cappuccino's cortado's etc. There is nothing wrong with the plain brewed coffee either. If you are on the struggle bus in the morning their jumpstart-a cup of coffee with a couple of shots of espresso-will get you up and at 'em in no time. This is a popular choice for locals to get fresh ground and bagged santa cruz coffee by the pound. Regrettably I am no expert on wine, and in this matter I cannot give accurate suggestions. They have a strong local/California wine selection with some add in's from Spain and Italy and in general this is a nice place to settle in with a nice chewy cabernet. While there are a couple of beer taps this place is more about the wine and coffee. While they do serve food the menu is limited and meant as an accompaniment for coffee/wine as opposed to being a regular meal. Pricing is fairly typical of the area. A coffee and a sweet will run in the 5-8 dollar range depending on choices made and a glass of wine will be in the 8-10 dollar range on the low side. While in some ways the attempt to be both a coffee house and a wine/piano lounge creates some dichotomy, this is still a decent place to grab a cuppa/glass and the sing along nights are epic. read more

My husband, toddler, and I have gone to Zizzo's every weekend for years now, during our shopping trips. Our toddler can be loud occasionally, but the staff just seems to love his liveliness, they just laugh and keep doing what they're doing. In particular, we love seeing Sarah there every week. She's always cheerful, knows our son's name and says hi to him every time we're there, and is a big part of why we've gone there for so long. read more
