First off, I came here with my mom and they had excellent customer service! Be sure to check in on Yelp for the fish balls, sounds weird but they're really delicious! We had a pound of clams and shrimp with potatoes and sausage and an order of the fries. Way too much food for two people. Our waitress was really nice and offered to teach us how to take apart a crawfish if we decided to order one. She constantly came back and kept checking on us. The shrimp were juicy and fresh, I recommend getting them with the skin on. And the flavors when you mix them all together were just delightful! A must try! 3.5 stars, rounding down. I came here a while ago and upon entering, there were a couple of other tables there. Service was pretty slooowwwww, so be prepared! I am a big fan of live crawfish and I can definitely tell the difference between fresh and frozen. I am happy that Crawfish Cave doesn't try to sell me frozen as fresh and are honest about it, unlike other crawfish joints (in other locations, not OC). I had a party of 2, and we ordered the cave bucket special which includes 3 pounds of whichever seafood (crawfish, shrimp, clams or mussels) and 4 pieces of sausage, 2 corn and 2 potatoes. We opted for crawfish and I was informed that their crawfish is always fresh, never frozen because they keep their tanks at a certain degree (or something like that, I'm not sure .. just know that they supposedly will always have fresh crawfish at hand!) Good to know! When our food came out, they dumped our seafood in a huge metal bowl, which we're not a fan of. I wish they asked us ahead of time before dumping it out. We don't like it that way even though, yes, it's easier to grab, it gets cold quicker. The spice level wasn't very spicy, but we didn't get the highest level and the sauce was pretty good. We also got cajun fries and I like them to have a certain spice to them but they said they didn't do that. I asked if they had cayenne pepper to just sprinkle on, they didn't / couldn't do that either. Oh well. I really like this place. Being from south Louisiana and growing up eating crawfish, I have to say that I approve of this place. It is rather unusual to pick what spice level and flavoring for your order, but it is a nice touch. I especially like that you can add side items to the boil, like sausage and corn. Now that is like a true, Louisiana boil. You can also order a side of French bread. Been there three times already and will be back. Only bad thing here is the service. It is uneven at best. Employees will watch people stand at the hostess stand for 10 to 15 minutes before approaching them. Lots of employees running in circles, not really taking care of guest. AWESOME SERVICE!!! We had been wanting to try this place since we moved to downtown but just never got around to it until last night. I had gotten off work late and didn't pay any attention to the closing time prior to walking there, and arrived 30 minutes before closing. Sam greeted us at the door after we checked in and continued to give great customer service the rest of the time. Thomas got us seated right away and got us started with drinks. Patrick was nice enough to explain the menu and suggested we get the bucket since it's more bang for your buck. The food was great and we have leftovers that I'm looking forward to today. The cajun garlic fries were skinny short crispy fries that were similar to chips & I hate those kind of fries. Come here if you don't want to deal with the wait at Boiling Crab! I came with my boyfriend on Saturday night and it was pretty busy but we didn't have to wait. A host sat us down and wrote Nikki on our table so I assumed she was gonna serve us. For the food, we got the Cave Bucket and got 2 pounds of shrimps and 1 pound of clams. After work, I was craving for fried zucchini, so I stopped by this place which is near the bus station that's also close to home. I went in to check their menu. Unfortunately, they don't have fried zucchini. I then ordered the sweet potato. I asked the person how much do they give on the sweet potato. He showed me a big to go box. I then I asked him how big are the pieces. He then show me with his finger, not knowing that it is almost as thin as a paper. I ordered it and the pieces were very tiny and burnt and soggy. Not crispy at all. I noticed that they put a few nice pieces on top and burnt and tiny pieces at the bottom. The bottom bare pretty empty. They kind of arranged it that it look plentiful , but actually they had it kind of crisscrossed. I didn't feel like walking back to the place to complain. I would like the owner to see this review and contact me. I wouldn't recommend my family, friends, and co-workers . I work fairly close to this place on harbor blvd. I was really excited to try this place cause I've seen it on Instagram. The free fish balls with the check in was nice and tasty. They also do free refills on fountain drinks. I would recommend the fried oysters with truffle fries and fish and chips. We also got a pound of snow crab legs and a pound of shrimp. Came in on a Sunday and had a pleasant experience. Our server was great. The fishballs we got for checking in on Yelp were ok. The texture for me was odd, chewy and different. We got 1/2 crab and 1/2 shrimp and picked out what type of seasoning to go with the seafood. We were provided with a table cover, tools to get out the meat from the crab and some lime slices and seasoning. We also ordered BBQ wings which were crispy and delicious. My nephew liked the corn on the cob, a side of white rice(I I felt like the smaller portion was on the smaller end) and lastly their garlic noodles that were creamy and delicious. My only gripe was the restroom. I hope they get a changing table for babies and toddlers. Their sink was a mess it looked like someone was gonna clean the sink but left and didn't. They left a roll of paper towels that I originally went for to dry my hands with but it was wet at the bottom of where the roll was sitting on the sink and also a spray bottle of solution. The second is that I'm so impressed with their sauce!!!! I really liked boiling crab's sauce, but this place brings it to another level. So tasty! The service was friendly and timely. The alcohol selection was diverse and affordable. The seafood was served with a big bowl which made it very nice to eat and share the food and less messy. Also, they offer the shrimp peeled for only $2 extra! Loved this! And to top it all off it was quality seafood for a lower price point than boiling crab as well. The market prices for the seafood is a bit pricey compared to other places, but I'm pretty sure it's because the location is in Downtown Fullerton. Surprisingly, they have live crawfish here! My boyfriend and I ordered one pound of clams and one pound of crawfish with all the sauces combined at medium level spice. The clams were a bit over cooked, but the crawfish tasted amazing with the sauce. The medium is a bit too spicy though, but it was manageable because we had beers to drink. I must say that I'm not a fan of oysters until this day! I'm literally obsessed with their blue point oysters. Best ever! Their cocktail sauce is also very good. First time visit! My group of 6 and I planned a Saturday birthday lunch gathering for our dear friend. He is from Louisiana and longed for a delicious crawfish place for the celebration. When I called to place the reservation we were greeted by Miha, (I say "we" because the call was on speaker and I was with the birthday boy) she was incredibly welcoming over the phone and shared our excitement for the birthday. The service received during that 45 second call had us looking forward to our luncheon even more. Upon our arrival, the table was set up for our group with an extra touch of fun! On the paper table cover the staff had wrote a happy birthday message. That was such a sweet and personable addition to our table. We got to meet Miha in person and she was just as lovely as she was over the phone. The other servers assisting with our table also had a great attitude and service for us. The food was delicious and beer selection was rad! Not a lot of places carry Golden Road- Wolf Pup on tap. The pitchers of beer were ideal for our group size. We ordered a variety of sides and a few lbs of shrimp to share across the table and left extremely satisfied with the taste of it all. You must try the po'boy sandwiches, clams and oysters!! I would of loved to give this a five star review but there was one thing that could of been better. Granted the restaurant did begin to get busy as we were finishing our meal but still....we never received the last pitcher of beer ordered and our water glasses had gotten empty. Thirst got real. Let me start by saying that the shrimp was really fresh and service was good. BUT, the moment i got the first piece of shrimp in my mouth, i knew that this was not what i came here for. The sauce definitely had a good level of heat and kick to it but thats about it. I read a few other reviews on here where people mentioned that the sauce was missing something, and thats exactly what it was. Its definitely missing the depth of flavor and it lacks the buttery goodness that the better crawfish places have. The crawfish also tasted very bitter and muddy. Gonna start by saying I'm always skeptical when I go to any cajun crawfish place that's not Boiling Crab but this place really surprised me, it's right up there. I always judge these places by their sauce as I think it's the most important factor, and their special cave sauce was amazing. It was really flavorful and just a perfect combination of savory, sweet, salty, and spicy. Also, you know the sauce is good when you finish your shrimp and contemplate just eating the remaining sauce by itself... before realizing you're still in public. I tried their garlic noodles which was also really really good. I've always been a loyal Boiling Crab patron ever since the original Boiling Crab opened in Garden Grove and I will just say that this place is very comparable in terms of quality of food and sauce. I could actually make an argument that their sauce is better than Boiling Crab. It is a good balance between salty and sweet. They also have WAY better oyster selection (kumamoto and kushi) than Boiling Crab and the other knock offs. Their catfish is also legit. I haven't been able to try the crawfish yet since crawfish is apparently not in season but I was very pleased with the Shrimp and cave sauce/garlic butter. More importantly, no wait compared to Boiling Crab (30 mins plus). Check it out! read more

We got three pounds of shrimp doused in cave sauce and one pound in garlic butter sauce. My fav was the cave sauce. I could probably just eat rice and cave sauce for a few days. Those garlic noodles are hella good too. Its like a chunky garlic sauce and its surprisingly not as oily as other crawfish places. They also give free fried fish balls if you follow them on IG or check in on Yelp, I forgot. They seem like a random addition to the menu but they were good! It was really thin and they were pretty much regular fries with a lot of cajun powder dumped on top garlic noodles with sausage, shrimp, and clams - this was pretty much flavorless. I did not taste the garlic. The only thing that I tasted was the spicyness of the spaghetti pasta, which the waiter told my boyfriend that this dish was "not spicy." For a weekend, they were very understaffed. Only 4 waiters and the boss working. I didn't really appreciate how they kept on messing up the orders and had no idea who's order was who. The boss had to go around asking, "Did you guys order this?" to almost every table. With so little reviews under me, I feel that the owners just go their friends and family to write a review.
