I like coming to this 99 Ranch location because it's conveniently surrounded by so many other…read morestores. It's close to Costco and H-Mart, and near H-Mart you'll also find Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours. There's an 85°C nearby as well and with Costco right next door, you could easily spend half a day hopping between all these places. On weekends, traffic can be pretty crazy and parking isn't easy since everyone shops then. However, if you come on a weekday especially outside of lunchtime--it's much easier to find a parking spot. Inside 99 Ranch, there's a food court with options like San dong noodles, dim sum, stir-fry dishes, and Chinese barbecue. On the other side of the plaza, there are also several restaurants, including Korean spots and Vietnamese crawfish places. As for the store itself, there are always clearance items near the Kung Fu Tea area, which we usually check out before heading in to shop for fruits, produce, vegetables--pretty much everything. I found my favorite Japanese soy milk but this was banana flavored. Way too sweet for me and it was $4/carton. It's a large store and they offer a loyalty program. If it's your first time visiting 99 Ranch, you could easily spend an hour just roaming the aisles. There's so much to see--it almost feels like a little field trip every time we go.

Absolutely unacceptable experience. I stood at this seafood counter for over 30 minutes being…read morecompletely ignored. At first, this employee told me to wait, which I did patiently. Then he proceeded to help every other customer who walked up after me. When I finally asked what was going on, he suddenly told me I needed to get a number--something that was never mentioned when I first arrived. This was rude, dismissive, and extremely unprofessional. There was zero communication, zero courtesy, and no accountability. Watching someone intentionally skip you after you've been standing there waiting is beyond frustrating and disrespectful. Customer service like this is unacceptable. If you don't want to help customers, you shouldn't be working in a customer-facing role. Management seriously needs to address this behavior because it reflects terribly on the business. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they enjoy being ignored and treated like they don't matter. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Ended up going to H-Mart down the street. Much more professional.

Every time my parents come to visit they request to come here! I shop often at the bodega next door (see my review for Granel) and I was starving one day after grabbing all of my spices. I checked this place on Yelp and noticed it's been around for over 40 years. That was good enough for me! Imagine freshly fried fish (corn or flour available!) like you're at the family cookout served with a side of fried rice from your favorite Chinese restaurant! All for less than $15! I order the same combo every time, the two pieces of bass cornmeal battered, 5 shrimp and the fried rice. I'm not a fan of ceviche but my homegirl and her mom ordered it and said it was amazing! The three of us ate for less than $50! Left full and content. If you find yourself in this area and you like fresh fried fish, this place does not miss!!!

The service was great--the staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything arrived hot and fresh. As for the food, the seafood is tasty and seasoned perfectly; the fried shrimp and fish had a great crunch, and the shrimp fried rice is a must-try. The best part is that everything is reasonably priced for the generous portions you get. It's a reliable, "no-frills" staple in Houston that stays true to its roots. I'll definitely go back!
