My wife & I almost walked past the place when I happened to glance at some of their belt buckles. After spending several hours looking at cheap commercial "authentic Indian Jewelry", I was shopped out. You are probably familiar with that feeling you get when you see something and you just instantly know it is "the real stuff".
While their pieces on display were deceptively simple, the quality of what was obviously NOT mass produced "stuff" instantly grabbed my attention. We went in, and I was prepared for a very pricey "experience" knowing that real, signed, hand made Native American jewelry usually dwells in the upper stratosphere of pricing. I was pleasantly surprised to find their prices were quite reasonable, considering.
Don't misunderstand! What they sell isn't in the $24.95 range you find at WalMart; Hand made, signed, quality Native American jewelry is NOT cheap, regardless of where you buy it, Nevertheless I could tell I wasn't dealing with ridiculously over inflated profit margins either. I purchased a Zuni belt buckle for $175 that I was really expecting to be at least $250-$350 when I first looked at it. My wife's jewelry came to about $750 for 2 sets of earrings, a necklace, and a ring. Considering her tastes, and what she was buying, I thought that very reasonable.
The staff spent a lot of time with us, assembling the right ensemble of earrings, necklace, and a ring for my wife. In speaking with them, it was very apparent that they knew, not just their business, but personally knew most of the artists whose jewelry they were selling. From some of the stories they told of how they conduct business I could tell that they really did deal directly with the Artists, and had a great deal of respect for them and for their work.
While most of what attracted my attention fell into the "understated elegance" category, they had several pieces that were quite dramatic. Even so, the wonderful quality of the craftsmanship of all their pieces was very obvious, from their deceptively simple rings and belt buckles to pieces that any blinged up rapper would be proud to flaunt.
If you want "real" that isn't overpriced, provided by an experienced group of people who know what they are doing, this is the place for you. read more
