The Crayola Experience is inside the mall. The mall is marked very clearly from the outside with plenty of colorful signage. It is absolutely easy to figure out where to park. The parking lot that the signs point you two has the entry to the Crayola Experience right inside the doors, it was incredibly convenient not lugging the kiddos all around a mall trying to find the business. We went on a Wednesday, in the summer. We got there 5 till opening and very thrilled we timed it like this as we had the place almost to ourselves for 40 minutes and that full first hour was pretty quiet with no lines to do anything. We did leave after an hour because we saw daycares rolling in and knew we needed to not deal with that. This was our first time doing this so we learned that the season passes are only $5 more thank the day pass, there are activities inside that are not included and need to buy the arcade games, water thing for gemstones, and a couple other things. Activities: At the entry you get some coins, a paper business card size vouche, and a bag. You need the coins to make your own crayon label and molding clay. We felt it was better to have the molding clay but it was our first time do we didn't know any better. There are two activities where you use a machine to heat up the Crayola and if pours into the mold, a couple of the areas were not working properly so I can't speak on Thoes but I hope it was s fluke thing and I hope they work next time we go. The facility was clean, restrooms were clean, the staff was friendly. There isn't a ton to do here so older kids (7+) will bore quickly. The 3-6 yo would really enjoy this. Nothing really for the 2 and under group that would fit their skill set and the playground would not be safe for the under 3 group bc the kids in there haul it and would knock a little one down on accident. Overall I liked this place, kept the kiddos engaged for 45 mins and by the time they were saying they were bored the daycares were coming in anyways so it was fine with us. We love this place and plan to get a membership. It's so fun for kids of all ages!!! I love that they have a play area for toddlers and older kids! The only cons is some of the art work stations are confusing and not sure how to use them with no assistance nearby. Also, when doing the crayola spin machine a young employee was following us closely and asking us to not touch other machines since she's trying to clean up and standing next to us asking random questions about my personal life but also telling me what to do and not to do at the machines... I'm a grown adult I know how to handle my kid and the spin machine. read more

The idea behind this place is a good one, but it is not as exciting as I'd hoped. There are several opportunities for kids to complete activities that involved coloring and painting, a okay place, and some other activities that involve technology. It's all fun, especially for kids over 4-5, but it was quick to get through all the activities. I was hoping the show would be more exciting and engaging, to see more staff interacting with the guests, and some cute crayon mascots. I do not think it's worth the price to visit it, but I'm a teacher and my daughter in under 2 so we were both free entry. Overall, it was underwhelming. read more

Sooooo many daycares and summer camps. I caution you if you plan to go, call beforehand and ask how many groups are planning to attend that day. My kids got trampled on so we asked for our money back only to be given vouchers to come another day. Kicker......they put an expiration on our vouchers. CRAYOLA EXPERIENCE REVIEW - We decided to check out the "CRAYOLA Experience" in Plano Texas recently, so this review is based on January 2020. Similarly to "LEGO Land" at Grapevine Mills Mall, The Crayola Experience is a brand experience anchored onto the side of a mall. Crayola Experience is in Plano at "The Parks at Willow Bend" Mall, off the Dallas North Tollway just north of George Bush Turnpike. Admission is $23.99 per person for the day ages 3 and up, and free for 2 and below. If you buy tickets online you can get a discounted rate of $20.99, and it is possible to buy tickets online while you stand in the lobby of Crayola Experience on your phone. Our family of 4 which included one infant was approximately $65 with tax to get in for the day. The facility is very large, approximately the size of a warehouse, and has been colorfully painted in Crayola style. Everything was extremely spaced out, as if the place was designed to accommodate more than 1000 people simultaneously. It felt somewhat awkward then, that there were less than 100 people in the place on the day that we visited, making the vest facility seem sort of barren and empty. When you enter there are machines where you can create your own personalized crayon, a very nice touch, you use a token that they provide you with admission to put into the machine color of your choice and print out a custom label that you can put your name or whatever you'd like on. A nearby station allows you to apply the label to the crayon and this is one of the keepsakes that you can take back with you. If you want to buy additional tokens to make more custom crayons they are $.50 each. Many other activities in the experience are unique, like melting down crayons to make artwork, or to melt down crayons to form different shapes in a mold. The most notable was the live show which they present to every hour which actually shows the creation of a crayon from scratch from the mold process to the packaging which was actually very fascinating. Many other activities though are lackluster. Simple things like playing apps on what are essentially heavy duty iPads, or applying Snapchat filters to your face, or unremarkable experiences that could easily be duplicated at home. Much of the experience hinges on you actually coloring on pieces of paper and then scanning them into some sort of apparatus, novel but on your fifth coloring sheet you begin to wonder why you paid more than $20 to come into a room to color. In the middle of the experience is a large multi level tube style playground which was the highlight of the trip. This is arguably a value in and of itself because the facility is indoor and climate controlled, important for people here in North Texas. Still, there is nothing really Crayola about this other than the decorations, this was just a indoor playground. The facility is filled with upsell opportunities, like a candy shop, ice cream shop, a snack bar and restaurant. There's even an arcade and a station for wax dipping. All of these were for additional money. Imagine paying $21 to get into a Chuck E. Cheese and then having to still pay money to play games. If that makes sense. Most of the included experiences were pretty simple, some of them were manned by staff, but most of them were self guided experiences. After approximately three hours we were ready to go, and of course our daughter wanted to play games, eat ice cream, get souvenirs or spend more money which we had to convince her otherwise. The experience empties into a large branded gift shop, which you can access separately from inside the mall without buying admission, and they do have a very large assortment of interesting Crayola branded items including large tins that you can fill with hundreds of unique colors. I should be used to exiting through the gift shop by now. Coming out I didn't feel like this was an incredible value or an outstanding experience I would necessarily recommend to others. They asked me several times if I was an annual passholder, and looking back now the notion of going to this place several times a year seems especially funny to me. Three hours was certainly enough. The value of a giant indoor experience center might be better for someone who lives in the immediate vicinity was looking for a summertime activity, but as for us having a 35 minute commute from Rockwall I don't think it's a place that we will be visiting again this year. 3/5 read more

Great indoor activity to beat the heat this summer. Wednesday is daycare day so avoid it if you can, if not, show up after 3PM. Let's start with some of the mentioned negatives. $20 Is expensive, especially when the adults have to purchase a ticket. Get a small discount and skip the line by buying online. There is a general lack of direction/information/assistance but you will it figured out. The concession prices are a little ridiculous and bags are subject to search so snack before you get here. It's an indoor activity in far north dallas!!! My non-coloring kid really enjoyed sitting at the coloring tables while we were there. The molding clay is a fun little break. There are a couple of activities that are an additional expense but we didn't participate in any of those. The bathrooms were clean and have lots of stalls. If you want, tickets can be applied to the the $30 annual membership as your leaving. **second visit, the staffing has improved! read more

Nice place to entertain the kids for hours. I recommend the membership for people that live around the area, we used to come here about twice a month. Everyone gets a couple of coins that can be exchanged for crayons with personalized labels or a small packet of play dough, and also a scribble scrubbie pet (a new one every month). They have different activities and also a playground area for kids and one for toddlers. Overall is a good place to spend the afternoons at, but I think it can be expensive for a one-time visit. Got a groupon deal and took my newer editions at the young un's (7) request. In her words "it was like a blast." 4-8 that's the sweet spot for this place. There's enough activities to entertain an older kid for a while but my first edition found herself going back to the same activities over and over to kill time while the 2nd edition was having the time of her life. There's a lot of stuff in there. Some works well, others not so much. The creative zone like spin art, melted crayon art, the free color table was fun, even for adults. The rainbow wall, emoji/ring maker, adventure lab, theater show not so much. The kicker is that for a 5 or 6 year old probably it all works well ultimately. For the parents or older siblings it'll get boring after a while. I will probably take my younger one here again. My older one will need to be bribed .... read more

I had been wanting to take my kids here for awhile. We had first seen a crayola experience driving from the airport to our hotel near universal years ago in Florida but already had a full trip. So I was excited when I found out they were opening one a little more local to us. We opted to wait for some of the opening growing pains before going, plus its a little bit of a drive for us, particularly when we chose to avoid toll roads when we can. Then end of 2019 during some sort of black Friday weekend special we jumped on a deal on a yearly membership that made the membership the price it would have been for the 4 of us to go just to go one day. So if we didn't like it then we really didn't lose anything financially but if we did like it enough to go again we could go for just the cost of gas. We finally decided to go activate our memberships, once you have your cards its an easy in and out by scanning your cards but the activation and buying ticket line took a little bit. With every admission you got two coins and a voucher for a free figure to paint. You can use a coin to do print your own label or getting some modeling clay. So you can use them all on clay you can take home, use them all on custom labels or a mix of both. I spent most of my time with my 4 almost 5 year old and he was all about trying all of the stations, luckily all of which were working when we were there ... I had seen reviews where some activities were broken. All of the staff was very friendly as well! There are things that I thought would be included were extra, but I think that was just my misunderstanding of the reviews and make some sense that it would be extra (Wax hands) but other things didn't quite make sense or just seemed like quick little extras to make an extra buck cause your kiddo hyper focused on that particular activity. (Shifting for gems or something like that, we kind of avoided hanging out near that just in case.) My husband stuck with our 12 year old who I figured would enjoy this place over Legoland Discovery center due to the art aspect of Crayola. She did enjoy the label making, and did work on the panted figure ... which was a cat so I think that's why she was all for painting that ... but opted to not really participate in the melting crayons to make splatter art or make a molded ring or emoji ... so she and her dad ended up parked at a table for awhile doodling. So I would like to see something added to be more engaging for older kids but I get the general age range isn't totally geared to her. We didn't make it to the crayola show that happens every hour or 30 minutes because by the time my youngest and I were done doing much of the hands on activities he wanted mostly to play in the little play ground they have near a cafe and the painting a figure station until it was time to get something to eat. Which we had already previously decided to not eat at the cafe because we're not in this area often we wanted to try a nearby restaurant we don't have on our side of DFW. So yes, I'm glad we caught the deal so that we didn't feel like we had to push to do everything in one visit. If its to tough for us to make the drive back though I won't be mad that we had decided to spend more than the about one visit price to not go again. The crayola experience is definitely a place you must go at least once. They have a lot to do, especially if you have little ones! Plan to be here a couple of hours. When I first walked in to purchase my tickets, the girl that was helping me said to the guy next to her that her computer had frozen. She never told me what was going on. She just stood there and had the guy talk to someone else through they walkie talkie. I waited patiently, & then she just walked away. That's when the tech guy said that she went to help someone and she'd be right back. This girl NEVER came back, instead she stood at the entrance to talk to some of her coworkers. That is just poor customer service. The guy that had previously helped her ended up apologizing and checking me out. I waited for about 15 minutes, with not a word coming from her mouth. Purchase your tickets online!! -They give you two tokens per person and you are able to purchase more tokens inside. Tickets are used to buy a colored clay, wrap & name you're own crayola. They have various stations that allow you to color a sheet, and scan it so it comes to life which is pretty neat! You're also able to sit in for a show of how they are made and a little back story to crayola. They display the times of when it starts & also announce it. This was the worst experience of our weekend, we had planned for 2 weeks to come here I have a 6 year old son and his friend of 9 , they started by forcefully saying my children have to ware their masks and in Texas under 10 it's not required. Then telling me I have to , I have breathing issues and have been vaccinated, we are all healthy. Recently chaperoned a field trip here. As a first timer I thought the whole place was pretty neat. There are different stations you can make crayons, color, paint, play with play doh, add your art to an app based game, separate play areas for toddlers and elementary ages children plus much more! I knocked off a star because I do feel like they need new items like paint brushes, clay molds and some maintenance on the crayon making machine. Overall we had a good time, think it might be too "young" for my 12yo but every child is different. read more

This place is great. We have a annual pass for my four year old and I. The $60 annual fee is a great deal even though we only visit Dallas a few weeks a year. My daughter asks about going to the "crayon factory" throughout the year when we are not in Dallas. Because we go while on vacation we can pick when we visit. I have found that weekdays are the best as they are not very busy. My daughter enjoys painting, and the drying machine fascinates her. She love to makes rings and cars out of the melted crayons. You can customize crayons as well. You get two tokens per person to make the crayons and buy clay. You can buy more for 50 cents each. She makes them for her friends and cousins as well. There are different play areas for the bigger and smaller children, including a chalk wall and car that are fun to decorate. Lots of interactive coloring areas. We also went to the show that plays every couple hours on how they make crayons. The person hosting the show was so good. She made the children feel welcome and involved. I was very impressed. The show last about 15 minutes. Bottom line is you have access to many different mediums for your child to explore their creative side, and if they make a bit of a mess you do not have to worry about the clean up. I have always gone when there have been few children, so we have our run of the place and will be going back many more times. read more

The way my niece poked, prodded and basically dragged me by my hair here, I would have thought I was gonna have a Disney experience. I paid for my tickets online, which actually saved me $2.00. Your required to pay for a ticket for each person entering wether that be child or adult. You also get to skip the long line by buying online and printing your tickets or having them on your phone so they can be scanned. Upon entering your handed a bag with two tokens and not given any other instructions. I was so confused! Walk down and you place one token in the crayon color of your choice for a personalized crayon. Please don't use both tokens, you will need the other token as you keep walking to pay for the molding dough. They have different tables set up around like stations : Crayons, Markers and Paint with paper to use there products on, basically something I could set up at home, with the combined entrance fee They have a small jungle gym, a food establishment that promotes unhealthy eating and overweight kids. I did like the two crafting booths that were assisted by staff. They gave a great opportunity for the child to take a keepsake, well more than their colorings They also have interactive video displays, on the walls and floors that the kids can play with. For me I found no real value in going with my 5 year old niece. The take away for her was the Pink stuffed crayon she wanted, other than that it wasn't too memorable outside of the fact that she got to color, paint and color with a marker; all of which I could have set up at home. read more

Like everywhere else, they are understaffed but if you go in knowing ahead of time you may wait a little extra, it's not too bad. As the father of three kids between the ages of 5 and 10, it's always a challenge to find activities that will excite the senses and keep them from rotting their brains on television and youTube. One location that I was cautiously enthusiastic about was the new Crayola Experience at Willowbend Mall. We showed up late in the afternoon on the first day. For the four of us, single use tickets would have run us almost a full $90. Sensing danger, I purchased annual passes for $30.99, which was smart because the Crayola Experience was not worth twenty for a day. $15 maybe, and that's just if you have one kid. Inside the facility we found a number of interesting craft stations that kept the kids engaged for about an hour. There plenty of tables, most of them filled with... you guessed it... coloring sheets and crayons! It was busy enough that two of the more popular "activities", the crayon melt and silly profiles stations were unavailable due to long lines, but my kids really enjoyed getting their pictures taken and turned into black and white coloring sheets. Another cool station had kids coloring cars or clothes, scanning the design into a computer, and seeing it come to life on the big screen. An undersized playground kept the younger ones entertained for ten minutes, and all three of my kids avoided the chalk area, where your children can be introduced to the wonders of graffiti, since everything in the area, including the mailbox, fire hydrant, and house walls can be drawn upon. Most of the activities my kids enjoyed however involved technology. The rainbow screen was popular, as was the crayon dance (at least until it stopped working.) Point being, an annual pass is the only way the cost is worth the crayons. There is food there, but be prepared for theme park quality and price. read more

A boring experience about nothing. There is nothing educational, interesting or fun in this place. It consists in basically a playground, a small theater with a couple of screens, two or three machines to print labels for the crayons, and others to melt them, a cafeteria and of course a big gift store. Save your money and just take your children to any fast food place with a playground, and when they get tired of jumping give them a paper and some crayons to color it. When they get bored of coloring let them do silly faces using the cameras of their phones or tablets. They will have basically the same experience, for a fraction of the price. read more

I had to update my review on a crappy call back from Matt Jones. So we received a call, indicating if we still wanted to have our daughters birthday. Obviously it's was a no because they couldn't seem to have things in order. Even though I still looked passed it I took my daughter on my own with her friends. So rather than Matt asking why or how they could earn my business? It was the complete opposite, and felt it was pointless for a call back. I kept my cool and told him, is this the way our event would be if we had it? And then he didn't say anything at all.... all I am trying to do is have a memorable 3rd birthday for my princess. My family loved our visit to the Crayola Experience. Before we visited, I searched for information online and didn't find much, so I'm hoping to close some of the gaps for others. The cost was high, there's no going around that. If you live locally, the way to go is the membership, which is the cost of just two visits. If you visit 6-8 times a year, it will be a steal, and you won't feel the pressure of staying to do "everything" in one visit to get your money's worth. Our family of four paid about $90, I found a 10% of coupon online and that brought it down from $100. There are some stations, such as coloring pages and playing with clay, that my creative kids could have sat and colored for an hour....but when you're paying $100 for an afternoon you don't want them to spend it just coloring, right? I think a membership would give flexibility to allow them to do that some days without the guilt. Same for the indoor playground. It's nice and three stories, but again we can play in playgrounds for free in parks. The best activities generally resulted in a keepsake or project they could take home. The "label your own crayon" stations are right near the front. Push the label machine over your crayon FAST otherwise they crumple if you try and go slow and deliberately. Learned that the hard way. Your ticket comes with two "tokens" for every paid person (adults too). Label your own crayon takes one token; we gave our tokens to our kids so they could do more than one. You can also buy more tokens in an arcade style machine right next to these machines where you put a dollar in and tokens come out for 50 cents each. Next time I will bring dollar bills and do more of these because it was very fun. You can also trade tokens for packets of modeling clay in about six colors (blue, yellow, pink, red, purple, green). There are buckets of toys, similar to playdoh toys, set out to play with your clay if you prefer. Bring ziplocs to store your opened clay for later after playing. The absolutely BEST station in my opinion was the one where my kids could take pictures of themselves and make coloring pages out of their own images. That was so cute and fantastic for the scrapbook! We took several family photos on different backgrounds and that night colored them in the hotel. What a great momento and so different. There did not appear to be any limit on the number of these you could print. Another popular station was the one where crayons were melted into either little figures (a racing car, a toy ring) or the melted wax dripped onto paper in a swirling pattern. There was a place to exchange a voucher for a "scribble scrubbie" or a small figurine that can be colored, washed, and colored again. That was one of my least favorite because there is a large display with all kinds of different animals as you approach, which got the kids excited, but when we went to get one apparently you can't pick your own unless you have a membership. If you don't have a membership you can only have the bird. That's a bit of a cheap shot honestly for a place that is marketing to kids and charges $100 for a family of four. You shouldn't force them to walk past what they can't have like that. Additionally, the markers set out for this station were very sparse, only about 6 colors, and mostly dried up and unusable. We moved on quickly and I'm glad we weren't looking forward to this. Overall, on a Sunday in May it was not crowded. We waited in line less than 10 minutes. There were some electronic stations that were entertaining for about five minutes at a time, a nice snack bar, plenty of places for parents to sit, and a cute video of how crayons are made that was very interesting. This was an awesome trip for our kids. I appreciated the mask policy as there was quite a bit of people there by the time we left. One thing I would have liked was access to sanitizer throughout the visit. We did not bring ours in because we didn't have a clear purse to carry. We enjoyed all the included stops along the map. We took our 2 grandkids to the Crayola experience in Plano, TX, our group arrived in 2 cars, once we arrived back home we realized neither of us o had grabbed the bag, and I realized the bag of art had been left at the tatoo station, we called at 5:05 pm and no one answered, we left a message to please save the bag, we would return in the morning to get the bag. I called again at 9:16am and finally reached someone at 10:16 to be told the bag was thrown away. The reason given they only save personal stuff, the definition of personal is "belonging to a particular person, rather than any one else" so this was our personal bag. Very sad for our grandkids. read more

Not worth the money For the experience. You can buy crayons and coloring sheets from target for a better experience! I had to purchase an annual membership since that seemed a better deal than buying 3 day passes . That's how they sucker you. Not sanitized & no hand sanitizer around after kids have touched the screens. Stations don't even have enough crayons and markers . read more

Very expensive for what it is and everything is extra. Need more employees to give instructions and make the flow of people faster.

My wife and I and my parents took my 5 yr old nephew who loves to sit and color! I don't know how this place is still in business. First off. How disingenuous. What a sham. It is clearly geared toward a very young audience. However each adult is forced to buy a full priced ticket to even just enter, to the tune of $23 each to watch your child get bored to tears within minutes. They full well know that you are not going to drop off your child so obviously an adult has to accompany the child. And they gouge you for that. At $120 later, we should have bought a box of crayons for $2 and thrown the other $118 out the window driving down the tollway and probably had more fun. On top of it all, all the digital activities were not even working and the background music playing was mind numbing. No wonder the staff was falling asleep. A morgue is more exciting. read more
