We had a Class Reunion recently and food was catered in for it. Food was absolutely amazing. Everyone talked about how good the Beef and Broccoli, General Tso Chicken, and the House Lo Mein was. I am going to be sure and come to Canton Inn and bring my family and friends from now on!!!! If you need any catering done, be sure and get Canton Inn to do it!! This place ROCKS!!!!! read more

Canton Inn was our go to Chine food restaurant for 40 years but, it changed ownership for the third time in 2026. We were told by family and friends it was terrible now but we had to try it because everyone has different tastes. Well, sadly, they were right. We had the sweet and sour chicken, chicken fried rice, and pork wor mein. The breading on the sweet and sour chicken was gross! It was crispy on the outside and mush on the inside. It was also flavorless. They put the sweet and sour sauce in a separate container. It had only 2 pieces of pineapple and some carrots. The pork wor mein had a strange taste. We didn't know what it was but it was very unappetizing. The chicken fried rice lace the bean sprouts we loved it was very plain but, it was edible unlike the other two dishes. We have never had throw away food from the old Canton Inn. We threw away everything including the leftover fried rice. We will not be returning. We will miss the flavors of our old Canton Inn. It's so sad to see this done to a once wonderful restaurant. read more

I have eaten at the Canton Inn hundreds of times since 1982 when I lived on that side of Evansville. In recent years, I only pop in for lunch if I happen to be on that side of town. I know they changed ownership perhaps twice, and during recent visits I noticed the food on the buffet basically looks the same, but doesn't always taste the same. After today's experience, I seriously doubt I will ever return. I am practically a vegetarian, had a few pieces of different types of chicken, but mostly vegetables. I noticed that one of the chicken dishes tasted off, so I pushed it to the side. Within a matter of minutes after leaving, my stomach was cramping. I had to pull into a gas station to use their restroom. Before I could make it home I had to stop again and this time I had explosive diarrhea. A clear indication of food poisoning. read more

I was recently here for lunch on a Wednesday. It was noon, and they had a nice crowd but not real busy. I had not been here for years so I wasn't sure how good it would be. I was pleasantly surprised. We had reserved a side room for our group, and we were immediately showed to our seats and our drink orders were taken. The buffet had a large variety of dishes, which the servers were watching and refilling as needed. Everything I got was delicious except for the egg drop soup. It was watery with not much flavor. The restaurant was clean including the women's restroom, the service was fast, and it was an enjoyable experience. I look forward to returning. read more

Canton has always been a family favorite. This has been our go to chinese restaurant for over 15 years. We ordered food today without knowing of the change in ownership, but we will not be back. Nothing tasted the same, or even good. The egg rolls were hand made under the previous owner (the original owners son), but these tasted oddly like the same store bought egg rolls I purchase when I grocery shop, not hand made. The hunan chicken had no flavor, too much chicken and little to no other vegetables other than broccoli. The general tso's chicken had an extremely off taste, almost like store bought sweet and sour sauce was tossed on soggy watery frozen chicken bites. The crab rangoon under the previous owner were wonderful and were my favorite thing on the menu, but tonight did not even taste close to the same. We will not be back and are extremely dissatisfied and disappointed in what our favorite chinese takeout spot used to be. read more

We have have been eating here for years and they just changed ownership. The food quality and flavor of food has went from excellent to terrible. Save your money and eat elsewhere. We will not be back, you lost us as loyal customers. read more

Im not big on Chinese buffets. We moved here a month ago and just tried it. Absolutely amazing. Service was spot on. Food was tasty and fresh. Highly recommend. read more

Canton Inn Restaurant - Beef and cabbage, pork and vegetables and gen. Tsao chicken. - Buffets Near Me - Evansville, Indiana

Food is amazing! I typically go thru the drive thru but when we eat inside, it's always clean. Service has always been great whether going thru drive thru or eating inside! read more

Today I stopped by Canton to get a lunch buffet to go. I am a longtime customer (over 30 years) and Canton has always been my hands down favorite. I noticed the sign posted on the door saying they have changed SOME of their flavors, but I thought "they can't change everything" so I went on in. I was wrong! The first thing I noticed is the fried rice isn't fried anymore. It's pale yellow. Many items on the buffet look different and some popular items are missing. Nevertheless I filled my box, paid and took myself home. The rice was too salty to eat. The generals chicken had few vegetables and the chicken was rubbery. The beef in the beef and cabbage was spongy and the gravy tasted like the kind out of a dry package. Egg rolls, cold, chewy and half filled. I am so disappointed and sad. Disappointed the new owner isn't upholding the previous owner's standards and sad that I have lost my favorite Asian restaurant. I won't be back. read more

Loved the crab rangoons here, they're so tasty when fresh and hot. They have a drive through and service is great. Nice restaurant with good portions and good selection in buffet! read more

Meh... edible and decent price. Definitely not the best Chinese buffet in town, but it's location is definitely easier to get to, and typically less crowded than the east-side buffets. Seriously need to work on their soups. The Hot and sour and Eggdrop are both wildly inconsistent, but somehow consistently horrible. Service is good, just go with lowered expectations and it's, well, food. ‍ read more

Really good fried rice. Buffet not huge but everything you'd want. Hot and sour soup is my husband's favorite. I really like their hot mustard (not packets), sweet and sour sauce and duck sauce. The last time we ate there it seemed to be quite a bit better. read more

The food is always amazing!!!! The Staff is always so friendly and helpful! My favorite place to eat!!!!!

Amazing old school ambiance like old school jambos if anyone remembers that place, not a giant selection of food but it's very good and the employees are nice it's worth giving a try for sure read more

We stopped in on Saturday night and picked up a buffet to go. Everything was great and consistent on what we have enjoyed in the past from canton. They have the best egg rolls, crab Rangoon and hot and sour soup in Evansville. read more

Probably the most disgusting and disappointing experience I've ever had at a restaurant. All the food and I do mean all, tasted like peanut oil, and was so bad that my pregnant wife literally threw up the little bit she was able to eat in the parking lot. Most of the "buffet" was chicken, the crab Rangoon was so over cooked it was barely edible, and the lo mien had zero taste to it. Really not worth it. read more

Food has gone downhill since owns have changed. Burnt, cold, all the food tastes the same.

Buffet has some new items,so good! It is worth to try them! read more

Take out fried rice is the way to go every time. I've never been inside, so I can't comment on that. But the price is great and the food is great every time! I always crave it when I'm home. It's great fresh and leftover. You can't go wrong!! read more

Went to Canton tonight. One of the best Chinese American buffets in Evansville and personally the best hot and sour soup I have ever tried anywhere. Their version of Chinese American style food is A cut above most places. Even with the new ownership they have stayed top notch. Always happy whenever I come here for sure. The carry out is awesome too!! read more

I'm seriously disappointed in this restaurant. This Buffett has probably the worst selection of food. The evening we went we tried several dishes and all were cold. Our table was dirty. We were offered one drink. It's one of very few bad reviews I'll ever write. So sad. read more

Their buffet is great, but you need to, like any buffet, understand that the qualities of the food are dependent on time. It's still really good. Their service is on spot. They try to be at your table before you realize you need a fresh drink. read more

I've given this Chinese restaurant a try twice and both times had been disappointing. A lot of people seem to really enjoy this restaurant, but the quality of the food is never any good. I'd recommend eating at another Chinese buffet in Evansville. read more

The new owner was extremely rude. I always loved Canton Inn was my favorite. Definitely won't be going back.

This is probably the best Chinese restaurant in Evansville; I just cant say enough good things about it. This was the first Chinese food I had tried when I was 21 back in 1986. I loved it! I tried friend 5-6 others in town since and no where else even comes close to the freshest, best selection, service or price. The owners, the Seto family are awesome people and always there and make a point to greet their loyal customers by name and wait staff are always friendly and attentive. CANTON ROCKS read more

Amazing food. Very friendly staff! And the bill is never too bad. Perfect for a date/ anniversary or just a lunch. Highly recommend them.

The best chicken fried rice I've ever had. I ordered Hunan chicken and it was delicious also.

I thought I was dead and buried. Well, let's be honest-- I was. Someone-- an angel from above... or below... dug me out of that pit and left me there on a Wednesday post-morning. A silenced buffet stood before me. I succumbed. Good crab rangoon is good on your worst day. Even better on the day you were fated to die. Recharged, I picked up the pace to reach the ferry at the Pigeon Creek Delta. Had a score to settle with a card player who had a way about Catholic women and Swiss chocolate. read more

Been eating here since I was a kid and have always loved it! The only thing I would suggest is that they switch up their buffet... maybe add more of a variety of new things? And not close down the buffet from 2-4. Not sure why they do that... maybe people just don't tend to eat there between those hours so they feel it's wasteful or something? Idk... Regardless, their food is always absolutely amazing and I have never been disappointed other than the fried rice always having a burnt taste for some reason. Everything else is superb. The owners are very friendly and pleasant folks as well. I love going to Canton Inn because I always know I will leave full and happy! It's one of the best Asian places in town. read more

This restaurant gives me the feel of authentic Chinese Food that I had not have in a long time. Evansville is a small town so there is not a lot of option. Most Chinese restaurant is buffet. This place offers both buffet and menu. The price is very reasonable, abundant of food. We ordered dinner for 3 and there were plentiful left over to bring home too. Their egg rolls are just like the one I had when I was a kid. The egg drop soup needs some seasoning and the mushroom should not be in the soup. Other than that there food tasted great. I will have to come back another time with my family. read more

OH MY GOODNESS! Hubby and I LOVE this restaurant. The food is HOT, the pans kept clean and full. The crab ragoons are amazing, hot sour soup delicious, spring rolls the best I've ever tasted since leaving Hawaii. General Tso was very flavorful with just the right amount of breading. Everything we sampled was simply delicious, the staff was warm, friendly and inviting. The dining room and bathrooms were spotless. We will definitely be back. Thank you Canton Inn for such a delightful experience. read more

First, the GPS took me to the apartments behind the shopping center where this place is located. The address is correct though. I went around noon on a Thursday and this place was PACKED!!! If you wanted to dine-in, you had to wait for a seat. I chose to get mine $7.00 buffet to-go. The food wasn't spectacular but it defiantly wasn't bad at all. I got the steamed rice, lemon chicken, crab dragons, and spring rolls. Everything was nice and crispy and I thought the spring rolls were great. Overall this is a pretty good place for a Chinese buffet. read more

As a general rule, I stay away from buffets. However, this one is fantastic! Have eaten here twice. Very clean, fresh, delicious! Will go back next time we're in Evansville. read more

I will start like this the buffet has no salads, everything tasted like sugar and or frozen foods. Chinese food has a sweet, heat to the chicken and most veggies are cooked with garlic and spices. Their Chicken was nothing put a sugar rush and the veggies was frozen..I cook Chinese and fresh veggies at home, you can taste the difference between fresh and frozen.I will just keep going to Princeton IN to eat Chinese,I know they make fresh Veggies every day, they even snap their green beans and the chicken has that perfect taste of China. read more

Food is half cooked and stale every time I've been and the management is ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS at customer service, the rudest people to run a business. Never coming back. read more

This place rocks, but I may be biased as it is pretty much the first Chinese restaurant I became acquainted with. The trick, as with most buffets, is to get there at opening or when they change out the steam table. I love the Crab Rangoon! read more

I went in near closing today, and I must say even though they were close to closing the food was still delicious! I am new to Evansville, Indiana and this was my first time there. The manager/owner not sure which, was soo friendly, that he really made an impression on me. I am not used to people running their restaurants in a way that management goes out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. I will be returning here for any future cravings!! The crab rangoons were off the hook!!! I loved my experience here, and I didn't eat in so I can only imagine how much better my experience could have been if I dined in!! read more

I'm really mixed in my experience here. The egg rolls and the crab rangoon were the best I've ever had. The rest of the food bar was hit or miss. The beef dishes were a little gummy; the chicken, too. I think they had been sitting for a while following the lunch rush. Some were good; some not so good. The service was the same way. The owner was very personable and ask us several times how we were doing; on the other hand, the waitress was rude rude rude. I paused for a moment while considering my drink order and she showed frustration like I was taking up her time. She was rude the entire visit. If I return here, it will be through take out so the food if fresh and I don't have to deal with the temperamental waitress. read more

This is the finest Chinese buffet I have ever had. The food is always hot and fresh and Yim the owner is great!! Would highly recommend.
