    Big Crawfish!
    Hayley J.

Every year around this time a need awakens inside of me, that need....is CRAWFISH! I'm crazy for the little mudbugs, I can eat them till my heart's content & never get tired of them since they are seasonal. For the past couple of weeks I've been driving to Crosby (I will go to any lengths for good crawfish) to get my fill, since they are made perfectly there (I like them very spicy) & they had what I thought at the time to be the best around. Last night the craving once again hit me (nope I'm not Prego, I checked), not wanting to drive all the way out there and deal with the construction I decided to go to a place I've pasted by many times but never stopped for some reason, Crawfish Connection on 1960. This changed everything! They we're so BIG & spiced just the way I like them $4.95/lb. and they come with potatoes, I myself don't like the potatoes but they we're GOOD! Crawfish Connection has a new place in my heart & stomach!

This place is always busy so we you think it must be really good...well not for us. Although it's convenient but it missed the flavor profile we are used to. I thought it was dry no spice to it. Only two things I would say are good is the ambiance and BYOB.

Although living in atascocita forever, we just recently decided to try it. We love it. Great environment and the food for the most part is delicious and reasonably priced. I've been ordering the boiled shrimp with the butter sauce and I have no complaints! My friend ordered the crawfish and noticed a lot of loose claws big and small with little to no meat and wondered how much of that added to his pound. It's BYOB and we didn't have a cooler so they offered their walk in which was great, but very questionable. The biggest complaint I have which is why I gave 4 stars is we noticed a man, possibly the cook, in the kitchen smoking. He also came out and was cleaning the eating areas still smoking. That's all, we will still go back!

Good GOD this place is amazing. Juicy crawfish. I need a bib next time!

The juiciest crawfish I've ever eaten. I mean, juice squirting out of the body, tail and claws. Flavorful, a nice amount of spice, not too overwhelming. Pretty damn affordable. Good size. This very well may be my go to crawfish spot in the future, weather pending. I say weather pending because it's outside/outdoor seating. I'm not a fan of the heat but today was pretty mild so other than shooing away flying pests, this was an over all nice, quiet experience! BYOB!

It's a low key outdoor eatery. We had the boiled crab, shrimp and crawfish. Seasoned to perfection. The corn was juicy and tasty. They give you a nice portion of butter. Sausage was extra but we added it too. Sausage was good. It's also BYOB. A must try.

    Delicious food at Crawfish Connection!

I drove by the other day and it looks like it had been torn down. Are you guys not selling crawfish anymore?

We had to move because of the construction on 1960. We are located at 2020 N Houston Ave

With more than 420 stores in Texas and Mexico, the H-E-B grocery company is the fifth largest (by…read morerevenue) privately owned company in the U.S. It was founded in 1905 in Kerryville, Texas and became H-E-B when a successful 2nd store was launched in Del Rio, Texas, using the initials of the owner, Howard Edward Butt. I've experienced their take home Texas barbeque a couple of times, and was excited when my brother let me know that his local H-E-B had a Bayou Boil House (not all do), serving up Louisiana Crawfish boils during the weekend. The stand is located at the front entrance of the store where the carts are located (similarly where a hot dog stand would be if in a Midwestern store). It is manned by two H-E-B employees, with coolers stocked with the already cooked seafood and vegetables. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived an hour before closing (closing at 6pm), they were out of crawfish (would have been $6.97 per pound). Instead we got shrimp (headless and deveined, shell-on for $12.97 per pound), with corn and potatoes ($2.97 per pound), sausage ($7.97 per pound). Snow Crab would have been $16.97, though I never think it is worth it. It is all mixed together in a large durable plastic bag. We brought it back home, and I ended up eating it for dinner and the following breakfast. Everything was really good: nothing was overcooked (i.e. mealy or mushy), the sausage was a good andouille, and the old bay type seasoning was just right. They could definitely elevate it up a couple of notches if replicating a Viet-Cajun sauce, that is very popular in the Houston area. But as it is, definitely a winner...along with their Texas brisket, makes me wish an H-E-B was visitable from where we live.

Great food overall!…read more The food here is definitely great--lots of choices and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. You can tell why this place is popular. The service could use a little improvement during busy times, and the ambiance felt a bit crowded, but that's probably because so many people enjoy coming here. This place is a bit far from central Houston and central north Houston, but it's such a great gem! It gets quite busy but they have a number system where you walk in, check in and get a number, and then you get called. It gets pretty busy but the line goes by fast. Parking is also a bit of a hassle as the lot is very small for the amount of people which is a downside. The Chinese food they have is so so, but the seafood is where it's at. Their crab legs are always so fresh and sweet, and rarely salty. We also love their crawfish as it's full of flavor, fresh, and always piping hot. Their sushi selection is decent and also pretty good quality for buffet sushi. The seafood reminds me of Las Vegas buffet quality. Dessert selection is ok. I just go for the ice cream and some fruit and that's pretty much it. Inside it does get pretty hectic and everything is fast paced, but that's good if you want to eat the most you can in such little time! The servers are always attentive and take away empty plates, refill drinks, and are happy to assist with anything you need. All in all, this is a great bang for your buck if you want a good variety of food with amazingly fresh seafood.
