The bouncers here are very rude. I am a UD alum. I was visiting with my sister. We were completely sober and cooperative, but they were very rude to us, forcefully telling us to wait to the side then forgetting about us. When we politely reminded we were there, they continued speaking to each other and pretended they couldn't hear us. I usually love this bar but the bouncers are getting power mad and have no respect for cooperative paying customers (we paid $10 cover). Bring back human decency, if you hate your job get a new one. Don't take it out on the customers. Will not be returning, used to be a great place. read more

Food was amazing, highly recommend boneless wings and pretzel bites. We gave it a 2 because of other interactions but food deserves a 5. However we moved chairs to sit more comfortably and when asked to move them back and after we agreed to, a staff member had gave us a hard time and asked if we were trying to pick a fight, though there was only our group and one other in the entire bar. This interaction did not sit will with my group and we decided to leave once done with our food. read more

Misled by Locals, not knocking the establishment for it! Whilst driving through the Dayton area with my wife and children, we were hungry for a bite to eat, and had spoken to a well-dressed and well to-do older male who advised and recommended we try the Grill at Timothy's Bar and Grill. While we understood that the girls were likely not allowed in, we stationed them in the back of the Honda (with the car still running) and a Papa John's Pizza as my wife and I entered the dainty abode of Sir Timothy of Grillington. We were tempted to dabble with Milano's, but we thought we would trust the elderly man who only identified himself as "The B.S.P" While the food was not terrible, I did take offense to the lack of seating, and the lack of condiments; let alone food in general. It took a lot out of my wife and I to go back to the Honda and devour the Double Cheddar Burger Pizza from our daughters as they napped (they were unable to get to the pizza before exhaustion overtook them). Timothy, if you are reading this, I would HIGHLY recommend a name change to reflect the actual services provided at your establishment. My wife and I would have had a great time, though, I feel like. I agree with parts of the reviews of Tim's thus far but feel that I provide a different perspective. Yes, Tim's is exclusively for UD students. Yes, Tim's is hellishly shabby and probably STD-ridden. (And no one even mentioned the bathrooms!) Yes, Tim's is the location of many Wall-motivated-poor-life-decisions. BUT, I think I speak for a lot of people when I say, I love Tim's. In fact, some of my best memories of UD occurred at Tim's. That's right, I said I remember being at Tim's many a nights. Because what a lot of people don't seem to realize is that Tim's is not solely for the stupidly drunk. Sometimes my friends and I planned our nights around Tim's (getting there before midnight to avoid the $3 cover). Some people really do like to dance--even sober--and not because they want to be grinded on by cargo-shorts-and-polo-wearing hambones, or creeped on by middle-aged weirdos (which are actually deterrents to dancing). But because they are young and want to have fun. Some people even like to dance on a platform and a pole. Does that make them skanks? No. It means that they appreciates the fact that they are in college and have the opportunity to dance on a pole. That is what Tim's is about--living in the moment. To emphasize that Tim's is not only for the heavily inebriated, let me recall a recent conversation that my friend had with a Tim's bouncer. He said, "Oh yeah, you were the girls that never bought drinks." Yes, we really did just go there to dance. Rather than a pathetic frat boy or low-grade beer, I feel that Tim's can be compared to another UD staple: a house in the Ghetto. Would I prefer a first-rate club in close proximity to campus with a real DJ and locking restroom stalls? Yes; just as living in a brand new house without holes in the wall or a squirrel living in the attic would seem better than a house on Lowes. But how can I feel anything but love for my Ghetto house senior year or Timothy's Bar and Grill? They are more than buildings; they are experiences and memories. They are made complete in their imperfections. read more

I don't know what this location was like in the past but it's certainly worth a visit today. My husband and I live in Dayton and have frequented a majority of the bars in this area. We have purposely avoided this bar due to the "college club" vibe. Let. Me. Tell. You.... We randomly were having dinner nearby and said "you know, we've never been. Let's drop by for one." The upstairs is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! New leather seats, new bar back, bar top, drink menu...this place has a 5 star vibe without the 5 star fuss. We were floored and loved every second of our visit. I hope they are able to keep up the high class feel. Honestly, (and I hope the owner reads this) THEY NEED TO INCREASE PRICES AND GET REAL GLASSWARE. Love Tim's! Tim's will always hold a speedy place in my heart. The owners are awesome! Love that they got the upstairs up and running.

This place genuinely blows. Its only as good as the people who go there. Drinks are expensive, there are never any deals, the bouncers are try-hards, and to top it all off, there is a nightly cover. No place is worth paying just to walk in the door, especially Tim's. Oh and the "Grill" part of the name is essentially nonexistent. I wouldn't know where to get/order food even if I wanted some. read more

OK. Two caveats: 1.) This is a college bar. 2.) You must be at a certain level of drunkenness before you walk in the door to appreciate the unique experience that Tim's delivers. If you are looking for a place to kick back a few beers with your pals and chat it up, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a place to dance your ass off with your friends, act like a fool and have a good time (think wedding reception-like drunken dancing), then Tim's it is! The review for Tim's really revolves around a core distinction that I believe the other review neglects. If you are going to Tim's, you already know what you're getting into. In fact, the requirement of a review for Tim's is, at its core, ridiculous, but I will do my best. This is not the kind of bar to go if you want cleanliness or nice relaxing atmosphere. If you want to drink tasty expensive beers (and I usually do) walk outside, turn to your left, and go to Milano's. If you want to black out and make poor life choices, congratulations, you've arrived. There are only 3 reasons (excluding that you're already black-out drunk) you would ever, AND I MEAN EVER, go to Tim's on purpose. 1) You want to drink til you can't feel feelings - get a wall, oddly delicious, suspiciously potent 2) You want to hook up with someone - any girl who says "I just want to dance" is really just saying "Look at me!" and though they might ever follow through with a hook up, they will be teasing some poor bastard on the dance floor all night long. I don't think I even need to remind people why any guy would come "to dance". 3) You're not 21 yet - Thursday night is 18+, which gives an amazing demographic of 50% 18-20; 25% 21-23; 25% older than 30. And yes, people from 23-30 do not go to Tim's on a Thursday. The other review compared Tim's to the lonely frat guy who no one really wants around. He is wrong. Much as Tim's seems to be a bar of choice at UD, it can most accurately be compared to the drink of choice, Milwaukee's Best. No one really knows why it's a tradition, and God knows you don't go there for the quality. But sure enough, you always seem to come back for more. read more

This Bar denied a perfectly good ID.. would not go again. Bar tenders are extremely slow and bouncers are singing and dancing to the music while not actually doing their job. Despite the generally negative reviews below, I like this place. It's rowdy, loud, and kinda like a frat party, perfect for a campus bar. I came here whilst visiting my sister who goes to UD and I found this place akin to my favorite OSU bars, and the service and drinks were overall pretty good! (The wall will give you one rude hangover if you're not a seasoned veteran) read more

Anybody who is anybody on the weekends at UD goes to Tim's. UD has a few other bars - Bargo's, Flannigans, The Field House, Malano's, and Bdubs. The first three being great bars for the week-day drinker, but if you're not at Tim's on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, you should have just saved yourself some money and went to community college. There is a select group of people who live and breath Milano's. This bar is kind of a half-way house where UD hides the cargo short wearing mouth breathing nerds away from mainstream society. Freshman and Sophomores wonder why they never see their RA's out on the weekends.. THIS IS WHERE THEY ARE!! 95% of people who are in attendance at Milano's after the sun goes down never had an alcoholic drink until their sophomore year of college and are still trying to get to second base with their girlfriend they met at band camp. If you happening to be visiting the city of Dayton for a comic book convention, this is probably the place for you - they will even check your asthma inhaler at the door for no cost... that's less you have to carry in the 10th pocket of your cargo shorts. Timothy's completely sums up what UD is all about. It's a complete shit hole packed full of suburban white kids acting like wild animals and getting blacked out drunk, holding absolutely nothing back. The bar itself has absolutely no substance to it. It is one huge room that has two bars and a stripper pole. They have a signature drink called the "Wall".. it's about the equivalent of ruffying yourself. Have two walls at Tim's and you're guaranteed to wake up the next day either next to a fat chick or in jail. Yes, this is an absolutely filthy bar with rude bouncers and bathrooms so gross I actually gag a little when I think about how times I used those things. But a few years out of UD and I miss this place like crazy, shame on you UD alum bashing good ole Tim's! I attended Wright State, the other college in Dayton. BTW, Flyers, congratulations on your NCAA tourney run! Tim's is almost as bad as the poo pond in Afghanistan. I only went there three times. One of my fraternity brothers tended bar, so I got to drink free, but even free booze wasn't enough. The mens room! There were no urinals or toilets, only a concrete floor with a 1/2 inch of piss on it and a hole where I am assuming a toilet used to sit. I threw away my shoes after I left. I probably should have burned my clothes and bathed in chlorhexidene, too! read more
