Instantly, you'll arrive upon a quaint, bright, and modern gallery space filled with beautiful works of art. There are a variety of vivid and whimsical pieces that are sure to catch your attention. There are mostly abstract pieces, and some unique surreal pieces too. The medium used is mostly acrylic paints, which is a personal favorite of mine. Miss Ginger Fox herself doesn't pressure you or watch you while you view her gallery which is great. This little treasure trove of the Bishop Arts District is a must-see after grabbing some Eno's Pizza or Emporium Pies. There are some signs that say "No Pictures" though, so please be respectful to the artist. Pricing is in the thousands, but I think they're worth it. Every piece speaks for itself and is abstract enough to put anywhere in your residence. As an (amateur) artist myself, this gallery inspires me to experiment with more accidental, broad, and messy strokes. If in the area, you must peep through and get inspired yourself!

I lose myself in JD Millers 3D paintings, they are beyond words. Any art admirer should check out the wonderful space. The only downside, is this store is located in the Bishop Arts area where parking is scarce. I'd recommend coming during a weekday, if you're able, as parking is more manageable! So, is it called 1976 because many believe it is the most consequential year in the history of modern China? (It's Chinese-American owned). Or is the birth year of one of the Law family siblings? I'd guess it's bridging old school 1976 analog craftsmanship with the digital revolution-led letterpress and screen printing, since the store is the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and modern design, with a fully operational letterpress studio (they produce their own stationery), housing vintage, antique printing presses. They also curate independent art and host hands-on workshops. So, the name We Are 1976 suggests a collective identity rooted in a specific era, and their tagline "our dear assembly" is likely their way of saying, "This is the group of people, machines, and beautiful objects we have gathered together." Honestly, I just went in looking for a bathroom. They are 1976 but I was #2.

I bought 4 Groupon offers to this class as a present for my parents when they came to Dallas…read more Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to use them, but after putting it off until a week before the expiration, I finally rounded up a crew to go with me. We stopped at Eatzi's on the way to pick up wine for the girls, beer for the boy, and snacks to nom on. The building was hard to find, because it was not well-lit in the front, but it will probably be the only storefront that is lit at all. We walked in, threw our drinks in the fridge and got to work sorting through all the books of idea paintings. I have never considered myself very artistic and was pretty nervous to pick something out and completely butcher it, but I found something that I thought I would probably buy if I saw it in a store and went to work. This was one of the most fun random Friday nights I have had in Dallas. Susan was fantastic and helped us all try different techniques and ideas. We made friends with the other parties there, both young and old. And all of our canvases turned out so well! All of our different styles came out clearly with art that we can all definitely hang on our walls. We will be back here for sure!

I came to E Gallery Studios after purchasing two Google Offers for their 3-hour BYOB painting…read moreclass. You are actually allowed/encouraged to bring beverages or even snacks. Scheduling was very easy via email. I attended the painting class with my sister. What makes this class unique is that each student (about 10-12 students in the class) chooses an image (many provided at the beginning of class) or brings their own to use for inspiration versus the step-by-step group format. The instructor, E, was awesome and gave individualized advice on how he would go about executing the painting and was really patient with beginners (like me). There are a variety of acrylic paints and tools (brushes, knives, etc.) at students' disposal. A few pointers: bring low-maintenance beverages and snacks, wear clothes you don't mind ruining, abstract images seem to be the way to go, and have a great time.

I was mostly moved by Bourbon's piece - "Say It Like You Mean It" as the acrylic painting used patchwork to take on the form of person illustrated with what appears to be shoulders held up with confidence and nervous hands. It was admirable to see how much vulnerability the subjects in paintings could represent- despite their being lack of facial expression/and mixed style. A perfect spot to hit up along your trails- to tuck away for a glimpse on the hima Street metered parking and parking lots surround the area.

Known for showcasing work of established photographers, this small space is a great place for rainy days and Mondays. You have to ring the doorbell in order to get in but after that you're on your own checking out tons of work.
