This is my go to for Chinese in Evansville. From dining in to taking the buffet to go, I have yet to be disappointed! There is ample parking and they have several tables and booths if you are opting to dine in. On this visit I got my food to go. They have several food options on the buffet along with a hibachi grill and sushi station. Fair warning tho if you are getting your food to go there is a per piece charge on the sushi. Always great service and checking out is a breeze. You weigh your food and they bag it up with any utensils and sauces that you may need and out the door you go. Simple as pie! The front desk employee, an older woman with short hair, was very rude and unprofessional. Her behavior made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome from the moment I arrived. What bothered me the most was that she seemed to assume I was taking or stealing food from the buffet without any reason, which felt discriminatory and disrespectful. I'm not the biggest fan of Asian buffet, so keep that in mind. I only went because my wife chose it. The salmon was soggy from sitting in the water. The fried fish was much better. The other foods I ate were your average buffet foods, nothing outstanding and nothing terrible. read more

I wanted this to be good. I was looking for a local Chinese buffet in Evansville, but the quality of the food was mediocre. I tried the egg rolls, which were cold and tough, and the chicken dishes were chewy and mostly flavorless. The building is located right off of a busy main road and is easy to locate. After 3pm they switch to dinner pricing, which is kind of annoying, but it's their business model. Upon entering you are greeted with a standard "Asian" motif, and the decor is adequate. It is one of my favorite Chinese buffets. I'm not saying my favorite Chinese restaurant but definitely favorite buffet. In my travels, I have tried many horrible Chinese buffets. This is standard which I measure the rest. They are constant throughout the day open to close. Only complaint is that they have added a few too many non-traditional items which limits the room more Chinese items. This used to be my favorite place. They used to have really good salmon now it taste like fish that they're trying to act like its Samon. It's not pink it's awful the shrimp wrapped in bacon used to be crispy and now it's got so much water over it it's more steamed, they used to have little steak cubes in a teriyaki sauce now it's the beef you would use in peppered steak so many things have changed and it's just not the quality it used to be :( I could go on with more but you get the drift. The bathrooms are OK the place used to be pretty well full. With people eating but they only had one section open. I just don't think people are going there as much because the food is just not the quality that it used to be. read more

Okay - I'm not a reviewer - usually just a lurker. I know as someone who travels sometimes - I look to yelp a lot to get reviews, and I have noticed on their yelp page, they get pretty decent reviews and there seem to be a lot of out-of-towners that drop in. This used to be me and my mom's go to place for Chinese food. They do have a HUGE buffet and the wait staff has always been very helpful/polite. I have never gotten sick or personally had a problem with anything. That being said - I also refuse to go there anymore. Anyone who gets the news locally around here will probably tell you this location, and the second locations on the West side has been closed down for health violations. Like a disturbing amount of health violations, one after another. It seems like a bulk of them were West side, but I do know they did have the Burkhardt one shut down at least once for health code violations. I posted a link to the story below. I'm not sure if it'll work- again, I'm not much of an active reviewer, but if I was from out of town, and considering this place, I would want to know about it. How crazy is Crazy Buffet? I would have to say pretty crazy. My first walk around the buffet area was a lot of "What? They have that too??" Sushi, seafood, mongolian grill, frog legs, salad bar, chocolate fountain plus your usual Chinese fix. It's the whole nine yards for less than $10. Ate here yesterday against my better judgement. We have eaten here in the past and the food has been poor quality and the service rude. My husband loves Chinese food though, so I bit the bullet and came anyway with him. The food was average at best, part of the food that was supposed to be warm, was not, and part of it was warm. Part of it was so dried out on the edges that I couldn't chew it. There's a small sign when you come in that says do not waste food! It goes on to say that if you waste food you will be charged $4.99 per pound for each pound your waste. How do you know if you're going to like their food before you even try it? How do you know what they consider waste? I wanted to walk out when I saw the sign but I stayed because of my husband. I got very small portions of everything so that I could eat it even if it tasted like crap. The buffet itself did look pretty big, but the food did not look that appetizing. Some of it was OK. Some of it was just blah. In the fruit section, there was a small child, who is fingering all of the fruit. The mother tried to discourage her from doing this, she told her she had to use the tongs that came in that section to use. So the little girl picked up a piece of fruit, shoved it in the tongs, held the tongs shut with her hands and put it on her plate and smiled real big with delight because she had done something the right way. There was no one there to stop her. I can't say I truly blame the restaurant for that but it did add to my experience. When we got ready to leave I picked up the bill and I was heading towards the front door so I can pay it. Immediately the server came over and said "you pay me, you pay me". I have the feeling she thought I was going to try to stiff them or something. I told her I wanted to pay upfront and she repeated "you pay me to pay me you pay me". I had planned to ask about a senior discount because I'm old enough to get it, and my 90 yr old mother was with us who hardly eats anything, but I was so startled by her reaction to me just standing up with the bill in my hand that I didn't think to. When she came back, I saw the bill and we were charged like $15 a plate for our food. The drinks were extra. It actually seemed a little steep to me, considering what I had received. I asked her do you not give senior discounts? Most servers that I have had in the past try to do all they can to save their customers money because they usually get it in their tip. She went over and asked the lady who we had met when we first came in I'm assuming it's the owner. The owner scowled at me and said something about she would talk to us it in a little bit, that she was busy. The server just stood there and looked nervous, like as if there was going to be trouble. Then the owner went to take care of some other customer. I waited a couple minutes and then just said to myself, screw it. I looked at my husband and said very calmly said let's just go ahead and go I'm tired I don't feel like waiting around. I signed the slip where I had paid, and turned to exit the door. The owner came to me and said you don't have to be rude, I'm like what? She demanded that I let her explain something to me, she said now all you want to do is be rude and leave, that is not necessary. I told her I was not being rude, that I was tired and I was going home. She said let me explain this to you and I walked on out. First of all, she accused me of being rude and I wasn't rude, I said nothing rude to them at all, I just decided I wasn't going to wait around for some piddly discount that I may or may not get. I was tired it had been a long day and it was time to leave. If anyone was rude, it was her because she was accusing me of something I did not do. I don't know what has happened to customer service nowadays, but I don't think it exists in most places. One of the thing I'd like to mention is the whole place is very dated. It needs a complete update, but the bathrooms were the worst. It might've just been because of how long since they've been updated, but they appear dirty to me. The table that we ate on look like it had a film of wax that had been there for a very long time. I wasn't sure if the table was even clean. I rubbed my hand across it to see if it was dirty, and it just felt kind of waxy or greasy. I just didn't like my eating utensils directly on the table. I kept a napkin under them as a barrier. It has been a long time since I agreed to come back to this restaurant. Probably five years or more. The reason I had not been back to this restaurant is pretty much the reason I'm writing this review, the food did not taste good to me, and the service was terrible and rude. This place used to be "ok" but after COVID hit, when you go there now it is buffet style and you tell them what you want and they serve you. They are extremely stingy with what they are willing to give you. When I asked for a little more the lady serving me huffed and puffed and looked at me like I offended her. It was crazy. This place could be summed up in one phrase..."Quantity over Quality". But if you want the rest of my input, here it is... Pros: Very good honey chicken. Full bar with reasonably priced stiff drinks. Huge selection. Several dessert options. Cons: Poor service & low quality food. Food sits on the buffet a long time unless its one of the popular items. The sushi & Mongolian chefs are as unfriendly as you can find. I tip them well, but it doesn't matter. They're down right rude. Also, you'll see employees on their phone and Ive even seen a few eating in front of customers. Tip: They are on Groupon and Seize the Deal all the time. Buy before you go and you'll save a bunch. I will say, not the biggest fan of Chinese buffets because I find the standard on food quality is a little subpar,... having said that, this Chinese buffet is actually pretty good, and I was impressed by their sushi bar... it's got a nice variety of nigiri and sushi rolls that taste as good as your standard sushi joint. Not the best sushi on the planet, but certainly better than many =) I like to go here just for the sushi and have 2 or 3 plates of it.... which at 7 bucks or so for the lunch buffet, is one great great deal =) With the rest of the food, I believe the standard person will be pleased... people with low expectations will be amazed, though foodies might not necessarily like to return.. GLUTTONY: Excess in EATING or drinking. Welcome to the Crazy Chinese Buffet! While in town for Thanksgiving, I needed my "fix" for a good Chinese buffet where I could stuff myself into a state of food euphoria. Seriously, I miss this place. I've lived in Chicago for a year now, and have never seen one buffet here. Too bad, because at Crazy Buffet, they do it up right. This is, by far, the cleanest, and best China buffet I have ever eaten at. Wifey & I walked in about 2:00 on Black Friday, and noticed it wasn't too busy, so we proceeded to sit down and anxiously await the 'lil China woman to give us the green light to proceed onto the Chinese heaven. I loaded my plate with: Orange Chicken, Pineapple Chicken, Shrimp & Chicken, Generals Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Spicy Beef, Crab Rangoon, and the best buffet option ever, Coconut Chicken & Shrimp! While seated and still consuming my first heaping plate, wifey & I noticed similarities with the patrons that were being seated near us. Regardless of race or sex, they possessed scarily similar physical characteristics. Yes, they were all very round in shape. Not portly, but blatantly rotund. It's been nearly a year since I've been in Evansville, so I was taken back by the witnessing of so many fat people. Sorry, I need to be PC: "Caloric Challenged." Physical fitness is NOT a way of life in Southern Indiana. God Bless my wonderful Grandmother for forcing me to take finishing classes as a teen. THANK YOU! As a faithful Yelper, I wanted to take a picture of this display of happiness on the faces of patrons as they inhaled plate after plate of Chinese goodness. Wifey kicked me under the table with that "look." I, reluctantly refrained. But, I did not refrain from grabbing another plate. The second time around, I sampled more Coconut Chicken, and went to the sushi bar and swiped about 10 pieces of various rolls. Here at Crazy they have an actual sushi chef. He makes the sushi in front of you, and there is a huge tip jar. I paid my $8 for all you can eat, so I decided that tipping wasn't necessary. The look of discontent of the chef's face wasn't necessary either. I have found a cure for depression, and it's not in form of a pill, but just $8 for all you can stuff @ the Crazy Buffet. I agree with all the posts here. Best buffet in the Evansville area. They have a Mongolian grill, even at lunch, which is 6.99 without a drink. They have sushi too, though I've never tried it. Best part of it is that it is not nearly as salty as most buffets, especially the one near it, across from the Walmart. Only complaint I have is the crab ragoon was somewhat of a disappointment even though I still get it. While it's great for a buffet, remember it's still buffet food. I recommend the peanut chicken. read more

As far as Chinese Buffets goes this is pretty run of the mill. Food is fresh at peak hours, the Mongolian grill is nice and actually includes shrimp which some other buffets in the area do not. Service has been good every time I've been here, staff is really good about refilling your drink and clearing plates. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of young children are allowed to self serve at the buffet and sometimes use there hands to pick and return items, there should better monitoring. Egg rolls and other fried options, taste like freezer burn sometimes. The chocolate fountain kind of just sits there full of stagnant chocolate open to air during lunch when it's not being used, not sure if that's a great idea. This is my favorite Chinese buffet to date. They have one of my favorite dishes - salt and pepper squid, and they add calamari to their seafood delight (along with pollock, of course!) That dish also has a good variety of vegetables. Another favorite is the Creamy Chicken and Shrimp, but they have MANY more dishes to choose from, including a wide variety of sushi and a Mongolian Grill. As usual, I look for vegetables at a Chinese buffet, and I'm not disappointed with the selection available. As well as loading up on the mixed vegetables and the green beans, I can graze from the many other dishes to supplement my veggie craving. As someone else noted, the sushi/Mongolian grill chef is not overly friendly, but he is a meticulous cook who is very good at what he does. I visited this restaurant a lot when my cousin was in the hospital, and one day they handed me a VIP card - now I can get a 10% discount for myself and anyone else at my table. Is it fancy? No. Were you expecting fancy from a name like crazy buffet? The place was clean. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The buffet had SO many options + decent sushi + Mongolian grill (didn't try the grill, looked fine and I like M grills, but too many items to try on buffet). The food was great. The price was great. Two MINOR flaws. The house steak was overdone. The buffet islands are deep and inner dishes are difficult to reach (but would I cut back items or seating space to fix this - no). Lotsa shrimp items! I specifically recommend their coconut shrimp with a little ginger sauce. It is better than some c shrimp I've had as stand alone dishes at nicer chain restaurants (not too sweet). + lotsa items I know my kids would love if they were there with us tonight. read more

They do have a variety of foods... waitress will argue with you, for whatever reason.... mine was because she gave me diet Pepsi instead of regular. Argument went on for longer than it should have. MY favorite buffet in Evansville and newburgh they have a Mongolian grill sushi seafood soup Chinese and Japanese food great service always fresh and some of the best sushi i have had (buffet wise) awesome atmosphere for a buffet and a full bar also they prices are great i think it is about 12$ all you can eat and 7-8$ for lunch all you can eat i love this place when ever i am craving good food but don't want to spend alot its a great place read more
