Service is really good. We were seated fast and orders were taken shortly afterwards. I got the fish and chips. The deep fried fish was good but average in my opinion. The fries were tasty. It satisfied my hunger but it was just average to me. My girlfriend got the chili bowl with jalapeño cornbread. She liked it but again felt it was average fare. The portions are pretty big but bigger doesn't necessarily mean it's better. I will probably try again but I think the burgers are a better option than the fish and chips. It's comfortable inside with a back room for overflow. We soon found out why it was so a buzz. Great food, great service and Joe, who's probably the most personable and sincere owner I've ever come across, who shared some great stories. The icing on the cake was finding out he briefly lived near us in central NC. It really is a small world! I had a delicious reuben sandwich with perfectly grilled bread. My spouse had been craving a BLT and this one hit the mark. A generous order of fries rounded it all out. Good food aside, Joe was the highlight. He was happy to share some info about sites to see in Dayton, for future reference, a city he clearly loves. When we were leaving we looked for him to thank him and say goodbye, but didn't see him. To our surprise he suddenly appeared out the front door to chat with us a bit further. This was a first. To feel so welcomed by an owner, esp given how busy they were.
